This thread should never close. We can have FF and X-Men threads but this should stay open. It's historical.

And if we really want to keep it open there's still the Spider-Man rights.

Agreed.

Don't forget Namor and Hulk distribution rights... Which should be home soon enough, thanks to Sky :D

More and more outlets are reporting that Comcast has essentially pulled out of Fox bidding. They do not expect them to put in any further bids. They will focus on the 61% of Sky.

It's effectively over. The vote will go ahead 2 weeks from now unimpeded.

:chd:

I think I'm actually more excited now than I was when the deal was first announced.

At that point it was still a long process with a lot that could go wrong. Now we're nearly there with no major hurdles left.

Anyone think that the Avengers 4 plot might follow something similar to the Disney-Fox-Comcast battle?

Maybe someone will do something so that Thanos can't continue because that would mean either such a pyrrhic victory or he will lose something else he's trying to gain.

It was obviously written after this bidding war. Or Disney borrowed some tactics from it. :o

LOL

This whole drama is sure good enough a source for a movie script, no doubt.

I wish some FFINO defenders would show up to say that Disney is not going to win this and that we should give up because it's going to Comcast.

Why didn't they come in and at least gloat when Comcast put in a bid? Why don't they come in now and tell us that they're going to laugh when Disney get outbid at the last minute? I miss those guys. :p

Bring them home, Kevin. :woot:

*Fiege intensifies*

They'll show up when I start repeating that I want FOXs Dark Phoenix shelved.

I still remember vividly back when I was still a lurker on the day the first reviews for Fan4stic dropped. I wish someone has a link to that thread since I loved how it made the defenders look super stupid. I do not envy anyone with that type of embarrassment.

You can just search the Marvel section using the search function to find some of the old threads. Here's a good one to start with:

Damn you! There goes my day. :funny:

That is some great stuff though. Particularly now that we don't have to worry about it again.

And how sweet is it, on a day like today, to read things like this:

Guys, next year, or whenever we have the next El Capitan-type event announced, we should all do a mass video chat as we watch the reveals.
I want to see you all geek out along with me.

I absolutely cannot wait until the first official announcement or my preference, a post credits scene Easter egg. Then it will seem truly real at that point.

Then there won't be any more if this "It's such a shame that Marvel Studios doesn't have access to Doctor Doom, Silver Surfer, Galactus, The FF, Mutants, etc." crap that fans have had to put up with for what seems like such an interminably long period of time.

Wasn't this the day Comcast was suppose to reveal their plans for a new bid?

Is it possible the shareholder vote could be expedited if Comcast announces early next week that they won't put forth another bid?

I don't think Comcast will announce that (even though I'm nearly certain they're done), and I don't think Fox would change the meeting either way.

They're set for the 27th and there shouldn't be any reason to either delay or move it up - they'll just have the vote, the shareholders will almost certainly approve it, and then they'll move on to the final stages.

Hopefully they'll announce an intended closing date at the meeting.
