Venom is a bigger deal than Ultron, he's an A-list Marvel character. Sony robbing the MCU of the potential to use the Symbiote and with the huge cosmic universe, Marvel could REALLY delve into the backstory of the Symbiotes. What we're getting instead is a Venom that nobody wanted and the fans are against. Why couldn't Sony make more animated Spidey films like Spiderverse? Make a cinematic universe centered around that! Nobody would have complained - the movie looks amazing. I could easily imagine a Spider-Gwen spin-off and Spider-Man 2099 in that universe. It's a goldmine. Instead, Sony is stealing villains from the MCU

I think in the event there is a holdup, those assets can be held in trust while the main organization stateside can proceed. Been a while since I've deep dived into international business, as it is quite a jungle.

Yeah, I don't know the mechanism, but there must be a way for them to segregate the business to any particular country and move on while they work it out. Otherwise one small hold-out country could hold a $71 billion deal hostage.

Most of the people who see Venom likely are not going to care, either. Fans do, sure. But we don't make up most of the BO. As long as people like the movie, they will see it.

We'll have to wait and see. I'm open to the Venom movie. I like the costume, Tom Hardy, etc. The villain worries me, but I am reserving judgement until I see it.

MCU Spider-Man vs Sony Venom would be like Batman vs Superman. Two different characters who come together in battle because of a misunderstanding and then eventually team up.

Sony Venom (either the symbiote or Brock) doesn't have a hatred of Spider-Man. They're just two people minding their own business.

Sorry but venom is up there with wolverine and Spider-Man. Venom like it or not is Spider-Mans most popular villain. The hype for Spider-Man 3 was all him. Disney pushes him like crazy. He’s on every Spider-Man related media. Brock or not. Anytime a new Spider-Man universe is explored people ask where is venom like this new spidey PS4 game. If the movie sucks people will say venom looked cool and it won’t tarnish his reputation. Venom has been in pretty much every marvel crossover game and was featured in most games. He’s very popular and as recognizable as wolverine.

I can only speak for myself but I have about as much interest in a Venom movie without Spider-Man, as I would with a Riddler movie without Batman.

The incredibly boring looking trailers have done nothing to change my mind either. I would be surprised if it grossed more than 300 million WW.

I'm really happy that the X-Men and Fantastic Four are finally coming home, as everyone here. Can't wait to wake up tomorrow and see the results. However, there's uncertainty regarding other matters:

Will Disney be able to find a way to completely get back Hulk and Namor from Universal in the future?

What will happen to the Spider-Man rights if the Venom film bombs? Or if it's successful?

What will happen to the Netflix characters once Disney leaves the platform?

Looking at the failure that was Inhumans, would Marvel be willing to bring them back again at some time in the future?

Has it been confirmed that Spider-Man won't be involved in Venom's origin? Sony may not be able to use Tom Holland or anything specifically from the Marvel films without Marvel's permission, but they should still be able to use Spider-man. I don't know how they would do it, but Spider-man could exist in the Venom film as a guy in a costume or he could just be mentioned, but if they want, it seems like they could tie Spider-man into Venom's origin.
