So after the vote, how much time until things are officially announced and Disney can do whatever they want with Fox stuff?

They should be able to, soon after the vote, announce an intended closing date. They probably have a good idea now of when that will be, but they won't announce it until after the vote.

Maybe I or someone else already brought this up, but I really hope that there isn't complete radio silence from Feige/Iger after Friday up to the date of closing. Not sure that scenario is all that likely, though- what do you guys think?

Indeed. Hopefully they will be more open about it.

Well they didn't say very much, if anything, after they got the rights to DD or Ghost Rider back.

I expect it to fall somewhere between radio silence and anything really satisfying for us.

Feige will probably say something like: "It's really great that we're so close to having all these characters back, and I already have some ideas of how I'll use them... but the deal hasn't closed yet and we have projects currently in development that will keep us busy for the next several years, so fans will have to be patient."

I'm hoping by summer of '19, we'll get an announcement of a schedule that will include some cool things.

That's pretty small potatoes in comparison though. No disrespect to those licenses because I think they are both cool, but this is a much, much bigger deal. Both in the licenses they are getting back and the way they are coming. They aren't just quietly reverting. Disney is buying an entire company to get those licenses. I know they aren't buying Fox just for FF and X-Men, but stil ......

I wouldn't be surprised if a few more words were said by Iger or Feige regarding those licenses coming back home even if it's just to reiterate what Iger said back in December.

With a price tag of 71.3 billion dollars and a new film studio, I'm sure we're gonna have the mutants and the 4 lovingly shoved down our throats in the press.

I'm starving so that can only be a good thing. Marvel will feed me :)

How will MCU only fans accept the X-MEN & FF? It's kinda to the point where alot treat them as non marvel characters at this point.

Will they be received with open arms? Or will they be looked at as taking precious film dates away from their MCU favorites?

And then on the flip side you had people like HarryOscorp who got banned because he hated MCU Spider-Man so much.

I can see alot of FOXMEN fans not long for these boards. It'll be tense around here.

I subscribe to the theory of can't beat em.. join em. So I'm with the MCU hype train

There will certainly be some annoyance. I remember when Spider-Man pushed back Ragnarok, Panther and Captain Marvel, a lot of MCU were annoyed. So if Fantastic Four pushes Eternals out of the way, I could see that happening

I think you must have missed the point of this thread all these years.

Why would anyone here treat the FF or X-Men as non characters and not welcome them when they're exactly what people have wanted to get back under the MCU banner all this time?

It was Fox's treatment of them that people disliked all this time, not the characters themselves. Do you think people here hated Fant4stic and the idea of it being made because they hated the characters? If that were so, then no-one would've cared less what was being done to them by Trank and Kinberg.

I hope it's just a bit more than that: "I already have some ideas and here's what might happen." But since I don't think Feige can do that until this closes, I hope we get updates on the smaller things like the international approvals. Even if it's not something huge, it's news. It's updates.

Exactly.

And I'm talking about communication with the fans before closing- not after.

Are that many fans of Eternals?

I know Marvel have been great turning lesser lights into Box Office gold but personally I wouldn't be bothered at all if FF took the Eternals slot.

Depends. There’s a lot of comic book X-Men fans who do not like the Singer films and prefer the MCU overall.

Most MCU fans love those properties and are ecstatic to have them back.

They absolutely will be welcomed with open arms. Spider-Man sure was. So will the X-Men and FF. MCU fans have been clamoring for those characters to appear in the MCU for a very long time.

The Fox loyalists are a dying breed. The vast majority of X-fans want the Mutants in the MCU.

Agreed.

Nobody remembers the fans were angry when Spider-Man shuffled several MCU films?

I wasn't speaking on this thread obviously. The hype is alot bigger than this thread. There was alot of push back from Amazing Spider-Man fans for example in those boards. I expect it to be alot worst.for X-MEN.

I've seen posters in other communities say the X-MEN are dead to them after Dark Phoenix.

Well hopefully Dark Phoenix doesn't come out so that they can't even say that and will have to walk it back to Logan or Apocalypse.

That's so silly, more like the X-Men are more alive and well than ever, there's a light at the end of the tunnel finally... the time to get merc, videogames, cartoons, toys is upon us. And a breathe of fresh air from the same old creative team that has brought the characters into a rut.

Since the beginning, Feige has had a (very wise IMO) strategy of constantly injecting fresh characters. I don't see anyone saying "Damn it, we don't need Captain Marvel crapping up our little world."

The MCU is characterized by it's constant expansion, and that has set it apart from Sony and Fox who had been telling the same stories with the same characters until they grew stale.

I think the real problem would have been if Feige hadn't gotten the new characters and would have been forced to use the same ones and/or keep bringing in new but minor characters who audiences weren't interested in.

And as for Foxmen fans, I can see them complaining right up until they see their characters finally done right and realize those characters hadn't been living up to their potential all this time.

FoxMen fans follow blind leaders and are lost.

It's unacceptable to have a "X-Men" movie that regulates half of the cast to just scenery, unless you're Wolverine, Magneto or Professor X on the script. The one thing the MCU gets right unlike any other comic film I've seen is that they know how to produce a good ensemble story. Everyone gets a chance to shine.

That's just not the case with the world that Singer and Kinberg established.
