Fantastic Four: Simon Kinberg wants same cast for “brighter” sequel

What part of "F*** off and die" do Kinberg and Fox not get?:cmad:

Forbes' Scott Mendelson did an article on this kind of thing.

But the movie business is not the TV business. And there is promotional value in constantly talking up unlikely future plans of a theoretical geek-friendly picture while promoting an actual picture, because we thrive more on news/discussion of upcoming movies more than on coverage of present tense films.

Interesting point. If he says: "Go see Age of Apocalypse, it's good." Yawn. Nobody's going to read it.

If he says we're going to be making another FF film, they'll be swarmed with hate and people will share it and pass it around.

If it's true that there's no such thing as bad publicity, they're getting plenty of publicity with things like this.

Almost as much as the X-Men, Mr. Kinberg? Now you've got my attention!

I don't know whether Kinberg's quest to make another FOX FF film is more annoying or pathetic at this point. Probably a little bit of both.

Kinberg might want it, but I'd think even that brazen hack will have a hard time persuading Fox's bean counters it's worthwhile. As for the cast would any of them want to come back? Seriously?

If I were one of them I'd tell my agent to answer that particular call with an f-off so ear shatteringly loud Black Bolt would be proud of it.

As an FF fan I'd love to throw one at Hackberg he'd never recover from.

It is pathetic, but for me it's more annoying...but simple Simon has been p#ssing me off since X3.

Lol @Kinberg. I hope Fox is not more stupid than him and lose further money. As far as batting average goes,Singer has a good one not Fox,although Apocalypse sounds totally mediocre.

Though those idiot comments actually make me less optimistic about the rights revertion.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. This Kinberg guy is an utter talentless hack. I'd have to imagine the only way Deadpool suceeded was because this ass clown wasn't involved.

He actually says "I think we have a pretty good batting average" in reference to his company's Marvel film quality ratio. Did he miss:
Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Fant4stic, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and now X-Men: Apocalypse? I mean did he leave those 9, let me repeat 9, poorly rated films?

F*** this guy. F*** Fox. If this doesn't make you want to copy my signature then I don't know what will!

Oh, sure. Let's ruin the brand further, bleed the studio resources again to where you'll piss off old man Murdoch again.

Simon, just shut the **** up and fade off like Avi Arad.

Marvel....fight for X-Men and FF to bring em home. I don't care how messy it will get but I will stand by you no matter what cause your babies need you. Deadpool is the last and only Superhero film produced by Fox I will watch but other than that, I'm all Marvel and Disney. I'd pay to see Thanos feck up the X-Menverse and then you can have your time travel where the X-Men wake up back home with Marvel. Like everything Fox made was nothing more but a dream...

Love the Cap gif btw...lol's.

This guy cannot be serious. Maybe he's just trying to promote it since it's going to premiere on HBO this weekend. (or did it already premiere? I saw a commercial for it a week or two ago)

Either way, I find it hard to believe he's this stupid to think they can make another one with the same cast thinking they can lighten the mood and people will accept it.

Go home Kinberg, you're drunk

Is it just me or does Kinberg kinda suck?

Just scrap the XMEN and reboot them in the MCU with Tom Hardy as Wolverine

F4 obviously needs to come home As well

He's absolutely terrible. Everything he said throughout production was completely wrong. He's a terrible writer and likely was responsible for 75% of the awful film.

There's nothing to build on with that film. They screwed everything up in every imaginable way. All the characters were wrong, the production design was wrong the cast (while talented) were completely wrong for the roles they were playing.

It was dull and pointless and painful to watch and there was nothing in the film that even remotely resembled the Fantastic Four.

That's not a film that can be 'fixed'. It needs to be burnt . . . and the ashes fed to cockroaches . . . and those cockroaches burnt . . . and their ashes put into a capsule and labeled with hazardous material and warning stickers all over it and that capsule needs to be dropped to the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

Wait a second did he actually mean the movie they screwed over because they're wasn't willing to let Josh Trank finish it first or are they going to ask Chris Evans to come back to play the Human Torch because I thought that was the best Fantastic Four they've ever done provided you overlooked them messing up Galactus?

I mean I actually liked the cast for that version of FF but I've never been remotely interested in watching the latest version as it sounded like they should have let him finish his version first before cr**ping all over it but maybe that's just me?!

Ok, now would be the time Marvel just buys the rights back. Tell them they're not making another movie

“We didn't make a good movie, and the world voted, and I think they probably voted correctly," said Kinberg
Finally admitted Failtastic Four was s***.

You blew your chance mate. Jog on.

"But I think we made many mistakes when we made that movie - mistakes that we learned from and we wouldn't repeat.”

Meanwhile X-men: Apocalypse is struggling on Rotten Tomatoes to graduate from "Bad" to "Mediocre". This guy......is not my kind of guy.

You know, I've tried to move on from this and just accept that the FF of my youth are gone but damn this news really makes me angry. Kinberg is such a talentless hack. I can't stand him. I can't even watch interviews with his stupid face. How many times are Fox going to flog this dead corpse of a franchise? Why are they doing this to us FF fans? What is wrong with them??? This is exactly why I haven't paid to watch a single film by Fox over the past 12 months. And that is not about to change. X-Men Apocalypse can suck it.

Comment of the day.

I read the comic and I loved it as a kid, but I just didn’t see how to make a movie of it. How to make it feel modern and relevant.

The thing that really poked me is what he said he wanted to do: a superhero movie where there are never superheroes;

Instead of doing what most superhero movies do, which is immediately make that wish fulfillment and fun, he wanted to actually treat it more like David Cronenberg body horror and deal with the drama that that would create. To me that just felt so fresh and so startling as an idea that it sort of informed everything else that came after

And so the movie in many ways a coming of age story and that's something you couldn’t do if it was a 30-35 year old man;

And Josh saw that. Mike was the first person that we cast. In fact, he never auditioned.

The classic depiction and imagining of Ben, even before he's transformed into the Thing, is a muscular, sort of more jockey big guy. And Jamie is a little guy. That’s part of what we actually liked about him was that the transformation into this monstrous creature is even more radical because he went from someone who is slightly more unassuming who is suddenly the largest creature in the world, essentially.

We wanted a Sue Storm that would feel, first of all, legitimately intelligent, and she would be as smart as Reed

To create a villain named Doctor Doom and have him fit the tone of the rest of the movie is very challenging.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Simon Kinberg!

Clueless hack.

More from Simple Simon:

Kinberg is hopeful that Four becomes a new franchise. “I am proud of it,” he says. “It’s not a disaster. It’s a good movie. I find Fantastic Four a hard book to adapt. I think the tone is very tricky it. It’s deceptively simple. Figuring out the comedy and the drama and the powers themselves are hard to fit into a tone that is as grounded as we wanted to make it. But I’m happy with the way that it turned out. I really love this cast, and I want to keep making movies with them.”

How the hell Fox have not sussed this bell end out by now is beyond me.

I think we can put the Marvel already having the rights back rumor to rest now
