The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 4

Too similar to Hydra having been hiding behind the scenes until Winter Soldier(imo).
Yeah, but still, maybe the skrull are just infiltrated, not pulling strings, or doing very little. What if Rhodey is a skrull? He doesn't do anything pivotal, but it would fuel some big time paraoia. Or maybe Selvig, who had quite a role in 2 movies, maybe he was onto something bigger...

They should rename the sequel to Fartastic 2 - Let's see how much $$$ we can fart out that will make the sequel more craptastic like the 1st.

From behind the scenes at Fox:

SK: I have a brilliant idea for the Fantastic Four IP!

Fox Exec: What's that?

SK: We can set in in the 1920s! You know Al Jolson, The Jitterbug, and Al Capone?

FE: That's brilliant because then the sequel could be set in...

(In Unison): The 1930s!

Imagine the possibilities of having the skrulls infiltrating the MCU from day 1. Everyone we have seen from Iron Man 1 could be a skrull

It was just an Easter Egg, but there's actually a chalkboard with Skrull alphabet back in AoS season 1.

I think what really bugs me is Kinberg's lack of shame and remorse. George Clooney is constantly apologizing for Batman and Robin (even though it wasn't his fault and even though that film was treated better by critics and fans than FF).

Throughout production, we TOLD kinberg what we wanted, but he just ignored us and arrogantly charged forward with a terrible vision.

And now that the results have clearly shown that we were right and he was wrong, he doesn't even seem the slightest bit contrite. He just wants to keep forcing his bad ideas on us and he doesn't seem to have even adjusted his attitude in the slightest.

Unless it's from, or in association with, Marvel Studios, any FF film is in the far future. FF, or anyone else, is not gonna touch this for a long while.

For Fox to keep the rights, they will HAVE to touch it within 6 years. I don't consider that a long while.

. . . certainly not long enough for me to forget how pissed I am with them and how hard I'll fight against another effort from these bozos.

Considering that Fox have a full schedule for next year's releases and Jordan will be too busy with Black Panther to film next year, the soonest we'd be able to get a sequel is in 2019 and by then it'll be too late for people to care but too early to forgive the cast.

Best case scenario is to reboot in 2020 or later with a new cast who actually resemble their comic counterparts while working out a deal with Marvel to put it in the MCU or just sell the rights back altogether and let the FF rest just like Ghost Rider.

X-Men
The Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants
Deadpool
X-Force
Fantastic Four
Dr. Doom
Galactus
Silver Surfer
Kang
Venom
Super Skrull

Whose left for Marvel to get rights back to?

Whose left for Marvel to get rights back to?

All the supporting characters and villains associated with those properties:
Brood, Badoon, Shiar, Viper/Madame Hydra, Annihilus, etc.

Three characters that Marvel has reacquired the rights back to since the beginning of the MCU and brought to the big screen:

Spider-man
Daredevil
Punisher

Three of Marvel's best adaptions of any character thus far:

Spider-man
Daredevil
Punisher

I'm aware that at this point we are all on the same page, but I never doubted beforehand that Marvel was the best at adapting their own characters and this past year or so has proven that without a shadow of a doubt*. Here's to hoping the first family will be the next to come back home.

(*Fox has done a good job with some of their X-men movies, no need to remind me)

I'd add the Hulk, though they won't do a solo with him while the Universal distribution deal is still on. My only beef with him is they are still stuck with the TV show mentality of making him virtually mute. With the big green In action though they've done a great job.

Daredevil still blows my mind, that they could make a gritty blind Batman such a compelling crime drama.

I actually think Spider-Man is a lot tougher than FF. We've already seen some pretty good Spider-Man films that have given us visuals and elements right out of the comics. We've never seen all the pieces really put together in one film (I'd say ASM was probably closest, but that still had some glaring flaws), but we've seen most of the components in on film or another.

So Marvel and Sony have a pretty high bar with Spider-Man. They need to get all the elements right but still make if feel fresh compared to the previous films that were at least close. They did a great job in Civil War, but can they do it for an entire film? I'm looking forward to it, and I have faith, but we have yet to see the final product.

I think the FF is a lot easier than SM because no films have even come close. And that last one wasn't only completely wrong in every way, but nobody saw it. So I see rehabilitating FF as a much easier task than doing the relatively little bit needed to improve on the previous Spider-man films... while still making it feel fresh.

Just having an FF film that was as close as Raimi's first Spider-Man would be cool and completely different than anything we've seen so far.

FFINO not only came close but redefined it as a new classic. :argh:

It bugs me how much of an impediment Universal is. Whether with Hulk, Namor, or even just the theme park rights (east of the Mississippi). What I would give to look up while at Disney's Hollywood Studios and see a scaled replica of Avengers Tower/Four Freedoms Plaza/etc. :hmr:

I understand the business side of why they are hanging on, but the fan in me is annoyed by it.

Regarding the theme park thing, I prefer Universal to Disney so I have no issues with that one.

If Marvel and Universal can ever work out a deal, they need to do something with Joe Fixit, The Professor, The Green Scar and Doc Green. We've only ever seen Bruce and Hulk in the films. It's time to actually give us a new persona who can both smash and talk at the same time.

I'd be happy with a fleshed out Hulk smash persona, at least he talks more than a line or 2. So far I think his word count on film (all of them) is about 10?

Hulk 03: "Puny human"
TIH: "leave me alone", "Hulk smash", "Betty"
Avengers" "Puny God".
Avengers AOU: None.

The last being a real disappointment given the set up for some evolution in Avengers.

Hopefully in Thor: Raganarok they will do better (Green Scar perhaps), but following that bloody TV model has been a continual annoyance for me.

Yeah, I think Raganarok will be a different dynamic so hopefully they'll do something interesting.

They really haven't treated The Hulk like a character. They spend too much time on Banner and not enough on Hulk (which could be partly because of the expense of rendering the Hulk).

He's got a lot of great elements that have never been touched on or explored. We just see him on an extremely superficial level.

I personally don't want Hulk to have that much dialog, I prefer him being more silent and emotive. Wouldn't mind a few more lines here or there though.

With the rumors that Thor and Hulk may be squaring off in a "Planet Hulk" style gladiatorial arena in "Thor:Ragnarok", there is a great opportunity for the more intelligent version to shine through. After landing a few blows, the savage green-skinned behemoth grabs Thor close and in the clinch says "Let's make this look good, Goldilocks!"

Guys, what happens to this thread once Marvel works out deals with Universal and Fox for Hulk, Namor, FF and X-Men?
