The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 5

Ooops, looks like I spoke too soon. July 14-16, so we have less than a year. :woo: :funny:

But if it is a shared deal (which I think is likely - at least in name and giving Fox producer credit) I have a feeling Marvel won't be announcing it at an event.

I think Fox will want to be involved and won't want it to be all about Marvel.

Out of curiosity, I just looked up the Spidey announcement. Looks like it came on February 9th. Nothing special, no shows or anything (as far as I know).

Just a press release saying: "Here's what's going to happen."

http://marvel.com/news/movies/24062..._studios_into_the_amazing_world_of_spider-man

So we could get something like that at any time.
Yeap, that was what I was thinking the other day. It was something that we all woke up to, the only warning was the rumors of the Spidey-meeting and some stuff from the Sony leaked emails

True, here we are thinking it will be at a scheduled event, but they could do what they did with Spidey, or when they announced phase 3.
They certainly didn't talk about everything they're working on.
Like Kevin said: “hate to say anything definite, because you end up like we did with Doctor Strange where you’re talking about the same character for 10 years before a movie actually comes out. But I’ve definitely got some more people in my pocket"

It's a little hard to believe it's only been a year and a half since we heard about Spider-Man. We've already seen him in Civil War and now we'll be seeing him in his own film less than a year from now.

Their most opportune moment to join the MCU comes with Infinity War. I'd say earliest would be 2017 if they tie in at IFW 1. With Thor Ragnarok as the most important per Fiege's previous quotes, I'm thinking though IFW may start in space and move toward Earth so they would more likely show with a brief nod in IFW 2 so I wouldn't expect to hear anything until a year before IFW 2 (2018).

They could play a pretty huge role in Phase 4 though both on Earth and their space research.

I think I like not hearing anything at this time. Marvel Studios rightly supporting their confirmed upcoming film slate in San Diego definitely the right way to go.

If they had come out and announced the acquisition of FF film rights, it would have overshadowed the other films -- including the introduction of the expanded Black Panther cast and confirmation of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.

I would like to think that things ARE in the works for the FF becoming available in the MCU -- but I'm not sure that I care to find out ahead of time. I think I would prefer a surprise guest appearance in one of the upcoming films in the post-credit teasers. I mean, the big reveal of Thanos at the end of the first Avengers movie was perfect and no one knew it was coming.

Even if common sense (my favorite oxymoron because it's anything but common) didn't dictate that there would be no sequel because of the fiasco that was FFINO, it's hard to imagine Michael B Jordan showing up in Black Panther as Killmonger and then as Johnny Storm in FFINO2. Trying to get FF right yet again by Fox, would also seem to be pretty much stupid as their credibility is pretty much shot when it comes to making a well received FF movie. Even "IF" the movie was good, it would suffer because of the past efforts. (I actually liked the first FF movie with Chris in it)

I also think that the lack of comments/complaints lately, about the characters Marvel can't use, is a pretty good sign.

Hmm...........I'm not certain what you mean by this.
Lack of comments about characters being unavailable could indicate that they might be available, but they just don't want to use them yet (comments bring them into the spotlight, raise awareness for something intended to be under wraps for now)

In (late) 2014 when the lineup through 2019 was announced we were approaching the end of a Phase (with just Age of Ultron and Ant-Man left in Phase 2). In 2016 - we've just barely started Phase 3.

I think I said it before, but I hope they do the same thing they did with the Phase 3 announcement event: Wait until we're nearing the end of Phase 3 (let the films within Phase 3 get the attention they deserve) and then - with maybe 1 or 2 (maybe 3) movies left to be released in Phase 3 *then* give us the Phase 4 film slate (so don't announce more films until 2019 - maybe late 2018 at the earliest)

Just my personal opinion, though.

Agreed, generally.

They'll probably have to announce one or two films earlier than that though, just out of practicality. Like if they're planning a film for late 2019, they'll need a director & writers by the end of 2017, and it's unlikely they could hire people and not tell anyone what it's for. And a film slated for May 2020 would need a team in place by May-ish 2018, etc, etc,.

But yeah, I'd like if they hold off on Phase 4 announcements as long as possible, there's plenty to keep us going with Phase 3.

I believe an MCU FF film at the earliest would happen by 2020. And would probably serve as an ensemble film. It would have to be an epic event film. But they would be introduced in a prior film to set them up similar to the way Spidey was. Something to make a huge splash.

This is how I see it going down. They aren't the focal point in the immediate future like Spidey was so there is literally no need for marvel to make some grandioso announcement that they have them back. They have more than enough character old and new to occupy their time all the way to 2019.

Time to let it go Lumpkin.

I find it interesting because in 2014, we knew the schedule through 2019.

Now it's 2016 and we don't even know the complete 2019 line-up. Marvel must have some idea. They're not going to just slap something together at the last minute.

It may just be that they want to see box-office numbers before they decide what sequels to do, but I hope they're planning something more interesting than that. I'm, frankly, a little bored with the current line-up and hope they will be injecting something new into the mix.

So not knowing makes me curious and curiosity makes me interested. That's all.

Except we didn't. In 2014, Ant-Man and The Wasp and Spider-Man Homecoming were not part of that lineup.

FYI Screen Geek deleted its phony news story on the Fantastic Four news.

I'll let it go the moment we have an official announcement.

I have neither the ability nor interest to let it go before then.

It's not like I started hoping for a good FF film last week. I've been hoping for one since the early seventies, and I'm not going to stop now just because Fox management is comprised of sons of b****es who currently have a strangle-hold on the FF rights.

Officially the deal was denied. I'm not saying it's never going to change, it's just not happening for right now. Time to move on.

You have created many scenarios that I'm sure many of us would like to see but they are still just speculation.

I'm not saying you should stop hoping for that. Please, by all means continue to do that. But I think what you have to move on from is this idea that a deal is pending and just around the corner. Now is the "don't hold your breath" phrase, otherwise you will constantly be disappointed.

The movies that get released in 2020 will likely be based on the success of the new solo films released over the next couple years or so.

SOMETHING will happen in the next five years. Either Fox will announce a new film or Marvel will get the rights or they'll announce a joint deal.

After waiting for 45 years, five years is nothing to me. So from my perspective, something is imminent.

And I'm not the slightest bit disappointed. For the past several months I've been consistently saying:

1. We probably won't get an announcement at Comic-con, but it's possible.
2. We'll either get an announcement or we'll be able to cross a year off Fox's window, so either way, it will be good.

Every day that Fox doesn't announce a new film is a good day. The day Marvel announces they have the rights will be a GREAT day.

And I'll continue posting here (even if I'm all by myself) until Marvel gets the rights.

And even if Fox starts production on a new film, I'll continue posting and hoping until Marvel gets the rights or I die - whichever comes first . . . and I'm not under the illusion that it's not possible I'll die before Marvel gets the rights.

This thread isn't called "Keep Hope Alive" for nothing :yay:

It will happen some day.

Heck, this thread started three and a half years ago when Fox was announcing details of their production and there was far less reason for hope than now. And that 3.5 years hasn't seemed like a long time.

Another five years is nothing. Something's going to happen in the next five years. And if nothing happens, we win.

I've never felt better about our situation than I do now. And tomorrow I'll feel incrementally better and incrementally better the next day and the next day . . . until the day someone finally makes a real FF movie.:yay:

I still believe something has happened. Does it warrant a major announcement at this particular time? Probably not.........and they probably can't.

I look forward to a surprise appearance within the MCU in one of these films of anyone from the FF property within the next 4 years. Hell......I would even take Willie Lumpkin. :yay:

That would prove to us all Marvel has access to either all or certain characters.

Something has happened, or something will happen in the coming years and I'm just waiting to see what the details will be.

Heck, even if Fox comes out and publicly announces a reboot, there will be some entertainment and sick, perverse pleasure in watching the internet melt. :cwink:

. . . and imagine if they slipped Willie Lumpkin into Dr. Strange. 99.9% of viewers wouldn't think anything of it, but people on this thread would know something was going on.:woot:
