The good news is the script is done so he can basically go into production right after hes had a break after suicide squad.

^^ Not exactly, Gunn only turned in a draft for Marvel. He’ll have do some more passes at the script in order to get it to be a final draft.

Even though I understand both sides of the controversy, I think I'm ultimately happy to have Gunn back. Especially since it most likely means one of the first, if not the first, appearances of the Fox stable of characters.

Feige said that Gunn turned in a ‘draft’- meaning a version of the script that still needs some revisions before it can be finalized into a shooting script. Gunn was working on refining the script right before his firing.

If they had kept Gunn fired, and gotten a new director then its probable the new director would’ve added his own stamp to Gunn’s script while overall following the structure and tone of the initial draft. They wouldn’t have thrown it away entirely but definitely changes would be made.

A “draft” can mean anything. It doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t a shooting script. There is no “final” scripts when you’re dealing with these big budget movies.

Production was supposed to begin in February so they had to have been close.

Now that the deal is close to being finalized, let me say that these are my casting choices

Matthew McConaughey - Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic
Emily Blunt - Susan Richards/Invisible Woman
Seth Rogan - Ben Grimm/Thing
Sergej Trifunovic - Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom
Bella Thorne - Jean Grey/Phoenix
Hunter Page-Lochard - Lucas Bishop
Oded Fehr - Erik Lensherr/Magneto
Madison Davenport - Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat
Jamie Clayton - Raven Darkholme/Mystique
Stephen Lang - Nathan Summers/Cable
Emile Hirsch - James Logan Howlett/Wolverine
Diego Luna - Julio Richter/Rictor
Pierce Brosnan - Tom Cassady/Black Tom
Lady Gaga - Alison Blaire/Dazzler
John Cena - Cain Marko/Juggernaut
Terry Crews - En Sabah Nur/Juggernaut
Elizabeth Tan - Elizabeth Braddock/Psylocke
Mahershala Ali - Norrin Radd/Silver Surfer
Hugh Grant - Nathaniel Essex/Sinister
Eva Green - Neena Thurman/Domino
George Corpsegrinder Fisher (voice) - Annihilus
Ryan Gosling - Warren Worthington/Archangel
Neil Patrick Harris - Shatterstar
Michael Spears - (Name Classified)/Forge
Viva Bianca - Emma Frost/White Queen
Jean Claude Van Damme - Charlie Cluster/Fantomex
Vasily Stepanov - Arkady Gregorovich Rossovich/Omega Red
Til Schweiger - Christoph Nord/Maverick
Daniel Tosh - Jamie Madrox/Multiple Man
Siorise Ronan - Theresa Cassady/Siryn
Finn Balor - Victor Creed/Sabretooth
Sasha Grey - Seline Galio

And keep Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool

I'm not sure who I want for Cyclops, Beast, Havok, Strong Guy, Polaris, Omega Sentinel, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Rogue, Gambit, Daken, Xavier, Storm, Warpath or Human Torch but I feel like a lot of them should be unknowns since they should search for younger actors to play them. I'm completely in favor of somebody from Nollywood or Wakaliwood playing Storm since she needs to be play be an African and I want an actor from Russia to play Colossus. Warpath last time was played by an Asian-American actor but this time around, I feel like he really needs to be played by a Native American actor. With Xavier, I'm all for changing his race since Xavier's entire worldview and motivations are so grounded in African-American culture that it doesn't really make much sense for him to be white. Rogue and Nightcrawler and Mystique's children so they're required to be young and Gambit is Rogue's love interest so he also needs to be young as well. Same goes doubly for Havok since he's Cyclop's younger brother and Polaris as Havok's love interest. Beast is the other character I'm comfortable with having a race change since his love of two-dollar words is something which black nerds do more than white nerds. Strong Guy just needs to be an Italian-American body builder who can also do comedy. That pretty much requires an unknown. I really want somebody from Bollywood to be Omega Sentinel as well.

