And realistically, China probably doesn't have any big objections. They want Disney doing business in China, but there are probably also some concessions they'd like to get. So they may not make it easy and they may demand some things, but they won't be putting up a brick wall.
Yep. Disney is pulling in very good business in China They are quite a draw to various parts of Asia as well. Some of my family overseas spent time going to China just for the Disney parks. It's been a very good business relationship for both of them. This a ginormous boon to China.

Even with the disputes between the US an China, I don't foresee this being a big issue. China knows at the end of the day, that the draws could become even bigger.

If not China, what are the chances of the FCC approving the deal?
The only parts the FCC will deal with are the cable channels. (FX & FXX, NatGeo). Disney doesn't have a premium movie channel (beyond the Disney Channels). FCC shouldn't have any issues.

I think there would've been an issue with the FCC if Disney purchased the Fox Network, which was not part of the deal, correct? Since Disney already owns ABC.

Disney bidding just to make comcast pay more for Sky could back fire. If they bid too much they could win and end up paying twice as much for Sky.which could cripple Disney financially for the next 3-5 years which could be part of Roberts plan. It could make them more open to a hostile takeover bid. So in the end Comcast could get Disney Sky and Fox. But thats a nightmare scenario. Im sure Disney wont bid on Sky unless theyre sure they can afford it.

I don't think there's any danger of Disney being taken over by Comcast anytime soon...

Correct. Nobody is allowed to own more than 1x of the broadcasts networks. Which is still kind of silly and irrelevant nowadays (technologically speaking). Year after year, their influence wanes.

Yet... the Murdochs will now hold a block within a competing network, via the deal, the one roadblock that might rise up and bite them.

You can own shares in competing networks. It's just that one company can not own more than one.

There is another poster out there and it’s absolutely garbage. They put all the characters who have relevance in the mcu up front including some inhumans. It’s a disgrace. Lol. No xmen or ff. It’s a very boring poster to

I remember the last time I was at Disney World, I stopped in their Marvel store and couldn't find any X-Men or FF items. I'm going back in November and I hope they'll have some cool new things.:woot:

Oh man, that is so true. I remember the early 2000s when Targets were full of X-Men merch and X-Men themed toy aisles in Toys R Us (RIP)

I can't wait for that day to return. To see people loving the XM and F4 again. No longer will they be the step children outcasts of the Marvel family.

In a few years, you could possibly see Four Freedoms Plaza at Disney's Hollywood Studios. That would be something...

Captain Marvel in March and Avengers 4 in April? Is that a good idea?

Maybe they could move up Captain Marvel's release date as well. Have it come out in February like Black Panther did.

Valentine's Day. Hurry up Dark Phoenix or give it the International Woman's Day slot.

This is confusing to me. If Disney/Marvel doesn't make a FF movie by 2022, to whom do the rights revert?

Once the deal is closed any existing contracts with Fox can be torn up, burned, and the fire put out by Josh Trank's dog pissing on it.

Thats a bit of a grey area and well need to wait for someone like Feige to clarify some details. Would the rights revert to constantin or marvel? Or does disney buying fox mean they acquire Constantin? Or did Fox get the full rights back wthout us noticing? They seemed to be able to start development on a dr doom movie without trouble. So who knows. We have no reason not to take disney and Iger at their word when they said F4 is coming home.

It came from the press release last December and from Bob Iger. They would have double and tripple checked before announcing it.

More likely id assume that Disney has acquired Constantin.

Not with the constantin mystery again.

Here we go again

Constantin Films :o

Ok...
Constantin have been a passenger in this deal since around 1995 when they, with Marvel's agreement, signed over full control to Fox, as they clearly could not make an FF film remotely worthy of a theatrical release at that time.

In 1999 it was Fox, NOT Constantin, who got an extension as Fox had been dragging their heels and the reversion deadline was looming (this is why the rights did not revert although there was 12 years between the Constantin Corman effort and Fox's Story flick).

The only thing Constantin kept was a co-producer credit and distribution rights in Germany and I think Austria. Fox financed and controlled the films in full. If Fox had let deadline run out the rights would have reverted back to Marvel and Constantin couldn't have done a damn thing about it.

So now with Marvel buying that Fox contract, the FF rights will be home. It is possible Constantin might still have a claim for an 'in association with' credit under the terms agreed with Fox & Marvel back in the 90's, and maybe limited European distribution rights as before (although the latter might have been more of a courtesy than a legal requirement). If that is the case Disney can either let them keep that token gesture, cut them a check to piss off, or if they saw fit simply wait until the deadline runs out in 2022 and be done with them for good.

Whatever happens, the deals closes, the FF are home.

OK....I quit. LOL. I guess I'd rather stir the pot than smoke it.

Not just merchandises, but also video games! I want to see a new Marvel Alliance where we'll get to play all the Marvel superheroes again.

I geeked out simply seeing costumed Storm and Rogue actors at Universal Studios in Orlando.

I am so ready for X-men merchandize!

I'm so glad I skipped out on Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. That looked like such a shallow corporate product like "this is what you want, right???"

It will probably be the other way around soon with that stuff being promoted as the up and coming next big thing.

They do an X-Men show there?

The gameplay is awesome on that game. And this is from a X-MEN fan with none of my characters involved
