I think you missed this. .

Its not a closing date. It can still close much earlier than June.
I didn't realize there was a difference? Also, this is odd because I'm pretty sure even Disney itself was expecting it to close in the first quarter of 2019.

I hope that Dark Phoenix news is true. Please Feige, save the brand and save one of the greatest X-Men stories of all time for the MCU

I’m much more concerned about New Mutants especially if the rumors about the extensive reshoots are indeed true.

Ben Affleck is confirmed to be out as Batman!

Quick guys let’s do some fancasting of Affleck in the MCU! Who could he play!?

I have to say, this has me a little nervous. If this doesn't get done until June, it could give Fox the traction they need to start their projects, which in turn would delay the MCU debuts of the Fox characters.

Good riddance, Sadfleck. Never liked him as Batman :down.

Well, selling a few sports channels is rather minor since sports programming distribution is nowhere as valuable as broadcasting rights.

The trouble is finding a buyer. Rumor has it that CADE is now sounding out any likely buyer for the channels who is experienced and not the other existing player ie Globosat. There aren’t that many options and it’s not sure what CADE will do if it can’t see any reasonable chance DIS can sell the channels even after it has granted approval on condition of a channel sale post merger.

Btw Mexico’s COFECE will review the deal on Jan 31 https://www.cofece.mx/conocenos/pleno/asuntos-por-resolver/

It still needs Chile to okay it.

Mexico will approve the deal before Brazil lol. Maybe Disney might pull out of Brazil for a while. And return after the deal closes so they can work something out when time is less of a factor.

Honestly much like Willie im getting tired of this guessing game and wondering whats going on with the remaining approvals. I just want it to be done. its exhausting. constantly worrying about it.

I could see it. Maybe Norman Osborn?

Osborn is an interesting possibility. Affleck would be a distinct change from previous portrayals. A handsome, smoother Osborn could be much more insidious and menacing. But can he play crazy? Portraying a demented villain might give Affleck a chance to do something new.

Simon Williams/Wonder Man is more in line with roles Affleck has played in the past. He has a larger-than-life persona and a healthy dose of egocentrism, which could make him a fun character if he's written right.

But why worry? We know that it's just a matter of time before the deal is completed. Back when Comcast jumped into the bidding, worrying was well justified because that could have scuttled everything. Now it's down to wrangling over relatively minor issues that won't derail the deal.

That's pretty much in line with how Osborn was portrayed in Dark Reign. I could see Marvel burrowing more from that as opposed to getting into the Green Goblin shenanigans again. (Something that could still happen down the road) Affleck could play a charismatic Osborn with a couple of screws loose.

I'd be down for him as Wonder Woman as well

Wonder Man yeah lol. He has the look and physique for that.

As for Osborn, yes I'd like to see him introduced and just be Norman Osborn for a fair while. A Green Goblin turn can come later down the line.

Brazil still dragging their feet as we can see  Who would have thought that Brazil would be more difficult than China. Everybody thought the latter was going to be the biggest road block.

Wonder if it's possible to pull out of Brazil altogether if they keep being difficult
They want that ransom money!

I think they are aware the industry is eyeing them at the moment. The SD COMICCON-style convention they just had in Sao Paulo a month ago was a huge success. They're probably aware that the movie industry sees them as a lucrative market, especially studios like Marvel, Warner and Sony... Plus, look at what they're dangling in front of Disney's face, Sports. That is huge over there... Somebody wants that Disney ca$$$h badly.

I think there's a knee-jerk psychological reaction that's hard to avoid. I've been waiting for a good FF film since the mid-seventies and every time I think I'm going to get one, something goes horribly wrong.

So from a rational point of view, yeah, let's just relax and wait.

From a Pavlovian point of view, it's hard not to drool when the bell rings.

He wouldn't be bad as Wonder Man, but I'd prefer Henry Cavill in that role instead, as he needs a good comic book role and that would suit him. I don't think Affleck would really want to be in yet another comic movie after his DD and Batman weren't that well received. And Wonder Man wouldn't ever be a movie headliner.

That was another thought I had while reading this: "How much before?" I think they want to state things conservatively because of the holdup with Brazil and Mexico. Hopefully, we'll know a lot more on the 5th with the Q1 conference call.

This is cool:

Iron Man made the list.

CADE sent letters to 8 companies asking among other things if they are interested in buying all or part of the sports assets.

The letters are posted on the CADE site and it could take a bit of time for response.

It sounds like it is not convinced of behaviorial remedies that DIS wont abuse the market power post merger so it’s leaning toward strucutural ie asset sale. Read: DIS didn’t offer enough money to the commissioners.