As for the New Mutants/Generation X/New X-Men characters, I'd get unknowns to play them since I want them to be really, really young and to introduce them on their own TV spin-off where the first class will be Sunspot, Mirage, Cannonball, Meltdown, Wolfsbane, Karma, Skids, Magik, Warlock, Cypher and Magma. After a season or two, we'll get some underclassmen introduced with Jubilee, Skin, Synch, Husk, M, Chamber, Hollow, Mondo and Gaia. And once that second class' cast is about to grow up and be transferred to the X-Men, X-Force or X-Factor films/shows, I'd do a third class with Dust, Hellion, X-23, Rockslide, Surge, Wind Dancer, Prodigy, Elixer, Ink, Mercury, DJ, Match, Trance Pixie, Shark Girl, Nature Girl, Tempus, Hijack, Goldballs, Whither, Anole, Gentle, Bling, Blindfold, Loa, Icarus and Tag. (A huge part of this cast would naturally die so it can afford to be big.) This show MUST be on Disney+ as doing it in-house is the only way to afford the budget to introduce Warlock and Rockslide on the show. And the New Mutants would team up with the Power Pack, Champions and Ms. Marvel. Maggot won't be part of the second class since NOBODY liked him. This cast is way too young to think about casting anyone since they'll have aged out of the role by the time it comes to casting them.

Gunn's rehiring is suspisciously timed. I half wondered if it was all a pantomime, but I doubt Bautista would have acted as he did were it so.

whats even weirder is supposedly he was quietly reinstated months ago. Could be as far back as December.

Perhaps I misread his statement but the way Feige referred to the script in question as ‘a draft’ instead of outright saying Gunn is done with the script makes it seem like it wasn’t a draft ready to be a shooting script yet as Gunn was in the middle of refining the script in order to make it ready for principal photography right before he was fired.

But whatever, I’m indifferent towards this rehiring so it doesn’t matter to me one or another at this point.

And as for where I'd introduce these characters, I'd introduce Mystique, Rogue, the Brood and the Shi'Ar in a Captain Marvel sequel (maybe use the Shi'Ar in Guardians), Doctor Doom would first appear in Black Panther 2, Forge, Wolverine, Domino, Fantomex and Maverick fit right into something with Captain America or Black Widow or the upcoming Falcon and Winter Soldier series. Psylocke belongs in the rumored Captain Britain film. If the X-Men don't get introduced before the Defenders series migrate networks, then Jean Grey should be brought in as a friend of Misty Knight or Jessica Jones. Magik can first show up on the Scarlet Witch show.

Doctor Doom should definitely not be introduced in another Fantastic Four film. It would be redundant and kind of boring to re-introduce the character through such predictable means. I like the idea of retroactively making Doom a former disciple of the Ancient One gone rogue so I wonder if another solo Strange film can provide for a good introduction to the character(it can even be before the accident that scars him back when he’s known as ‘Victor’). Besides Strange and Doom have history with each other in the comics, has anyone here read Triumph and Torment?

I will say out of all the directors that were rumored to have met with Marvel for Guardians 3 Travis Knight was the most fascinating one. But I'm glad Gunn will get to finish his trilogy.

Travis Knight is one of my top choices to direct Fantastic Four for Marvel Studios.

Definitely don't want Doom as the villain the first F4 movie.
Marvel needs to shake things up and avoid using the character the same way Fox did.

I just hope they don't treat Doom like they did the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. He's been through enough awful adaptions. Why add to the character's cinematic woes?

As Tom MacDonald would say, "Saying you're 'woke' doesn't make you a prophet...." I won't post the rest and derail the thread with more political BS.

Needless to say, comparing Gunn to the people you have is ridiculous.
Won't go into a tirade but I agree wholeheartedly with the original poster and you posting what you did just shows how you can only see one side. But I digress...

Glad to have Gunn back on our side. Now I wonder if he is still in charge of the cosmic side or just doing GoG 3.

Mole-Man, Annihilus-Blastaar, Psycho Man etc. They have a lot of options for a new villain. Marvel will probably want to hold off on him in the first film to something new.

I don't mind Doom being introduced in someone else's movie first. Maybe Panther or Strange 2, to immediately establish his Sorcerery background.

Oh lord. I highly doubt Marvel would do that to the greatest Marvel villain of all time. If anything, we're probably going to get a muh more comic accurate take on Doom

So? I don't see it that simple, but I digress. Please don't let me get in the way of your worldview.

I'd rather Doom only be teased or have a cameo in another films. His introduction should be as a main character in an F4 film, most likely sequel but i'd like that to be more building up to an Avengers film.

I'd actually would really like his origin handle completely in a Disney+ limited series covering his life from poor child in an oppressive country, to arrogant student at a university, to a hermit mastering magic, then finally a conquered who takes over his country.

Really a draft is just a script that hasn't gotten final approval. There are a bunch of back and forth focus mostly on runtime, budget, set pieces, etc. as well as just general notes, ideas, and editing. Just means the foundations are set.
