The Disney/ Fox shareholders' meeting is today in a few hours! Looking forward to seeing it become official!

Will Disney think Spidey is worth 5 billion, though.

Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4 Billion, they spent another $4 Billion on Marvel, the idea that the Spider-Man film rights alone (since Disney own the Merchandising and everything else) is worth $5 Billion is laughable. There is no way Disney would be willing to pay that much.

Wot? It was approved on the 27th last month.

It is the 27th July today isn't it?

Unless...

That number is definitely crazy, but it may just be Sony's way of saying: "Spider-Man is the biggest thing we've got, so we're not selling."

The owner of a dive-bar I used to hang out at in college used to tell us he'd sell the place for a million dollars, knowing darn well nobody would ever offer him a million dollars for it.

But in both cases, if someone made a real, serious offer, they'd consider it.

Comic con 2017.

Speaking to ComicBook.com at San Diego Comic Con, Venom director Ruben Fleischer was asked if his film is approaching an R-rating or, at the very least, pushing the boundaries of violence and darkness. After all, Venom is a character known to be quite intimidating in Marvel Comics, given his violent and horrifying nature.

"That's the plan," Fleischer said. "It is not the plan, that's the movie. Our movie wants to honor the comics as close as we can tonally. In the comics, he bites people's heads off and eats brains. It would be weird to make a movie with Venom if he wasn't doing that. We tried to honor it as closely as possible. This is definitely a darker, more violent, more vicious Marvel character than I think anyone's ever seen before."

Sounds like Ruben is going for an r rating. If they push PG13 to the limits they could end up with MA15 which would still lock out some of the younger MCU fans. And the box office will take a hit as a result.
The box office for Logan and Deadpool would say otherwise.....
Given the success of Deadpool and Logan, why is SONY afraid to go R-rated with Venom?
Because it's SONY. Every decision they make is focus-grouped to heck and back and all Avi Arad has ever cared about is selling toys.

:funny:

What if nobody had set you up for that? Would you have just stewed silently all day waiting for somebody to comment? :funny:

That has happened a few times when people don't take the bait.

There was an old lady who owned a Teriaky place in a little plaza where I went to college. A big developer bought that land and wanted to build a hotel there. Everyone else sold but that old lady was stubborn lol. My friend who was part of the acquisition team was saying the lady was asking for 10MM or whatever haha (let's say the fair asking price was 500K). I think the developer offered her up to 3x that but she wouldn't budge.

What they ended up doing was they "squeezed" the Teriaky restaurant. They started building and getting the trucks and working people there. Legally they had to keep a path to the lady's restaurant, which they did. But no one was going anymore. No parking, noisy and dirty outside, etc. There were better options.

Long story short, lady ended up selling for the fair asking price. At that point she had no more leverage. She should have taken the mil.

We all have our favorites Willie, but in the end true fans like us care about the entire Marvel pantheon. If not all, then the vast majority. Most of them are great characters and we want them all done justice.

I think Spidey and his related characters is going to be what keeps us worried going forward.
I might be freaking out at the eminent evisceration of Jean/Phoenix next Feb. But at least there is still hope it will be shelfed. And even if it isn't, they won't be able to mess with my mutants for much longer, the morons that have been disrespecting them for far too long.
Hulk and Namor are being held hostage by Comcast/Universal, but at least they're not allowed to make horrible films to inflict them on us and the unsuspecting public.... But Sony, they're a big problem.
Times like these I wish Thanos' snap were able to affect the entire multiverse and cross over into our reality, erasing several problem children :woot::o

:applaud

He is happy. Can't you see him smiling here?

That's hilarious. Somehow I missed seeing that one.

Feige will convince iger that its worth it they saw how much homecoming made. Disney must hate losing out on that homecoming $$$. Infinity War making 2 billion was partly because of spiderman.

The best part is that Marvel would have the ability to NOT make a Spidey film when that is necessary. Like how WB gave Batman a break after Batman and Robin. Sometimes you just need to let the public miss the character and bring them back fresh.

Sony can't do that. They are forced by the contract to keep pumping out Spidey movies whether or not it makes sense. It's a character killer.

Spidey would be worth a lot more if he were back with Marvel.

Venom is probably not rated R. THAT is a problem. Any Venom movie worth its weight in ooze should be Rated R. And trust me, kids would still find there way in. I saw a kid at Deadpool 2 with his family who literally had to sit in a high chair to see the screen.

But R rated movies do make less. Some kids find their way in, but not nearly enough to make as much as a PG movie. That's why it was such a big deal when Deadpool and It made so much. They are outliers. It wouldn't have even been a headline if they were PG.

And they have lower budgets too...there is a reason for that.

If you don't know who Coulson is by now you've been living under a rock.

For some reason you don't seem to understand that there's a lot of people that watch the movies who don't watch Agents of SHIELD nor do they remember who Coulson is in the movies.

It didn't help that he initially spelled the name incorrectly. I was also like "Who the eff is Coulston?"

FX is playing Fan4stic at 2 AM EDT, just in case anyone here has to see it to settle a bet. :funny:

Once Disney owns FX and the other Fox cable channels, who's gonna play the worst Fox-Marvel movies? Daredevil, Electra, 4stic, XOW, etc., will be dumped like so much toxic waste. :hehe:

I never said I'd do that sober. And as I work today, glad I skipped it.
I will watch it soon, after the deal is closed and approved.
As marked by when Kevin Fiege says "I got the call".

So you’re saying the deal will be good or bad for the environment? :woot:
