I understand Reed is a fan of the material but he's one of the blandest directors in the MCU and I'm afraid Feige will pick him because he knows how big a fan Reed is of FF(Feige was there at Fox back when Reed was originally developing a FF film).

Maybe he was bored of ant-man by the time the sequel came around and only did it to ensure his future at Marvel? I hate using the term but Ant-Man 2 is the definition of what the internet likes to call a cookie cutter movie. You can tell it was produced in a factory. No individual style or flare. Just a plain bland boring look.

Ah, the old “no news, let’s fancast” thread.

But fine, I’ll play along. I love the Henry Golding suggestion. I hadn’t heard that one yet for Reed and he’s just about to be really famous so now would be a good time to “pluck” him.

And I know we’ve covered it ad nauseum but MCU Netflix will not be canon soon enough, guys. It doesn’t matter. I get that some of it was good and guys like D’Onofrio (and honestly ONLY him) can probably never be outdone but it’s not canon. It probably never has been canon. It’s a one-way street. Has never been two-way. It’ll be like Legacy in hindsight.

All that to say, Alice Eve is a great choice, despite “Iron S**t”. Still pretty young and very “comic accurate” but most importantly can truly act in those Neil LaBute movies.
Completely agree. I don't think Feige really considers the shows canon and if he and others think Alice Eve or someone else is a good fit for another role, he's going to cast them. If he wants to see Luke Cage on the big screen? He's casting another actor for the role with no mention of the Netflix show

Which is why I hope Peyton Reed doesn't direct it. He has little visual style whatsoever and the Ant-Man films are at best passable. I want an exciting choice like a Travis Knight or something.

Tr4vis Knight

Yes, yes, yes! Kubo and Bumblebee were amazing and I could totally see him beautifully bringing to life the zany Kirby-style to the big screen. His Fantastic Four would be creative and visually fantastical, plus he'd give us a layered story with heart. Exactly what we need

Travis Knight would be great but Marvel will probably go for some Indie director that none of us have really heard of

Travis Knight was rumored for vol 3 at one point maybe it wasn't guardians he met with marvel for but something else...

I don't think anyone, much less Feige, is looking at Alice Eve and saying: No we can't cast her because she was in Iron Fist Season 2.

Have people actually seen Iron Fist Season 2? Lol That said, I'm not quite sold on her as an actress so I guess I don't really have a point here :p

I doubt it. The article that said Gunn was reinstated mentioned Marvel never considered or met with anyone else to direct Vol 3 and I doubt they met with him about Fantastic 4. That could have been a problem, but we know Feige asked Noah Hawley about his Doctor Doom script.

I think she'd be a good fit, but she's not the strongest actress out there, haha. I don't think she'll be considered anyway.

Travis only has only directed two films. Most of his stuff consists of animation and stop motion. He's still very unknown. He has a keen eye for great visual storytelling and bizarre, eccentric imagery. He'd firmly fall into the same category as Gunn

I'm all for Knight, but it seems like Marvel loves their Indie directors of late. Watts, Boden/Fleck, who they hired for Shang-Chi, Black Widow...

Sure, there's exceptions like Coogler and Gunn and maybe they do get someone in that ilk or hire Knight. If they do, I'd be ecstatic.

I'd imagine they'll probably go that route for X-Men. But like Guardians, I could see them wanting F4 to be something... Fantastic. With a specific visual language that can be tailored to the F4. That's kinda what they need right now.

Heck, I wanted Knight on X-Men too but I could see him being a much better fit for Fantastic Four. Imagine Planet X under Knight's visual eye

:tmm: :mag

I just don't understand all the obsession with race. Let's see a cast, and I can comment then if it works or not..
Agreed
I want more minority representation, but not being obsessive about it or making that the main goal, instead of a good story, good character development and good chemistry amongst the cast.
Example, the suggestion about Namor being asian is good. If we get a good asian actor with the charisma and presence to pull of McKenzie, then wonderful. But I don't want to see the backlask we saw with Iron Fist if Marvel does not decide to cast a minority.
Regardless what you think of that actor's ability, the vitriol spewed merely because of the guy's race was not only uncalled for, it was embarrassing. Especially considering the characters background in the comics.

Of course all of you are so angsty about race and all this because, to you all, they did come out of nowhere. They came from marginalized communities that none of us ever thought about and then get angry when they get an opportunity to show what they can do. If Hamilton can change the races of historical people, you should all accept a bunch of fictional characters having their races changed, too.

To whom are you referring?

FWIW, Travis Knight was reportedly one of the candidates to direct the Eternals at least, the veracity of the Vol. 3 rumor aside. I would be inclined to believe that he is someone that Marvel may have their eye on for another project in the future.

I do like the suggestion of him for FF.

I love that we can actually start speculating about directors now. And not worry if someone else is going to swoop in and try and take Fox away from Disney lol.

Marvel's X-Men directed by Duffer Brothers

Marvel's Fantastic Four directed by Travis Knight

That would be awesome. Has a nice ring to it.

Who plans on being on the board tomorrow night when 12:02 a.m. EST/9:02 PST becomes a reality? I will be up...I am soooo excited....picture being friends with me in Louisville, my friends are comic book fans but not to the extent I am, you have debated, theorized, etc to them about how the F4 and possibly the X-Men comes home...you never dreamed that Fox would sell this iconic studio to Disney...it paved the way for our greatest wish involving the MCU to come true. Now, in less than 48 hours, all of this ends and the fun of speculating as to how the MCU will adopt the F4, the X-men and their rogues galleries for future films. begins...

Someone suggested we do a skype chat a while back.

Yea I find it weird when the same people adamant that the X-men should be race-swapped, then turn around and say they want "the definitive adaptation of F4, so they should be white."

Some even said that Jean and Cyclops should remain white. Why are they exempt? Lol

Watched infinity war last night for like the 50th time lol so goooood. Dat cliffhanger gets you every time.

It's really happening. Starting tomorrow. I'll check my account to see if I got New Fox shares

Disney (NYSE:DIS) and Twenty-First Century Fox (FOX, FOXA) have announced the distribution adjustment multiple in connection with their $71B deal for Fox's media assets.

The multiple used to determine the portion of each share of 21CF stock to be exchanged for common stock in New Fox is 1.357190.

About 8 a.m. ET tomorrow, Fox expects to distribute New Fox stock to 21CF shareholders on a pro rata basis.

Due to the distribution multiple, 0.263183 of each share of 21CF stock will be exchanged for a third of a share of New Fox in the same class, with cash in lieu of fractional shares.

The other 0.736817 of each share of 21CF will end up exchanged for what a whole share of 21CF common stock would have been exchanged for before the distribution took effect.

The deal is set to go final at 12:02 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
