I- yeah, I'm not fine with it. Sure, if the F4 had already been done well and they said all they had to say with good F4 films, I'd be open to it. But as it stands now, I just want them done right and changing the iconography of the team is frankly pointless. There's no reason to do it.

And the "best actor" for the role (before somebody uses this point) would be the actor that has all of the traits ascribed to a character.... Including race.

Also a black Johnny-Sue dying their hair to be blonde would be... Weird. Doing that would just shine a foglamp on the pointlessness of the change

It's an adaptation so I have no problems with it. Things will change.
I see no problem if they change the race of the Storm's and they dye their hair blond. Race isn't important to the characters, the only one it effects is Ben who should always be Jewish.

Ben is the only one I have a problem with changing as him being Jewish is important to the character.

Wait, I forgot about Ben's jewishness (not sure if a real word) and his blue eyes. Okay, I don't want Marvel to change Ben either.

I'd rather not have an Asian Reed and go with an Asian Namor, Shang-Chi is on the way too. Not that that matters, but I'm not big on an Asian Reed
As I said an Asian Reed would probably be seen as a stereotype. That's a can of worms that would be best left unopened.

Well, that's you, man. I personally don't care for it. I want the MCU Fantastic Four to be THE definitive adaptation of Fantastic Four. They deserve it. Just because it's an adaption doesn't mean you can change the Origins of the F4 so they get their powers from a radioactive fossil fuel explosion while they are all racing on a dirt bike road. An adaptation does not give them a good-faith pass to just change whatever the heck they want, otherwise, fans would not hate Trank's reimagining. That's not a good way to justify any change simply because it's an "adaptation".

I mean, if we got a race-bended (probably biracial) Reed that still looked like the character from the comics, I'd be fine with that. But I want him to look like the character, personally.

Ben getting changed would sort of be pointless considering he's going to be a CG rock monster 95% of the time.

I don't want any race swaps but if somebody had to, I'd rather it be Reed. Because if you change Sue, you have to change Johnny. None of that Trank nonsense where Sue is adopted. And as a black person, I can assure, I'd NEVER dye my hair blonde because I'd look like I'm cosplaying as a character from Bleach. If you race swap Sue and Johnny, don't dye their hair. Johnny and Sue were born with their hair, they don't have it "just because". You're just going to be calling even more attention to the contrived nature of the race swap.

Well if they kept doing nerdy Reed, then yes it would be a stereotype. But they should definitely not go down that route for Reed whatever his race.

But all jobs could be stereotypes for Asians. Business men? There's plenty of Asian businessmen. Scientists? Nope, too typically Asian. Inventors? No. Asians have invented lots of things. Fighters? Nope. Too many martial arts films. That rules everything out. :o

I don't want an Asian Reed though.

I am not sure about Ethan Peck. It's really hard to get a proper read on him in Star Trek Discovery, because he's playing a very cold and almost emotionless character in Spock. And then he's also written not even like classic Spock as he also has these outbursts of emotion too. It's almost easier to try to guess how he'd be like from his real life interviews than from anything in Star Trek so far.

That's not going to happen. But the casting for the team may be more diverse than some are comfortable with.

And this is coming from a black man, let's leave the Fantastic Four white. After a while, having diversity for the sake of being diverse is a little patronizing. All that work racebending established characters, you could've been making new ones to add color to the mythology.

And maybe I've been watching Law & Order SVU too much but I'm starting to see Detective Rollins as the Invisible Woman.

As an Asian, I don't want an Asian Reed. I also prefer the FF remain as their classic versions from the comics.

Who is Det. Rollins played by?

I'd prefer an Asian or Latino Reed if they HAD to. Someone like George Young

Or Santiago Cabrera

Because they'd still look like comic Reed. Also, an Asian Reed would only be a stereotype if he's portrayed as weak, shy and nerdy. If he were a strong, confident leader who becomes one of the faces of the MCU- that wouldn't fall under a stereotype.

I don't know how old he is, but Young looks far too young for Reed. Asians tend to look younger than they are, so you probably need to cast older, otherwise he's going to end up looking more like Johnny Storm.

But he would still be great at science. Wouldn't that be a stereotype? I'm not Asian, that's why I'm asking.

It would be like making a superhero movie starring an Asian martial artist... oh wait :o

Kelli Giddish. She can do the drama and action scenes well.

Don't know why people have to bring up their own race. If you don't agree, you don't agree and that's fine. I'm fine either way, just want a great FF film. Marvel's gonna do what they want no matter we say.

Having said that, Oscar Isaac is still my top choice for Reed.

Well, he just turned 39. There are other pics of him that look older

I think Reed looking a little younger may be better for longevity. I mean, he'll be playing Reed for 10-14 years. You don't want him looking like someone's grandpa by the second movie lol

Oscar Issac is a latino guy who’s like one of the most popular choices to play the character. I’m not for race-bending the Four myself but post-Black Panther Marvel stated they’ll be going for more representation in their casting going forward. Unless the FF is a period piece set in the 60’s I’m not sure there’s a scenario in which Marvel is going to cast an all-white superhero team with no minority representation in modern day.

Some people have suggested that they could racebend some supporting castmembers like Willie Lumpkin instead but really I don’t think that’ll be enough to Marvel since those supporting characters play a very minor role in the FF stories where they’re usually traveling different locations constantly.

Reed is the most logical choice to racebend and I think pretty much everyone would be happy with Oscar Isaac in the role.

I'm still holding out hope for Brad Pitt as Reed to be honest. He did Deadpool and was a contender for being Cable, so it's not like he's totally adverse to a comic book serial role.

Brad Pitt is way too old at this point for it.

Brad Pitt will have to undergo more Benjamin Button de-aging for Reed. He can be the Cable guy (unless Jim Carrey wants to do it) as Josh Brolin can't be both Thanos and Cable.

I'd be really okay with this

Haven't seen Isaac In anything besides the Star Wars movies but he's got the look down. Also, a bearded Reed would be nice change of pace
