The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 22

If Disney hadn't bought them, I think they would have started over with X-Force and Gambit and X-23 and rebooted the main body of X-men at some point down the road.
If I recall correctly, I believe it was said that Dark Phoenix was part of a two-parter. Obviously if that was case, then those plans have been scrapped.

Willie, I'm curious, now that FF and X-Men are going back home do you think it puts movies like Eternals in jeopardy?

It's obvious the folks who frequent this thread know far more about what's really going on with FOX than many of the "journalists" who are writing articles about it.

But my thing is if the status of Dark Phoenix/New Mutants wasn't in jeopardy, wouldn't one think the casts of these movies go on social media to defend their projects? They've all been pretty vocal before.

Sansa Stark said she doesn't even know when she's supposed to report for reshoots and she's the titular Dark Phoenix. And then apparently Josh Boone deleted his social media accounts.

I don't know.

Sounds oddly similar to Simon Kinberg's last big project in which the cast didn't even show up to the premiere. :sly:

I don't put much stock in the people claiming to have sources, but predicting Dark Phoenix is terrible and claiming you have sources isn't a real risky strategy.

I could have told you it would be bad the day they hired Kinberg to direct it.

I think the way for Deadpool to get around any continuity errors is to actually point them out and make a joke about it. He could easily ask why no-one seems to know about mutants in the MCU, but as far as he is concerned, everyone knows about them.

Then he can reference the Disney-Fox takeover.
A joke. You guys want Marvel to smash two universes together and the only explanation you need for it is... none. A joke from the omnipotent and omniscient Deadpool will suffice.

Okay, carry on. I'll keep hoping for Marvel to stick to good storytelling and worldbuilding. So far they have never disappointed me.

Willie, I'm curious, now that FF and X-Men are going back home do you think it puts movies like Eternals in jeopardy?

It may.
If you look at the Inhumans situation and Spidey being brought into the MCU, you could draw a parallel.
However, there is one key factor to consider: Ike.
Back when Inhumans was announced Perlmutter was still in charge, and everyone knows pushing them to the forefront was primarily his idea.
Eternals is different. Feige has had full control for a while now and Eternals seem more to serve the function of further expansion of the Cosmic MCU... They could also work to incorporate a comics accurate intro into mutants and how they came into being, due to their link with the Celestials.
My best guess is the Eternals movie will still happen, although the schedule might have to be reshuffled resulting in it being released a little later than it otherwise might have been.

I don't think my opinion on that is any more valid than anybody else around here, but yeah, I definitely think so.

Eternals would be a nice thing to go to at this point IF Marvel didn't have the FF, X-Men and related rights. They had already used their big names, so something like Eternals would be a logical next step a year ago.

But now they've got big names that are recognizable and they've gone from "were can we go next?" to "how do we fit all these characters in?"

Even if we imagine they only got Silver Surfer and Galactus and nothing else, I think a Silver Surfer movie would bump the Eternals.

And with all the FF and X-men and related characters, there are much more recognizable and potentially lucrative and important to the Marvel universe characters than the Eternals.

It's kind of a bummer in some ways because it would be cool to see the Eternals, but I'd MUCH rather see FF... or a properly done X-Men or Cyclops or Wolverine etc. etc. etc. if I have to choose.

That's not what Willie said.
The point is there doesn't need to be a huge and complicated explanation for it.

How much of an explanation did you need to accept that there have been powerful sorcerers in the MCU, even before Tony Stark became Iron-Man, yet they had never been seen or heard of before?
The MCU movies depict a specific set of events that happen in a place and time period, but the concept that it is a fictional universe implies there are countless other people and events taking place that you don't see simply because they have nothing to do with the story that is being told at that moment.
It is slightly more complicated with mutants than it was for sorcerers, granted, but it doesn't really need to be looked into that closely.

Jeremy Conrad from Furious Fanboys(who've I cited here a few times) wrote this kind of snobby article in which he makes the ill-researched argument that Disney couldn't possibly have any influence on Dark Phoenix because "the deal won't close by until summer 2019.":whatever:

So the guy is using the already flawed closing date that was nothing more than a rough estimation prior to the DOJ approving the deal much quicker than anyone anticipated as the basis for his entire argument. What a way to undercut your credibility there

Have a laugh at his poor article here.

He also still believes that Constastin still owns the FF rights. :funny:

Jeremy Conrad? The guy who said that Deadpool 2 was going to be a disaster? :funny:.

The MCU hasn't gone overboard in explaining things like this to date though has it? Feige knows what's most important to the GA and this is something that only seems crucial to a subset of fans. We've gone from a traditional realistic universe to aliens and sorcerors without too much issue so far. We see Stark saying how crazy everything is and otherwise just dealing with what comes, knowing that pretty much anything is possible at this point. I don't think what most of us want is a departure to how the MCU is already handling things.

Is that DigificWriter at work there?

DigificWriter is out there somewhere.... defending the honor of Constantin Films as well as the concept of separate entities, the world over.

It’s grueling work, but it’s his work. Shine on, my long winded adversary... shine on.

Why is CBM . Com using this site for a source in that long article? Don't they know we hate them

I actually kind of like that they're bringing up the rumours that both Dark Phoenix and New Mutants sucks and can possibly be cancel, just a day before of the excitement of tomorrow's news.

Well I hope some of the actors can get recasted in the MCU as different characters.

Specifically Anya Taylor-Joy & Zazie Beetz

Honor among Fox-Men

Hope they keep Zazie as Domino.

She really was a highlight of that movie.

And JLaw as Emma Frost!

(just kidding)

She shouldn't do comic book movies imo.

Or she shouldn't play someone with powers. Maybe a cop character or something like that. Or like a Trish Tilby type.

If by "in jeopardy" you mean "will get pushed back a year or two", then yeah probably.

If you mean "dropped completely", I'd say probably not.

It may.

Yeah, Inhumans got dropped when Ike got booted, not because of Spidey. Spidey's impact was on Ragnarok, Black Panther & Cpt Marvel, which were only moved back several months, not cancelled.

Deadpool can exist in a hyper-realistic bridge between the MCU and his own universe. Kinda like how he currently exists now with the Fox Films. We don't need a deep explanation
