I think Marvel is gonna do an elseworld’s sorta thing sooner rather than later and just say boom, here are different versions of different characters and here’s why. We’ll see if the Netflix characters come up then but that’s just speculation on my part.

Feige is a master-planner and that's (part of) why we love him.

We all know that Feige can't make any formal plans for the returning heroes now, but we also know that he's been thinking up informal contingencies for them since about 2006, which is when he was appointed co-president of Marvel Studios. Every time reporters asked Feige whether he thought that Marvel Studios would ever get all of its characters back, his replies would be cagey and noncommittal but it was clear that he desperately wanted it to happen. And, I believe, it was equally clear that he had some very good ideas about what he would do with his prodigal heroes if and when they returned.

Now that the Fox acquisition is all but a done deal, Feige and his brain trust are doubtless spending part of their time dreaming up scenarios for the FF and the X-teams. Whatever we fans can think up, Marvel will create something better. Whoever we fan-cast, Marvel will come up with actors who suit the characters even more perfectly. All they have to do is wait until the word "Go!" comes down from on high.

I love that with all that forward planning, things seem to still be flexible enough to change things quickly like with Spider-man.

That's true. Feige & co. have a talent for adjusting their plans/scripts when opportunities arise. Markus & McFeely said that Feige had them think about including Spidey in CW, but he didn't poke his head into their office and go "Thwip!" until Sony agreed to the deal late in the scriptwriting process. They were able to integrate Peter into the film relatively quickly and smoothly.

This is what gives me a small bit of hope that the Fox hostages can at least be teased in upcoming films in the next couple of years. I don't want to get my expectations too high, but I do hope we'll see something that indicates that the returning heroes are in the universe soon.

Yes, I hope so. I’m sure they’ll manage it in the best way anyway so if we have to wait I’m cool with that too. I think Feige will have a number of set paths that could work depending on how things turn out with availability and reception to new films.

I would be more than happy to see the sort of minor foreshadowing we got early on in the MCU. Things like the prototype of Cap's shield in Iron Man, Thor's hammer and Wakanda on a map (but unnamed) in Iron Man 2, etc.. Things that would excite us as comic book fans but wouldn't require that the roles had been cast or films written as yet. Just name-dropping Reed Richards or Latveria would be enough to set all of the fandom in a tizzy. Not that it takes that much nowadays. :-)

All sounds great to me, without having to commit to anything. Not really any reason to not do this kind of thing as soon as they get the go ahead.

I always can't help but laugh inside whenever I hear the inevitable screeches of "BUT- BUT- BUT they already have a schedule and can't do X-Men/FF movies until 2021 or 2022!!!!!11!!!oneeleven". And this is from people like us, mind you- people who want this to happen.... :wall::wall::wall::wall:

And yes, they might- might- need to wait to 2021 for a full-fledged movie, but does any sane person think we'll go that long without even a suggestion of the deal?

These companies perceive things like the Disney-Fox deal way before they let it be known to the public. Who’s to say they had rumblings about buying Fox and mapped out the possible movies from now until 2022 to include X-Men/F4?

I really do hope they move briskly with X-Men though. I’m watching X-Men 1 now on Starz and I’m just cringing at some of this and that horrible half accent Halle tried. Cyclops didn’t even get a fight scene in this movie but Wolverine gets like 4.

Fix this Feige.

X-Men may be a while because the Fox franchise still has it's fans plus Dark Phoenix is out next year. The little hints and setting up mutants may start relatively soon, but a full blown X-film may take a while.

X-Men will likely be done relatively quickly because of how popular the brand is and the potential it has. Fantastic Four is toxic right now so there is less incentive to hurry. It will probably have to take a back seat to more proven charscters. They are less likely to shove, for example, a Dr. Strange sequel out of the way for FF than they would for X-Men.

Iger has repeatedly mentioned the X-Men in the Investor calls so I don't expect us to be waiting more than 4 years for their first movie. It's going to be a big priority for Marvel Studios

I think F4 will be done first as we've never had a good F4 film and the probability of disappointing fans is relatively lower compared to xmen. we've had good xmen movies with actors we love in their roles, so there's more pressure on them to make a movie that is great, fresh and different from what we've seen before. Not to talk of the pressure on them to get the perfect cast, especially that of Wolverine, Charles, Erik and Storm.

Not even sweating Dark Phoenix because that’s a question mark right now.

Even if we don’t get the full on X-movie right away, you know they will start meshing X-Men characters into the MCU some type of way. Magneto would be a great season 1 cliffhanger for that Scarlet Witch show.

But seriously, X1 was just horrible and so quiet.

True. I wouldn't mind seeing a reference to him at the end of the show.

You’re really overestimating the damage the previous FF films have done. Most people don’t really remember the FF films enough to be turned off from ever seeing another FF film especially if you allow a good amount of time to pass before we get Fantastic Four. Unlike the X-Men, The FF are very easy integrate into the universe especially since they’re only four characters really unlike X-Men where they’re dozens of them around and you’d have go through the trouble of explaining why we haven’t seen Mutants in the MCU before(the in-universe reason, not the obvious real-life legal reasons). Heck the earliest a FF film could possibly come out would be 2021 and that’s a good 6 year time gap between Fan4stic and the MCU Fantastic Four. Hardly anyone is going to be thinking about the previous films by then.

Whedon did drafts for that X-Men film and one of the few things they kept was Wolverine’s “You’re a d**k” line to Scott as well as Storm’s infamous ‘toad’ line.

I’m just impressed by the sheer amount of shade Magneto threw in that movie.

Everything else is just.... :/
In retrospect, it's a decent movie. But it will always be remembered for what it did for the CBM genre as opposed to the what was in the movie itself.

Btw, Brazil approval is tomorrow

There is no rush on feiges part to integrate ff or xmen. Saying that though if i was him as soon as the deal is complete i would arrange to see noah hawley and ask him what his plans for a doom movie are.

Feige can't make any firm plans yet because it might be seen as coercion which i believe could threaten to derail the takeover. Not saying he wont have ideas or even informal talks with his own people but think he'll wait till the deal is 100% done before making concrete plans.

That Doom movie does not need to be made imo. But maybe they can rework it into a Disney+ series

I wasn’t expecting that with upcoming MCU films anytime soon. Were you? Or did you mainly mean non-film projects?

He can update his bedroom wallchart. That’s all that counts. :cwink:
