It's not quite the same though having Hulk in a Wolverine movie as it is having Wolverine in a Hulk movie. Just doesn't have quite the same momentous feel or significance.

I agree. It would be iconic and a nice homage to us nerds.

I have said a theoretical TIH 2 with Abomination breaking out and introducing Wolverine with Ross finally becoming Red Hulk would do big numbers. They could have another cameo or two and even start introducing She Hulk.

With that said, there's that certain Universal situation to deal with before Feige and friends can even dream about something like this. There's always hope though, especially if Comcast is willing to sell their equity in Hulu and/or Disney is willing to give Comcast/Sky a limited exclusivity window to Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ when they expand to Europe.

But... Colombia isn’t even on the list. What does this mean? That there are countries not listed that need to approve?

I think only Disney knows the exact status of all approvals, and based on their other actions, I think it's safe to say they believe they've got this nearly wrapped up.

Hmm.. I wonder if Hulk will still be around when Wolverine shows up. Regarding She-Hulk, I can't help to think that she may be Introduced to take Hulk's place in the MCU post-Endgame if he doesn't make it out. I wonder if Marvel will start introducing some of the Legacy/alternative characters to fulfill the roles left by Downey, Evans, Rudd, Ruffalo and Renner.

Bucky Cap, Iron Patriot/Osborn, Cassie/Stinger, She-Hulk and Kate Bishop. Additionally -- Jessica Drew, Sentry, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Black Panther and Ares to make up the new status quo of the Avengers in the MCU.

I would prefer them not to do legacy characters and to just emphasize new characters. No Bucky Caps and more Black Panthers.

I was thinking about that as well...
While I'm not sure a Hulk solo movie featuring the Wolverine would work... I can see Black Panther go up against the Wolverine as he prowls around the forest of Wakanda looking for answers about his past. Heck! Maybe having Banner/Hulk make a cameo to help out Shuri and maybe get involved?

I mean there's ways to build up to the X-Men... I'm wondering if that's Feige's play...

But who is going to take those roles? Captain America Is a symbol. When Steve dies, it makes perfect sense for Bucky to pick up the Shield and honor Steve's legacy... They've been teasing it since TFA. Ditto for Shuri becoming the Black Panther. Steve/T'Challa dying shouldn't mean we can never have another Cap or Panther in the MCU again.

Osborn being introduced and becoming the Iron Patriot + OsCorp functionally serving the same role Stark Industries has in the MCU makes sense too.

No one needs to take up these roles literally. You need a new character to fill the void. You can make that Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, etc. If you're talking leadership, Carol likely makes the most sense. But no, you don't need to have another dude wearing a Captain America outfit. Marvel has thousands of characters and plenty of new franchises to come. Explore that depth. I'd like to see characters make their own legacies rather than live in the shadow of another character's legacy forever.

I wonder what happens if audiences prefer the Russo brothers incarnation of Captain Marvel in End Game vs what the Captain Marvel directors give us. It happened with Spider-Man. Many people seem to prefer what the Russo brothers gave us over John Watts.

Another thing I would argue on the Bucky Cap or direct legacy angle is this: whoever replaces Steve Rogers will feel like a down grade. Marvel is not likely to do a Cap 4. In fact, Bucky and Falcon are getting a show. So Captain America, the IP, in replacing him in this way downgrades him from a movie property to a show and possibly appearances in Avengers films. So the character is never going to be treated with the same love and care Steve, Tony, etc got. So what is the point? What are they really getting out of it? Especially when you can put that love and care and grow someone new? It's a better long term strategy. Move forward. Legacy Cap, Iron Man, etc is just living in the past.

Feige said in previous years that they would just James Bond the characters (recast). I assume he has abandoned that idea.

Probably not entirely. For the major guys, yeah probably. But I think he will still replace the small guys if he has to.

I'd say it's likely they're going to integrate the X-Men characters into the MCU. Do for the X-Men what they did for Black Panther and Spider-Man but on the necessary scale that is required. The mutant phenomenon would be seen from different perspectives through different movies. For instance -- by the time Spider-Man 3 comes out, we're on the eve of the first X-Men movie. And we see Midtown High-school complying with the new Federal law - mandatory Trask X-Gene Detectors (technology that is a precursor to the Sentinels) installed on school grounds so the Government can quarantine mutant children. I.e We get a scene where Peter and his friends pass the screening (Much to Peter's relief) and then observe another kid going through the same process and testing positive for the X-Gene thus being ripped away from his family right before their eyes. That would really set the tone for how serious the stakes are.

Yes, absolutely would love to see Wolverine in Black Panther. It's a shame that this deal didn't happen 5 years ago. Many MCU staples won't be around to interact with the new characters.

Same here... plus I'd love to see what Vibranium does on contact with Adamantium.

Spider-Verse taught us that ANYONE can wear the mask. What makes you (insert Cap/Panther), makes you (Insert Cap/Panther). When Wolverine dies, X23 should take his place, Logan illustrated this perfectly by positioning Laura as the next Wolverine. Legacy characters exist for a reason -- these characters are symbols meant to represent an ideal/concept, they don't die with the current proprietor. That's what makes them so powerful and that's why kids from all walks of life see themselves in these characters. I'd argue that it would be a disservice to Steve Rogers' legacy to let the idea of Captain America die with him. Bucky is the perfect successor to carry on the legacy. The Falcon/Bucky show I'm hoping will end with Barnes realizing that he must honor Steve. And coming back to the movies as the new Captain Marvel

Is it just me or has there been a weird silence from Disney since the new year started. Hopefully it means they're working to close the deal asap.

Oh, they definitely do. It’s just weird how (to my knowledge) Colombia was never part of the discussion. It’s completely out of left field. Not that I’m complaining- after all, it is another approval!

Wasn't there a meeting in the 28th?

There is? I haven't heard anyting. The deal is rumored to close on the final week of January. Do you know if this an investors call or something? I know there was a call set for the 5th of February. Unless that got moved up.

No-one is going to want Black Panther substituted for Hulk for Wolverine's debut. Hulk vs Wolverine is too iconic.

And a Hulk movie with Wolverine can work. Hulk can be fighting Wendigo first and Wolverine will be after one of them, or maybe both of them. They can set it in the Canadian rockies, which would be a different setting to any of the MCU films so far. There's really a ton they can do with that story.

Definitely not just you. I suspect they're putting forth their best efforts behind the scenes to reach that final week of January closing estimate.

It happened with BP in CW vs BP in solo movie as well.

I support legacy characters, but if they don't I would be against the idea of recasting Cap or Iron Man once Evans & RDJ decided to retire; I want this cinematic universe to function like Star Wars did, and they have enough characters to last another 20 years anyway. Once this universe finishes its run, Feige or his successor can reboot the entire thing and preserve it as a Saga and give us a new universe, one that starts with both X-Men and Avengers exist together from the beginning. That's what I'd like to see.
