I don't think that Tweet from Gunn was the first time he mentioned Surfer. I seem to remember an interview/podcast in which he was talking about how much he wanted to do something with Silver Surfer but he couldn't because of the rights situation (I believe that was before any talk of the Disney deal).

I don't know about cancelled, but I would guess that it isn't that far into productiin that being cancelled is a real probability. Which would be a shame imo. I would say put it on the back burner a bit longer and re-tool it according to how Deadpool may fit into the mcu.

I could see X-Force being delayed and we get a Deadpool 3 first.

X-Force were always adults. Of course, they don't have to title the film that just have Deadpool in the tile or something

No need to. Thanos is a purple alien with a weird chin.
Brolin can play Cable AND Thanos in the same movie if they want to, other characters can chalk it up to coincidence if they sort of look alike. Hell, Deadpool would come up with several jokes about it.

A good.example of something like this has already happened. John Rhys-Davies played both Gimli and Treebeard in the LotR trilogy.

They don't have to be HS students, they just have to be young. College kids. Having a 30 yo team just doesn't work or make much sense

I wouldn't even guess that Brolin was Thanos if I didn't know from sites like this one and saw his name in the credits. He completely disappears in the role. I would have zero problem with him playing both Cable and Thanos in the MCU. It would be like when John Rhys-Davies played both Gimli and Treebeard in the LOTR films.

MCU could have already used Namor by now if they really wanted to badly enough. When the Aquaman movie was announced and he was cast and put into JL -- there was no way they were going to expend any effort in bringing him in as supporting Hero or Villain. They were clearly content to see if the Aquaman movie is either a huge flop, a moderate success or a big hit.
Also, in any case, they have to see Aquaman's visual esthetic to make a Namor's Atlantis be unique and better.


I hate to wish failure on the Aquaman movie, but I think we will only see Namor if it crashes and burns. "Best case" besides that is in a 2nd or 3rd FF movie many years from now.

That's what I mean: Disney could see an R-rated film about a bunch of mature randos with superpowers called X-Force as brand confusion. Better to call whatever they make Deadpool 3.

Eh, I don't care what Iger said, he was just trying to get people excited. The day Feige himself comes out and explicitly states "yes, I'm taking Reynolds' Deadpool with all his baggage and dumping him into my cinematic universe", that's when I'll concede that I was wrong.

I agree with this. I think DP will be left alone and only used in a big event film or something else. I don't see him continually popping up in MCU films.

The studio banner will likely change, but DP creatives will stay in place and left to do their thing outside of the MCU.

With this deal getting everybody talking about Fantastic Four and the relaunch in a couple weeks, it seems like a perfect storm:

If Gunn gets the opportunity he will jump right on to Surfer asap.

Since he knows what's going on, I wouldn't be surprised if he included a character that could be Norrin Radd/Surfer or could be someone else in the script with the idea that he'll go one way or the other depending on what's happening.

After all, he wrote Ego before he had those rights.

He could start adding the likes of Annihilus, Blaastar and the Negative Zone in Guardians. If these are cosmic villains, then cosmic characters like the Guardians should even start encountering some of them.
