Neither Dark Phoenix nor New Mutants will be released in theaters, book it.

They will be delayed and then sent to streaming.

Right now I would say Dark Phoenix does get released to theaters, New Mutants does not. DP seems much further along and they have still been talking about, promoting it to some small degree, etc. There hasn't been any movement on New Mutants in almost a year now. It just appears to have vanished into the aether.

Best case scenario for Dark Phoenix, New Mutants is a Disney+ release. How much money can they realistically make at this point? At least the fans who want to see them would still get to see them. And Disney would get some money through subscriptions.

Then again its possible that this might be the only footage of New Mutants we ever see.

Man, I love New Mutants. I really want to see Dani, Ilyanna, Beto, Sam, Rahne... all properly done on the big screen, as soon as possible.

Hopefully Marvel won't wait so many years to bring them to the MCU.

with all this drama and delay surrounding the film, Marvel will probably wait quite some time before they ever consider new mutants, if at all. like i'm talking like 10 years or more down the line if this thing is still going strong.

maybe a streaming series on hulu or disneys app.

I think they will wait, but not because of the drama. They just won't have much time for awhile when they are building up the main X-Men team. Obviously that's going to take priority first.

They can get an X-Force movie out in two months or less before the deal goes through. If they commit whole heartedly to it starting tomorrow, it can be Fox's last stand to go out with a bang. :o

This is both sad and exciting because it means stuff must be happening behind the scenes. it looks like Feige is dropping the dead weight.

Are they saying that the merger will be completed in 2 months?

.....I’m afraid it’s very true, my friend. Rob Liefeld pretty much confirmed this guy’s scoop.

I have no doubt X-Force would have done well. But just as with BvS, Leitch took a lot of hype away from the future team up by giving us a preview in the Deadpool sequel and focusing on the team interaction most fans care about.

If nothing else I'm glad that Dr. Doom movie is canceled. I know that won't be a popular opinion given the caliber of film-maker involved, but New Mutants and Dark Pheonix have really made me sick of hearing about the Faux-Marvel movies.

Thank God.

The less producer credits Kinberg gets for all those FOX spinoffs, the better off we all will be. The New Mutants is the only thing I mourn because it looked different, I would have gave it a chance.

Maybe for Disney+ they’ll be nice and use the Kitty Pryde spinoff for a short film.

Where's Simon Kinberg when you need him to tell everyone that these movies are in active development and going full steam ahead?

They gotta give us some kind of clue about Gifted and Legion too.

I doubt Disney will let those shows continue as MCU adjunct shows.

Sarah Paulson is a fantastic actress, and I'd love to see her in the MCU. But as good as she is, I don't think she has the "evil" vibe I want for the MCU Mystique. Speaking of someone the same age as her, I think someone like Lena Headey would be more "appropriate".

I’m not really familiar with Headey (but she certaintly has the look) but Paulson could play that devious, sly side to Mystique very well. Just give her elements we havent seen onscreen before like Destiny, Rogue and Carol Danvers, and she’d totally nail it.

I doubt it even if they wanted to. Think all the work that goes into pre-production, there's no telling if the returning cast from Deadpool 2 are even available. Besides, it's not in their interest to rush into production the first entry in franchise that can' continue.

Disney would not be concerned with those shows at all, because they're also buying the network, they'll get all the profits regardless. The real question is does Marvel want these shows to continue. Marvel Television still gets revenue from the shows so I don't think it's a matter of money. It'll come down to Marvel Studios' creative control of the properties. The likelihood of them wanting these shows is very low. Marvel will most likely wish to start fresh with the X-men and would not want to have to conform to the continuity of a show they had no input with. The best case scenario, these shows get a final season.
