Phase 3 villains are way better than the previous 2 phases. I do wish Ant Man 2's Ghost would have been more threatening, though; she's more like an antagonist than a villain.

I think that was 100% intentional, and to the benefit of the film. Ant Man 2 wasn't about defeating a great evil, it was about a bunch of flawed people trying to do the best they can.

Sony Planning Several Spider-Man-Related TV Shows

Does this mean Sony and Marvel would have had to have sat down and talked recently? Doesn't Marvel/Disney have to green light spider-man related shows?

Correct. Unless a) Sony circumvents the contract by giving each episode 72+ mins (IIRC), essentially making it a series of movies or b) The 2015 contract was amended to give Sony rights to TV shows then they had to have sat down and amended the contract again.

I think Feige is interested in Hawley's script but he knows that he needs to modify it in order for it to fit within the MCU. Who knows? Maybe Feige will ask Hawley to direct a Fantastic Four film instead of a solo Doctor Doom film.

The Russos are in Feige's ear and might advocate for Feige to consider using Hawley's talents(he's really talented).

Cant wait for the End Game press tour. Wonder what easter eggs and teasers feige will drop about the mutants and first family.

I should clarify that Sony 100% does not have the rights to short form animation tv shows. That reverted in 2009. I'm unsure on live action tv shows, which the variety article was alluding to. I would have to search the contract for that.

Hawley said during the panel, as he has before, that he envisions Doctor Doom as a geopolitical thriller more than a standard superhero movie. It begins with Doom putting a dome over Latveria, the fictional European country he rules. He later invites a female journalist to be his voice to the world, meaning its protagonist would be someone without superpowers.

Wow, a Doctor Doom movie focused on a journalist with no superpowers. What an exciting premise

So does this mean its time to turn this thread's attention to Universal and Sony?

This thread should always stay open. First off, definitely look at Universal and Sony. And then after that, we need to think of some other rights that Marvel can acquire that they used to have as comics. Maybe Conan, Red Sonja, Micronauts, Rom the Spaceknight, etc.

A What If series would be cool. Will these actors reprise their roles though?

Sidebar: I’m in Captain Marvel and they just played a preview for a Charlize Theron movie, and she totally needs to be MCU Raven Darkholme. Just saying.

Guys what the hell do we do to celebrate history?!

We gotta do something special to celebrate the First Family and the Merry Mutants coming home. Its been so long since they've been away.
I'm playing Simon and Garfunkel's "Homeward Bound" over and over, saving the Oz-meister for the 20th, while having some brews, and plotting a way to keep alive until I have it all back...

Expect Feige to talk about the new properties on the press tour for Endgame
Feige commenting upon it, have DP walk out (in full DP regalia) and hug him, asking "Is it true? Am I really home?" Then drop a cuss bomb, have it censored by Evans yelling "Language" until Reynolds tells Chris "I liked you better as a matchhead!" or Feige could just state that he's taken out a conditional gold card on Ruffalo, have Reynolds in his Deadpool outfit siddle up to him at every question asked on the talk shows, acting like "I get to kill the hulk! oboy oboy oboy, ouch"

So does this mean its time to turn this thread's attention to Universal and Sony?

Let's celebrate until Endgame, then.... Bloody straight we go for the jugular to get those back!

Why focus on the fascinating supervillain when there is an ordinary person you can put at the center of his story? Since it's a female, Doom can fall for her, leading to all manner of complications.

Sounds like fan fiction to me. Or an FX TV show. :ebr:

OH GOD JUST STOP SONY. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS SPIDER-MAN AND FOR THE GOOD OF THE FRANCHISE STOP THIS NONSENCE.

“We have the next seven or eight years laid out as to what we’re going to do with that asset, and that will not only be on the film side — it’ll be on the TV side,” says Vinciquerra. “Our television group will have its own set of characters from within that universe that we will seek to develop.”

hmmmm... Negotiation tactic? like, "hey, Marvel/mouse... toss us money/properties or we TASM them."?

They cant just be happy they got spider-man in the MCU can they? they are leeching of Feiges hardwork making millions of dollars why cant they just let feige take the reigns and just keep the money rolling in? ugh.

If I remember correctly, wasn't there a woman Doom was falling for in Bendis' Invincible Iron Man?

But i agree, this movie imo shouldn't be made and going this route with the story just makes it worse

As was suspected, it sounds like Hawley based his script on Brubakers 'Books of Doom'.

Script must be good if Feige is interested. Come on Feige make it happen.
