Variety is saying that Disney officially announcing the closure date means that Mexico has already approved the deal. I think most of us had already assumed this to be the case. We might get an official announcement online about that soon.

I have to believe that Disney will go after Spidey next. Him getting pulled out when the F4 are coming in would be tragic.. I hope they can renegotiate for at least 6 more films

I'd have to think something like this would be what happens going forward:

Close Fox acquisition -> Pretty much set for 03/20
Finalize sale of YES -> Amazon, Sinclair, Yankees for 3.5B
Finalize sale of remaining 21 RSNs -> Ice Cube or some others
Finalize sale of European A&E -> Hearst will probably buy it and it'll be an asset swap where Disney gets equity on ESPN for giving up their European equity on A&E to Hearst
Finalize sales of Fox Sports LA/Brazil -> No idea on buyer
Acquire 10% of Hulu from ATT -> Probably by mid year based on rumors. They'll probably acquire the termination of the contract to get Star Wars streaming rights back before 2024 at the same time
Other things such as make a push to get 30% of Hulu and Marvel rights from Comcast, sell Endemol, acquire Spiderman movie rights, Indiana Jones 1-4 distribution rights, etc

I just don't see this happening. I really don't see Sony being able to make successful movies with characters like Morbius who are less popular than Venom. Venom was a popular character who's success was a total fluke at best. I can see the sequel making less than the original.

No need to panic yet. Far From Home will likely make more than Homecoming especially since its coming off a major Avengers film which looks to be really depressing so Far From Home will get a boost just because it will be the first Post-Endgame MCU film and act as a palate cleanser for audiences who will be still mourning the loss of some characters that will surely perish in Endgame. I think Far From Home will likely be the first Spidey film to join the billion dollar club. That alone will motivate Sony to let Spider-Man continue to play in this sandbox a little longer

I'm most interested in Namor. We've seen Spidey and Hulk in the Marvel Universe and hopefully they'll continue to be able to use those characters in some form, but Namor is a key character (not only in defining the Universe, but historically) who has been been completely absent.

I had heard speculation that the reason Namor was more difficult than Hulk is that Fox had a partial claim on him as a Mutant. If that's true, this deal should open up the possibility of seeing Namor used similar to Hulk...

... if it's not that easy, hopefully they can work on getting Namor.

It's like a wonderful dream finally coming true...we have talked about this for YEARS...can't believe its finally done next week...who will be mentioned first? who will be seen first? Doom? Kang? Fantastic 4? Mutant mention? All kinds of fun awaits us...congratulations to all who continued to pray and hope...WE DID IT!!!!!

 So exciting to know that anything can happen from here.:D

I've been holding off on buying FF books and merch until the deal closes. Soon I will have fuller shelves and a lighter wallet :D:

It's coming home!

And not so embarrassing after all:

The FF have to be mentioned first since they're likely to be introduced before the Mutants.

I wonder If Sony would be willing to make that trade. And if so, what happens to all of the spinoffs Sony has in development. My guess is that they'll be cancelled

 Good point. Hopefully it will motivate Sony to renew the deal for at least another 5 films

Who knows what they’ll begin planning from March 20th and beyond that

Very exciting times dudes

What trade?

Endemol-movie franchises for Spidey

Endemol does not have movie franchises. It is a television production and film distributor. Sony was one of the interested parties and they are one of the interested parties in Fox Latin America, I think. It depends on what either party wants, but it's something that can be brought up if they sit down to talk about it.

Its really crazy to realize that its actually happening....
19 years of the X-Men being at Fox, always waiting for certain stuff to happen on the big screen... but never seeing it.

and now....................... now Marvel will get its A-list team back and will do WONDERS with them in the next decade! :waa:

we, x-men fans, arent really ready to for all the awesome stuff we'll see on the big screen. Quite a lot will be really surprised. And I'll be there to say "I told you!" lol
