Why is Phil Sheldon in that email (and why is he indented)? Does he somehow relate to Sony? He was invented entirely for the miniseries "Marvels". Why should he have any association with Sony? Surely Marvel must be able to use him?

If Jessica Drew is just used as a PI in some TV series, she's not worthy doing. That would make her too similar to Jessica Jones. She needs to be used as Spider-Woman with her spider powers, or not at all.

Blade isnt exactly known for its deep philosophical nature. He is a black guy in a trenchcoat and shades killing vsmpires.

Neither of the first 2 blade movies had great writing.

That just seems like such a lazy argument. It's a bit odd to argue it's ok to have someone who just turned in sub-par work because you didn't think much of the previous Blade anyway. As if it's fine for it to bad too. Even if I disliked the last Blade I'd still want to see anything new kept to a good, consistent quality.

I had to look him up. Apparently he's a Daily Bugle character? Maybe that's why they had to clarify who owns him.

Either way he's not listed under "SPE gets", which means that he's probably with Marvel.

Put Bryan Singer in jail, please.

The story Esquire was working on last year (about Bryan Singer) has been published at The Atlantic. The details are disturbing, some of these men were 13 or 14 at the time.

Which is exactly why I want it to win just to see the proverbial meltdowns!!
Obviously Black Panther will not win, but if it did, the internet would be choatic. I wonder how crazy the Academy Awards thread would be.

This is why Black Panther being nominated feels a bit like a "kissing your sister" moment to me.

Sure it's nominated, but it has a snowball's chance in hell of winning, so it's a bit of a hollow victory.

Baby steps though, Willie. The Dark Knight got snubbed, which led to changes in Oscar structure. Logan got a Screenplay nomination, the first superhero film to get a major award nomination like that. Black Panther is nominated for Best Picture. It's all moving toward a superhero film having a legitimate chance at winning the award.

... actually I take that back. I just checked out the list of nominees, and I can actually imagine BP pulling it off against that field.

And I haven't seen it yet, but how the heck did Bohemian Rhapsody get a 62% on RT and then get nominated for Best Picture?!

I was actually really looking forward to seeing that, but with the bad reviews, I decided to wait for it to come out on video. And now it gets a best picture nomination?

I'm off to buy it on Vudu...

Maybe Fantastic Four will get the win.:D

I would love this

My fantasy is that they'll find a visionary director who will make a film so spectacular that it will drop people's jaws and make them realize what a Superhero film can be. Something that we can't even imagine now, like when 2001 a Space Odyssey or Star Wars showed up and changed everything.

That's the way the comic books were, and it would be fitting if they could do something similar with the film.

... highly unlikely, but fun to dream.

Exactly. Whatever the outcome, this is a massive step forward for comic book and superhero movies.

And now for something completely different....

One more week (hopefully), guys!

It was the film that turned around the film franchise after the dull, paint-by-numbers first two films. The whole look and structure of the films were massively improved starting with PoA. It isn't my favorite, but I can understand why people think that way because it basically rebuilt everything from the ground up aside from the main actors (minus Dumbledore). The later films had PoA as a model to follow so I don't think they were the achievement PoA was even if I was entertained by a couple of them more.

I disagree with literally every word of this, particularly the whole "turned the franchise around" garbage as if the franchise was somehow in trouble.

Bohemian Rhapsody only got nominated because "iT's QuEeN!!!!".

The movie was panned. Metacritic: 49 / Rotten Tomatoes: 62.

Speaking about Bohemian Rhasody fresh new allegations came out today against Singer. I know this is probably not the thread to talk about such a things since there are threads for such a topic. but does these new revelations about Singer affect your ability to enjoy his movies, most specifically his comic book films?

X-2 & Days Of Future Past are generally agreed to be great by everybody(except me, I think they’re both wildly overrated) but can you guys stomache to watch them again given who’s behind the camera or can you still re-watch them regardless of the validity of the accusations since it’s not like Singer made the movie by himself?

As I said in the Bohemian Rhapsody thread, thousands of people work on a movie. 1 garbage human being doesn't tarnish the efforts of everyone else. It just makes me think that guy shouldn't be getting work.

Singer will always have my respect for kicking off this modern wave of superhero films starting with his first X-Men film. But yes, he should not be getting anymore work. I can appreciate what he did for the genre while at the same time condemning the man’s abhorrent actions.

No, it doesn't affect me. There is a lot of great work done by criminals and scumbags. I care about the product and the results, not what these people did or do in their personal lives.

James Gunn was destroyed really fast. But Brian Synger, an actual pedophile, is still working in Hollywood. He has a pact with the Devil or something .

That’s what’s so baffling about this whole thing. Like Woody Allen, Singer managed to get away with it for so long. I think I first heard the allegations surface around the time Days Of Future Past was being released and Singer strenuously denied it and it was mostly then ignored. More allegations has come out since then even before these new ones and despite that Singer still got to direct Apocalyse and Bohemian Rhapsody despite them. That’s what power can do for you, I guess.

Financially it wasn't because it was Harry Potter, they could have put anything on screen in the early-to-mid 2000s and it would have made money. But creatively PoA was a big step up.

James Gunn wasn't destroyed. He was fired by one company (Disney) and then scooped up really fast by another (WB). Singer hasn't been working for Disney. Different companies, different standards.

Agreed. James Gunn will be fine. I am sure GotG3 will be fine as well, but we'll see how it turns it in regards to quality.

Based on their track record, at worst GOTG3 should be kind of bland and forgettable and not actively awful. For the upside who knows? Just look at The Avengers. I personally would say they got better after Joss Whedon left (we'll include Civil War in this).
