I only wish our FFINO friends were here to join us

Like my ol pal DigificWriter. Fought tooth and nail trying to tell us that Marvel would never get to use any of their sold out film properties. Oh if he were only here now.

I wonder where good ol Alexei is now. I remember when he thought DD wouldn't come back. Good times.

They're an endangered species. There hasn't been any sightings of one since late 2016 :o

Where's CyclopsWasRight to say "well, he was"?

And here's a link that someone named Rike posted:

Why the new Fantastic Four movie will be a hit for Fox:

https://www.fool.com/investing/gene...e-new-fantastic-four-movie-will-be-a-hit.aspx

The cast of the first movie felt like it was a well-stocked TV movie of the week, whereas the new film has a cast that makes it feel like an event film -- a young, hip take on The Avengers cast.

Of course a bad movie can spike the series, but with the cast in place and the wealth of stories in the FF universe available, it seems likely that Fox will deliver a movie that's true to the characters but not as instantly dated as the previous film instantly was.

Then Ant-Maniac adds:

good article. but i'm already convinced.

:funny:

Of you check the old X-men threads it seems more than a few of the ardent Foxverse defenders are no longer around. The current ones are largely quiet right now also.

It's a good day, guys. I haven't posted in this thread much but I have been following it in baited breath frequently hoping for the best and I think we've got the best. :yay:

If you go on the dark Phoenix section you still have some defenders there who think the franchise was great in the hands of fix

Lol whoops. But also I’m seeing a lot of xmen merch and stuff pop up. Xmen in the new vr game, xmen in the new mobile game, xmen statues. Thought marvel put a ban on them. Trying to hype them up again?

I'm still confused about how Comcast owning NBCUniversal and even a phone company owning Warner are legitimate in principle, rather than merely OK because it's impolitic to enforce anti-trust law when the "trusts" are huge political donors. The judges must have some reasoning that's not gibberish.

Movie merch more so than comic based. Don't think there has been anything for Fox film's since Wolverine: Origins.

Statues and such are more in the niche collectables market so I think a few comic based things were still being made there, but around the time FFINO was being made it did seem old Ike had pulled rank and was getting stuff pulled.

X-Men were not included in that last Marvel Vs Capcom thing (which i understand didn't go down well) but mutants have been in other mobile games like Contest of Champions and Future Flight. The FF have been conspicuously absent from both though.

Any chance that XMDP could be moved forward instead of cancelled outright or sent to streaming? It's scheduled for February but perhaps they will move it up a month or two to get it out of the way and over with. MCU/Disney would probably want to get the Fox X-Men universe over with as soon as possible and move it even further away from Cap Marvel. Normally the last month or so are just fine tuning the movie -- but in this case it doesn't matter.

Disney and subsidiary studios have nothing between Mary Poppins Returns on Dec 19 and Captain Marvel.

Think we'll be inundated with X-books soon since this deal looks real?

Uncanny X-Men
X-Men Red, X-Men Blue, X-Gold
X-Force
X-Factor
X-Man

Like the good old days in the 90s? Lol

A chance to shove it out and sandwich it between two other films. It wouldn't be remembered for long. :sly:

At this rate, how good are the chances of a F4 post-credit scene in Avengers 4?

A basic one is very, very high. Sort of like what they did for Captain Marvel. Just enough to garner interest, which in Marvel's hands would be an avalanche. :woot:

^ Exactly what I was thinking. Fury can drop his pager at the end again and instead of the Captain Marvel logo popping it up, it's a number "4" and everyone loses their minds :funny:

More than enough time to come up with and film a F4 or x-men related post credit scene

I believe it can happen

Well it is already scheduled between those two Disney releases. My point was moving it to say, early January and just get it over with. They don't have to acknowledge that they are "dumping it" -- they can say any face-saving thing they want to explain why it is being moved up. I expect them to advertise it as the "end of an era." It hasn't been as great as we would have hoped but there is plenty of fine entertainment in those movies over the years.

Heck, they need not wait for A4. One of the mid/post credit scenes in Captain Marvel could give a tasty little easter egg and then something bigger in A4 and something else in Spider-Man 2 etc., etc, until they finally announce an actual movie based on the recovered franchises.

Any idea on when exactly the deal can be finalized? Any chance by the end of the year?

Late Aug-Sep is my guess right now. Here in the US all that is needed is the shareholder vote next Friday and a judge rubber stamping the sale of the RSN's.

Yes, I assumed by the end of the year but I am just guessing -- I know others here have a solid estimate.

Why Aug or Sept when the vote is 27 July? Why not early Aug?

And what other countries are involved and required to give approval?

Holy ****, this thing could close before Christmas/December?

I don't know if Id call the chances good, but from a practical standpoint they could certainly do something. They knocked up the Shawarma scene for Avengers after it had premiered.
