The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 21

I've wondered if part of the problem was that Namor is a Mutant so even if Marvel had gotten the rights back Fox could have made a claim on him under the terms of their Mutant rights. If so me might see some movement with the character now.

Interesting point.

I think jamming in more characters has a strong track record of ruining CBMs, and saying "No, Marvel is perfect! Look at Civil War!" doesn't change that.
(For one thing, the source material had many dozens of characters with significant roles, Spider-Man was like the third most important, and the Wakandan wasn't any good.)

Marvel has a strong track record of including characters like a Hulk or Black Widow in other movies and them more than working. I don't see why suddenly Surfer wouldn't work, when prior history says it likely would work.

I think Iger's reaction to the news that Comcast was dropping out indicates he didn't think they were done and his pushing so hard on Sky may have been a strategy to keep Comcast off balance and away from Fox.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney stops bidding up Sky, let's Comcast have it, and then sells them their Fox share (with Hulk and Namor as part of the deal).

It has come to my attention that Sky also currently holds some of Disney's ancillary distribution rights in the EU. That's something Disney would want as well as they will want to roll out Hulu (under a different name or not) and Disney streaming.

Here's a simpler explanation: Ryan Reynolds exists in the Fox-verse and he made Green Lantern, just like Star Wars and its actors exist in the MCU. There you go, no reality-jumping involved.
Here's an even simpler question. We already know what Iger intends for the Marvel properties that Fox had, so why get bent out of shape over any minutia?

Where are all of the people who kept telling us that there was no hope at all for Marvel's prodigal heroes to come home? How many times were we told not to be so ridiculous as to think that the FF would join the MCU, much less the X-Men? I want the naysayers to come back for their "We told you sos". :cwink:

Cable is going to be the tricky one. Brolin is great as him and Thanos.

How would they resolve that?

It's really pedantic to care. Thanos is a big grape ape while Cable has Brolin's normal body. It's like saying Vin Diesel shouldn't be allowed to show his face in the MCU because he already dubs three words.

Interesting. It's like things seem to stack more and more in favor of Disney dealing Fox's % of Sky.

But look how greedy we're getting. We just found out that FF and all their associated characters AND X-Men and all their associated characters are coming home (a prospect that would have sounded crazy just a year ago) and we're like: "Yeah, but, damn it, we need Namor too!" :funny:
It’s funny when the original “Keep Hope Alive” thread started it was only started with the expectation/hope that onlyThe FF would go home back to Marvel. Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate the X-Men going back home along with the first family( at least not this quickly). By next year, Marvel will have access to a vast plethora of characters that not even they could’ve foreseen they would get back.

The Sky’s the limit!

Didn't Bob Iger directly confirm that Deadpool will come to the MCU?

Iron Man 2 was a mess and Jon Favreau left. Pretty much the only reason it's not skippable in an MCU marathon is because it introduces BW. If Edgar Wright hadn't messed up the making of Ant-Man, we wouldn't have had to put up with her.
The Hulk was introduced in his own film.

Civil War is the only time this Batman and Robin/Spider-Man 3 "fill the can, step down on the contents, add more" nonsense has worked.

We'll just have to disagree here because I think largely Marvel's been great about it in their movies.

Yeah, that's what's so striking to me. How dramatically everything has changed in just 7 months. I would have fully expected, 9 months ago, that right now I'd just be crossing my fingers that Fox didn't announce anything at Comic-Con, so we could inch one step closer to getting the FF rights in 2022.

It's crazy-good the way this is working out.

We always need to move onto the next thing and be hoping for some rights to come home. After Marvel, then it's DC, then Universal monsters. :o

One theory is that there are lingering rights issue involving Bill Everett's heirs. Namor was introduced in Motion Picture Funnies before moving over to Timely, so the family may have rights to the character that are signed away in a traditional work for hire arrangement.

I'll believe it when I see it. Mark my words: Reynolds' Deadpool will never join the MCU. This is my prophecy. :o

Just a year ago the consensus was “there’s still an outside hope that the F4 revert back, but fox will never let the x-men go”

And now a year later, freakin Disney buys fox. What a world.
