Have Comcast only bid that much because they don't want to drive the price of Sky up?

I thought they are pretty serious about SKY.

So they say i would have gone at least 10% above fox. Is a less than 6% premium worth it for the shareholders tho to pick comcast over fox? Probably not that convincing and could actually be seen as an insult by some shareholders. It doesnt come across as a serious bid.

I think 31 is the magic number. It worked for Bond and it worked with Jackman. And make sure the dude bodybuilds for fun, which is what Connery did when he was discovered and how Jackman kept shirtlessly young-looking until Logan.
Even as little as two years can make a difference if you want a man to look jacked for 17 years.

Hugh looked jacked because he is Hugh Jack man.

I dont think comcast is serious at all about Sky. Their latest bid is less than 6% above Foxs. To me it seems that comcast are once again trolling Disney. They failed to gate crash the main Fox deal now their trying to make Disney pay more again. This is a petty feud that goes back to 2004 because comcast failed to buy disney and disney said theyll buy comcast if comcast didnt back off.
Wrong. Comcast is very serious about Sky. Part of the reason they even gave on up Fox because it would've been impossible for them to win that asset without severely overpaying for it which would've put them in a position in which they would be unable to bid for Sky again. Comcast needs to expand globally which Sky could help them do easily.

The shareholders disagree. bloomberg reported that many of them didnt want fox and dont want sky ether. Its Brian Roberts who wants it.

What's in a name? :gngl:

Well it's true. If his name had been Hugh Stick, he would have had lots of trouble ever building muscle or putting on any significant weight. :o

Yep. On top of that let's look at some facts. Comcast's TV subscribers in the US just dropped quite a bit. Sky just added quite a bit. It doesn't take much analyzing to see what they are looking to do. tl;dr Sky will probably replace Comcast's Subscription TV business. On top of that, if the DOJ succeeds against AT&T, Comcast will have even more reason to either get rid of (or substantially reduce its presence in) its domestic TV service.

Shareholders didn't want Roberts drowning the company in debt. Which is what he would have done had he continued to pursue both Fox and Sky.

Fox is still actively bidding on Sky as well. So that disputes any notion that they don't have interest.

Personally I hope Disney get sky. The potential for greater content distribution is higher.Marvel and Starwars would get a wider international audience through PPV. Plus getting agents of shield same day as the U.S. would be nice.

Im betting tomorrow Fox/Disney will announce a new bid. It just makes a lot of sense once they secure 21CF. They can focus on Sky.

I don't think Comcast are going to let Sky go now after losing Fox to Disney.

Roberts is not going to want 2 losses in a row.

What's Comcast going to buy if it comes out of this with neither Fox nor Sky?

Sure, they could. However that also puts Disney in a similar conundrum.

Let it go and make $$, or keep fight and add to their already considerable debt? Shareholders will prefer the former.

So after the vote tomorrow, the only left will be to get approval in foreign markets? They don't have to sell the Reginal sports networks until after it closes

You can bet your behind that Roberts to going to put all the resources he has gathered into getting Sky.

I would've thought that Disney would focus on selling the RSNs (especially since a huge bidding war is anticipated) and waiting on that foreign approval.

They should just use Sky as leverage to get back the Universal Marvel rights and other stuff they might want.

Foreign approvals, and Federal judge sign off on sale of RSN's.

Deal closes, then RSN sale begins.

Sony can have Venom as a successful franchise but the fact is overall Sony has been losing serious $$$$ for a long while now, and a successful Spider-verse is not enough to cure that.

Kaz Hirai stepping down and Kenichiro Yoshida taking his place makes me lean even more so with my gut that within 5 years or so, Disney will end up owning all of Spidey.

Bear in mind they might bid on Sky just to make Roberts feel some pain by having to up his own bid. Return the favor for forcing Disney to spend more for Fox.

Remember Disney are bidding on Sky through Fox. So the only limit here is Fox. I believe Fox are obligated to bid unless Disney says otherwise.

Well that only works if they manage to call his bluff and he does up his bid again. If not, then Disney will be the ones ending up buying Sky and taking on more debt.

I thought Sky favours Comcast anyway.

Good chance of an unknown or relative unknown I think.

Absolutely. Yoshida is no dummy. He is a numbers guy through and through. Having an entire studio rely on a property that they only have film rights to is very bad optics and just not economically viable in the long term.

Sony is a small fry now. They used to be an electronics giant but that world has left them behind, and as these companies bulk up further Sony will be further outclassed. The numbers suggest an exit. I expect he'll eventually pull the plug.

Disney could make a move on the spiderman rights when they revisit the upcoming contract renewal.
