Hell what if Disney tried to buy Comcast?

That'd be a plot twist.

For the most part you can't, but given how badly Comcast wants Sky, Disney can twist their arm a bit to keep any such valuation at a reasonable level. The rights transfer would serve more as a means to bring Disney to the table.

Might Disney return the favor and push the cost up for Comcast? I know it sounds petty and tit for tat, but I'm just kind of that way.......seems like it would have been better for both companies if things could have been a little more, well, civil....Oh wait, I thinking that word existed in these sorts of situations...

It would be smart. At worst, they either get a valuable asset that Iger called the crown jewel of the acquisition at a higher price or they have more leverage and get more money from Comcast for their 39%.

Either way, they won't do it until after the FOX shareholder vote IMO.

Someone’s gotta do it:

Good start, 2kt09, but it seems too Torch-centric. Can you stretch the image out, then make it invisible?

Never knew the Super Smash bros Logo could make for a minimalist Fantastic Four logo...

Can’t believe it’s this week!

Man... I should be way more excited for this vote, and it wasn’t that long ago I was. But ever since the news about James Gunn being fired, its made me feel more or less indifferent about the deal.

I completely understand Disney’s business reasons for taking the actions they did, they don’t want to be seen supporting a man who made all those awful ‘jokes’. I think if it was any other studio, they’d let it slide but this is DISNEY. Still, if anyone deserves to complete their trilogy in the MCU it’s Gunn, and it’s obvious he’s matured since those earlier years. This whole controversy sucks. :csad:

The Gunn stuff is a big blow but these rights are permanent and long term. It could mean seeing 20 X-related films and a bunch of F4 related stuff within the MCU before I tap out, something that didn’t look at all possible not so long ago. Nothing’s going to stop the celebrations on this one for me.

Its not a big blow at all. Feige will find a good director and he will complete the trilogy. If they had lost Feige that would be a Blow. Its gunn's fault he was fired. He kicked a hornets nest and he didn't watch his six while doing it. Disney and Marvel are not to blame

Feige will find another Top Gun soon enough, and life will go on. I'm still excited about Friday.

But I wish it were tomorrow, not because it's one day closer, but so that I could post the next day in my countdown. :D

From my extremely selfish FF-centric point of view, the whole Gunn thing is jarring from this perspective: Imagine we actually get to that point. We've got an FF film on the schedule, cast and crew are set, filming is scheduled to begin shortly... and then something stupid like that happens.

... other extremely selfish FF-Centric thoughts:

Maybe they'll delay it or scrap it and free up a spot...

Maybe they'll steal a director that could have done FF...

Maybe while they're interviewing directors they might find someone who would be right for FF...

This Gunn incident was only stuck in here to add some personal drama to a potential movie of the whole Disney-Fox-Comcast deal. A last minute crisis that has to be averted. It's all for future film purposes! :o

It's hard, not at all practical, and not especially ethical to try and 'thought police' your staff, but I'd think moving forward Disney might just be putting out a 'please watch your doing on social media and clean up your old crap if you have any' memo.

They won't want this nonsense happening again if it can be helped.

The bizarre Cybernazi sponsored firing of Gunn has damped my enthusiasm for the Comcast deal as well. My biggest concern is the continued silence from Kevin Feige. If Kevin was onboard, why didn't he announce the firing? Did Horn make the call unilaterally, bypassing the Studio President? Did this rash decision create a rift? And, if so, will Feige look to move on when his contract is up next year?

I am confident in the integration of the FF and X-Men into the MCU with Kevin Feige at the helm of the studio. I would be a lot less confident with his replacement.

Why would Feige make the announcement? Even if he were onboard, it's not his place to make the announcement. This is coming from Disney, not from some division of Disney. It's coming from the top.

Alan Horn is like the Deputy Director of Operations if this were an agency. He's the one handling all this sort of stuff.
