Gosh an X-Men game would be great. I want as much X-Men related merch as possible. I’m sick of going into even pop culture stores and not finding a single X-Men thing.

The Skrulls. Okay, this is kind of a deep cut, but hear me out. The shapeshifting, lizard-like alien race first appeared way back in Fantastic Four #2, making them Fox property. However, they had their biggest star turn in Marvel’s late 60s epic Kree-Skrull War, a six-part story written by Roy Thomas and mostly drawn by Neal Adams, that had the Avengers and Captain Marvel stuck in the middle of a confrontation between two races fighting over Earth because of its strategic position in their ongoing conflict. Sound familiar?

The Kree, led by Ronan the Accuser and his boss, the Supreme Intelligence, have turned up in both the movies and in the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD TV show, and are likely to play a much bigger part in next year’s Captain Marvel movie. Without their natural cosmic adversaries, however, they lack meaning and menace. Plus, the Skrulls’ ability to imitate humans gives them a paranoia-inducing “invasion of the body snatchers” quality that has been used to good effect in comic book stories over the years. And then of course there is Super-Skrull, a genetically-modified member of the species who combines the powers of all of the Fantastic Four. Lots of possibilities if these creatures get loose in the MCU to cause trouble for the Kree, the Avengers and the Guardians.

Yeah, it really is a shame. I too wish Marvel had the rights to put the Skrulls in Captain Marvel, but oh well.

There's no question, Marvel NEEDS Doom and Galactus. If this deal hadn't happened, they should have/would have worked some sort of deal with Fox that would have allowed them to use at least those characters.

It's great that it worked out as well as it did, and now they don't have to jump through any hoops.

But if Marvel hadn't bought Fox, I think there would have been some sort of sharing deal at the very least, and the catalyst/leverage for that would have been Doom and Galactus.

If the trailer is any indication, the Sony Keep Hope Alive thread won't need to go on for too long!

Maybe someone's been watching Dirk Gently and likes using it as a buzz-word?

I think the trailer looks alright. I'm overlooking the cgi for the most part as it will never be as good as it should be. There are elements I do dislike about it though. However the main thing for me is there doesn't seem to be that much to the movie itself. Hardy is the only draw I see here.

I'll be damned they sure did. Watching that whole trailer again, it feels like a DCEU movie.

This seems like a bonafide flop.

I see it getting a lot of tweets, but I was curious what the fans think, so I just popped over to the Venom thread.

Wow! It's getting trashed by the fans. That still might be influenced by the whole rights situation, but I see very few people excited and standing up for it. So even if that is partly because of the rights situation, I can't see a film like this doing well without an enthusiastic fan-base.

I hope it bombs just to put an end to this nonsense, but it's hard to predict.
