If people wanted the F4 to be diverse then they would have been praising Fox for casting MBJ as Johnny Storm....because that worked out so well.

We'll definitely hear about the fates of the remaining Fox Marvel movies that have been shot like Dark Phoenix and New Mutants after the deal closes. New Mutants is much cheaper to make than Dark Phoenix so I imagine that's easy to dump on Hulu but Dark Phoenix...I'm not so sure, especially since they already spent the extra money on reshoots buy hey crazier things have happened.

No that's called hypocrisy.
So if I say I hate oranges while eating an apple, does that make me a hypocrite because they're both fruit? Or is it simply a matter of recognizing that the apple looking, feeling and tasting completely different from the orange produces different standards

Dark Pheonix's fate is clear. New Mutants, Gambit and Kitty Pryde has unknown futures and especially New Mutants as that one is already shot but may not make it to theatres and could simply be sent to a streaming service

Someone suggested we do a skype chat a while back.

I threw the idea out there when a few people suggested a highly improbable in person get together to celebrate Xmen/FF coming home. My thought was a Skype thing was more plausible, but I don't think anyone really took the idea all that seriously.

I'm on the west coast so I will be wide awake at 9:02 pm PDT when the deal is officially supposed to close. I'll send some out some kind of message in here at that time. Most likely something really deep and meaningful like "woot" or "huzzah" :)

Even if the entire pre-production of projects like Gambit has flown completely under the radar, Fox still has under 30 hours to start filming....

I would say Gambit and Kitty Pryde have known fates too. They aren't getting made, period. New Mutants is the one we really don't know what they will do.

I had a feeling Gambit got cancelled but I had recently read that a script for Kitty was still being worked on.

Gambit got canned because Fantastic Four flopping in 2015 started a ripple effect through out Fox. That movie flopping is basically the reason we are where we are now just a day away from Disney owning Fox.

The only one I mourn is New Mutants. They had me since hearing “We don’t need no, education...”

And I still wanna know who the hell was that in the washing machine on fire.

They should have opened new mutants in dark phoenix's original November 2018 release date. I think we would have understood had they moved it back a bit from Infinity War but they moved it back so far to the point no one cares.

I think it's just easier for everyone to come to this board whenever they can throughout the day and celebrate. Everyone is in different time zones. What are people going to say to each other on Skype anyway?

I'm simply calling out people who are easily triggered when others say they want Rogue to remain a stereotypical Mississippian (there's usually a tinge of "Oh, you're against race-bending? What's wrong with you?") but are now outed as against other characters being race-bent ("Fantastic Four should be all white!" "Scott and Jean should be white!").

Like I said I think it's the height of hypocrisy. I even think the reasoning behind it is ridiculous: They want to see the 'definitive' versions of Sue, and Reed, and Johnny, and Ben.

So the X-men are what? Chopped liver?

Logan better still be canadian, Nightcrawler better still be german and Colosus better still be russian!

I wonder if Disney will apply the no smoking rule to wolverine? or maybe they will release the film under the fox banner to get around it?

Smoking a cigar isnt really that important to the character. Its a take it or leave it touch.

Wolverine in the comics hasn't smoked in ages thanks to Joe Quesda initiating the ban on Marvel comics heroes smoking in 2001(even before Marvel was bought by Disney) so its no loss if Wolvie doesn't light up a cigarette. Same deal with Ben Grimm. Smoking are really inessential aspects of both characters anyway so it doesn't matter.

There's other ways to make him badass while comic accurate without having the smoking element. Although, it would be cool to see at least once

I could see Feige doing a similar scene to first class cameo where Charles and Eric go to recruit Logan and hes sitting there in the bar and smoking a cigar. Just as a nice nod to the comics.

We'll say riveting stuff like "So ... how about that merger, pretty sweet huh?" And the consensus response will be "Yup, pretty sweet". Personally ... I can't wait ;)

Bendis is saying that but he probably knows what's going to happen to his script after the acquisition is complete. He's on the "business as usual" mentality that all of the Fox people are on. Publicly, at least.

Especially when one of these individuals has given a crystal-clear, defined reason why it's not the same set of principles being applied to something they argue against -- therefore it is not hypocrisy.

Also, I've never seen anybody "triggered" by the idea of Rogue staying comic accurate.

I bet it won't be. It will be awkward conversation because everyone's trying to introduce themselves. Someone is also going to probably ask the inevitable "so, what do you do for a living?"

The raceswapping discussion is getting nowhere. Marvel is going to have their own criteria for who they want. Some will be fine if Marvel choose actors of a different race and some won't. Either way it's out of hands and not our decision.

It is what it is. There's no point to the discussion and I can see it getting nasty fast.
