The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 22

I think a lot of the people who write these online articles are trying to make sense of why there has been so little marketing for Dark Phoenix, and they're trying to tie it to the Disney deal.

But I think the reality is, even without Disney, Fox just wanted to milk one last bit of box office out of the cast and characters before starting over, so they turned it over to Simon Kinberg who they knew could put something mediocre together easily and that was their strategy.

If Disney hadn't bought them, I think they would have started over with X-Force and Gambit and X-23 and rebooted the main body of X-men at some point down the road.

Fox executives: "We need someone talentless and cheap who is a sucker for this sort of thing and will think he's going to get his first big directing break. Now who could fit that bill?"

Everyone looks around at each other for a second, then all present shout unanimously: "Simon Kinberg!!!!"

Excuse me, the one we have is perfect :)

She's ok. But I wonder if she would work well in a Daughters of the Dragon theatrical release.
Maybe I'm just not that impressed with what they've done w her in the Luke Cage show, but that's not really the actress' fault.

I don't see that happening at all. It's not like Jessica Henwick would work so well either. The Iron Fist cast isn't exactly that great.

We're not getting a Daughter of the Dragons theatrical release, so that point is not relevant.

Lol you don't think she's impressive? I don't know about her and Colleen Wing carrying a movie, but Simone Missick and Alfre Woodard are the best things about Luke Cage imo. It's a shame Mike Colter can't act to save his life.

I do sort of agree that of the Defenders, Mike Colter is the worst actor. But wisely, they have not really asked Mike to dig down deep like Charlie Cox and others have in their shows. Mike is fine for what they ask him to do.

I'm particularly fond of Scott "Ready to ****" Buck. I mean the guy has messed up Dexter, Iron Fist, and Inhumans. I don't think Simon Kinberg can compete.

There should never be a Luke Cage or Iron Fist theatrical film. Luke Cage, Hero for Hire, works in episodic format and has powers that are really cheap to show. Iron Fist would have worked cinematically in the past, but streaming has reached new content budgets that easily allow kung fu flicks.
I could see a new Daredevil actor on film, but it should involve Spider-Man helping fight the Kingpin.

I think Daredevil is better left on TV. It is a more mature book than the Marvel movies would allow on screen. I'd rather it be a show and retain the edge. Daredevil on Netflix is best.

Hopefully Disney will put Kinberg, Buck and Trank in a film together.

Willie Lumpkin will win a walk-on part to appear in that movie. :o

I wonder if one day, Marvel will introduce the Netflix characters into the MCU with new actors

I didn't say there would be a Daughters of the Dragon movie. I was just stating a hypothetical because I thought Zazie would be an ideal casting choice had there been one.

As I noted above, I hope not. Either use the actors we have, or just leave them on Netflix.

Like I said, whatever my misgivings about that show, I recognize it's not the actress' fault.
But no, I'm not really satisfied with Misty so far. I thought it would be a lot better than it is, when it was announced.
And yes, Coulter stinks. Although I did notice an improvement in his performance from season 1 in this second outing.

Exactly. He has his little moments here and there but it's the supporting cast that makes that show shine. As far as Daredevil goes, they should give them a crack at a movie. They could make MCU magic.

Honestly I think we see a movie MCU character on a Netflix show before we see a Netflix character in the movies

I enjoy the Netflix shows but I want Daredevil to team up with Spider-Man and Luke Cage and Iron Fist not being nerfed on a tv budget would be nice.

It's a possibility. The MCU and the Netflixverse are getting more and more distant

What about Blade? Netflix or movie for you?

Exactly. Luke Cage asks the supporting characters to shoulder the burden Colter cannot.

With Daredevil in a movie, my worry is even with same cast/crew, without the edge Netflix grants them, it would lose something. I'd be okay if they opted to do like a Netflix movie or something (which may help trim some of the fat that the Netflix shows have been guilty of). But a movie that needs to be PG-13, I think it would end up too tame. Daredevil covers mature topics.

The Kingpin was cast perfectly in DD. Charlie Cox is good as Matt Murdock too. I'd want to see that cast on the big screen.

Luke Cage and Iron Fist aren't that great. Finn Jones stinks as an actor/ martial artist.

Anything can be "really mature" if Frank Miller writes it. :oldrazz:
A Daredevil film guest-starring Spider-Man isn't something Marvel needs for many years, but it'd be cool to see them acknowledge Fisk and the Hand some day after the Netflix version is gone (and it's hard to believe there'll be a new season in Fall 2019).

Not gonna lie, the cybernetic arm was a let down. As much money as they put into these shows they could've atleast used some kind of CGI for her.
