Yeah. I don’t know if he will say anything specific before Avengers 4 but it will be great if he can at least say some general stuff like there being more possibilities now with F4 and X-Men rights coming back. And he will now have plenty of time to plan and integrate what he wants before the post A4 slate announcement.

Yeah.

But if the deal is really done so quickly, maybe there will be enough time to add some easter eggs in Captain Marvel.

True. Would be great. I’d take pretty much anything.

Six days now until the meeting

You know, it just crossed my mind. The Marvel Studios fanfare getting updated to include the X-Men and Fantastic Four. It's going to be a beautiful thing.

Now THAT is one helluva pallet cleansing thought after the Gunn mess. Thank you for that.

I think you are literally the only one on the planet who would have thought to make this reference. Well played :)

I did the TV series "Seven Days" yesterday. Going to be interesting coming up with ones for the next few days, if I remember.

Also, I never noticed before, but something doesn't look quite right about that pose with Harrison Ford and Anne Heche. As if they're on two slightly different angles and photoshopped together to be holding hands.

I don't think they had Photoshop back then; wasn't that movie 20 years ago?

It's a little late now but you could have referenced Adam Sandler's animated Hannukah movie "8 Crazy Nights". Serious missed opportunity there.

Photoshop has been widely untilised in Desktop publishing, graphic design etc , since the early 90's.

They had Photoshop back then. They were early versions of it, but still around. I remember people using Photoshop back when the internet revolution started and doing photomanips of superheros back in about 96 or 97.

I was only going to start from a week to go. Well, I only got the idea when there was a week to go.

Hey I was wondering regarding the Hulk rights since Fox had the distribution rights of the last 10 Dreamworks Animation films. Would Universal be willing to make a swap??

I would like to correct that NBCU already has distribution rights to all dreamwork animation films for physical media. 21CF has distribution rights to all (including Shrek 1) dreamwork animation films for online distribution (i.e. Google Play). I'm not sure who owns the rights for streaming.

An asset swap would be possible, maybe even probable, if and only if CMCSA wins the Sky bid. If Disney wins the Sky bid forgetaboutit.

We have to hope Comcast wins Sky now. What is the likelihood of that. Will Brian Roberts want to come away empty handed from this entire thing?

So are you saying that once the deal clears next Friday we will need to switch teams and start rooting for Comcast?

That would be silly. What a fickle bunch we are. :funny:

Comcast will probably win SKY now because I don't think Disney will be in a position to outbid them a second time after they acquire Fox. And Fox is a bigger deal than SKY, because it will help Disney launch their own streaming service, not to mention tons of IP like Avatar that will be part of Disney afterward.

So, providing that Disney actually ask for Hulk, Namor and the theme park rights in a negotiation for Disney's remaining Sky shares, then we could see them returning home soon too?

I wish there was some kind of post scheduler on these forums, a bit like Hootsuite or Buffer for social media. Then I wouldn't have to remember to do a daily countdown post now until next Friday, but they'd automatically go up at a certain time.

I think Disney would still want more than that for 39% of Sky.
Comcast could offer the above, throw in their share of HULU and from what I understand Comcast would still have to pony up some cash because 39% of Sky is worth more than all of that.

You can't put a dollar value on distribution rights for films with "Hulk" in the title, because such films have never turned a profit and Disney already uses the character legally. Namor may or may not be in the same boat.

Yeah, between all of the rights, and the Sky share, Comcast would still have to pony up a few billion. If they offered to buy Star from Disney it would become several billion more.

If they did the latter, Disney could put those funds into escrow, and offer up some of the cash to Sony for the Spider-Man rights. Just speculation, but fun speculation. :D

For the most part you can't, but given how badly Comcast wants Sky, Disney can twist their arm a bit to keep any such valuation at a reasonable level. The rights transfer would serve more as a means to bring Disney to the table.
