The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 6

Good question. I know they're both immense fans of the source material, but I might be more inclined to say Miller was more responsible for its success. Just a hunch, though.

No, I'm celebrating Fox's setback. I'm celebrating the fact that this gives me a sliver more of hope, however small, that the rights can revert back to Marvel (I know that the Deadpool and X-Men rights are largely separate, but keep in mind Fox is counting on Deadpool to move the franchise forward, so....). Context, my friend! :yay:

And to be fair Fox was already doing that on their own before RR took initiative.

First DP's director jumps ship on the sequel now there's word that AT&T has acquired Time Warner for $5B more than what Murdoch last offered.

That's gotta heart....

Can I call it Karma? Yeah, I'm gonna call it Karma.

TBH the X-Men franchise is kinda dead. There aren't much to go on anymore.

Deadpool is the only thing keeping alive and I can already feel that DP2 might suck, thus hammering the nail into the coffin.

Logan kinda looks like crap anyways. Nothing interesting ever happens in those Wolverine movies.

If the X-MEN do show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe I hope it's not through some dimensional hoping all that needs to happen is have Avengers references in Legion, and Deadpool. Have the reason they are studying mutants because of the incident, and have the incident be the revealed when a deal is made to be the chitari invasion, and have Deadpool reference the Avengers building. Have the X-MEN and mutants have always been in the MCU just that the X-MEN have been street level, and possibly fighting in Genosha, with most of the mutants also in Genosha or on the Savage Lands.

The MCU and the xmen universe will have to be rebooted for them to fit in properly IMO. The xmen can't be lazily shoehorned into the MCU like Spiderman was in Civil War.Unlike Spidey and FF, those mutants come with baggage.

They could easily find some hand wavy ways to make it work.

Of course they could find a way, with a reboot or changing the origins of mutants then yeah.

Reboot X-men to fit in with the MCU?

Certainly!

Reboot the whole MCU to accommodate the X-men? For what?!

GOTG, Inhuman, Dr. Strange and Spider-man have already proved you can expand the MCU infinitely. Those who make adding X-men or F4 to the MCU seem complicated just don't want them to revert in the first place.

I have no such setbacks. I'm confident that adding anything "Marvel" into the MCU would be be fine at this point.

Wait, members of the superherohype forums aren't all bastions of objectivity? :o

That's not entirely true if the Inhumans on Agents of SHIELD prove anything, you can have an entire race of powered people, without having to reboot the franchise. The X-MEN or mutants don't really carry that much baggage, and can be put in the MCU without having to reboot both franchises.

Mutants could be on Genosha or at least most of them will be, the world will see the mutants in New York as Enhanced or Inhumans, until Magneto unveils them to be mutants. Think of it like X-MEN DOFP, Mutants were not revealed to the world until something big happened that involved the mutant race, just like the Inhumans, they existed, but SHIELD didn't even know who they were because nothing happened that pointed them in that direction.

Its good news. Their comic sales have been flagging. I guess its up to those mutants to rectify that, like they did in the 90s. All those unsold Inhumans comics on store shelves may also have something to do with this.

Could be. But unlike the 90s, comic sales make up an insignificant piece of the company's annual revenue. Pushing a franchise like the X-Men is an odd turn of events after Disney has spend seven years refusing to invest in its mutants. New TV shows, comics and merchandise could mean nothing or greater cooperation between the two studios. Which may make sense in light of the fact they are now looking at a powerful new competitor in the form of AT&T.

Yeah, to be honest the majority of people who buy comics consistently today are middle-aged white men. It's getting to the point where the purpose of the comics - in the big picture - is to serve as a mining ground for the true money making ventures like the films, animated properties, toys and video games, etc.

Now digital comic sales are another thing.

The X-Men used to be the Kingpins of the comic world, maybe they will be again, but that's a different planet then movies, animation, video games etc. Spider-Man has always been the king across all platforms, but now it seems the Avengers-related stuff is becoming huge as well. Everywhere I go I see as much Avengers related merch as Spider-Man merch, so it obviously doesn't translate to comics where I'd say the mutants are still bigger then the Avengers, although the gap has closed for a number of reasons.

Here is the big problem, since the 1980s, the X-Men have felt like a seperate universe then the rest of the MU.

I also don't understand how people love say the Thing, a giant rock monster, but want kill say Kitty Pyrde.

Prejudice against mutants makes way more sense if they are only super powered people around, IMO.

This.

Maybe they will ignore the prejudice stuff and give them their own Avengers tower or Baxter building and they will be like celebrities with adoring fans. You know, the usual xmen stuff.

Of course they would, they've ruined every character so far. They clearly don't know their own characters. :sarcasm:

This argument has been shot down since the Inhumans joined the MCU.

People know who the Thing is and know of his origins
People are afraid mutants will replace the humans, they are afraid of Magneto, they are afraid of evolutionary change, mutates were once humans, so they understand what it is like to be powerless, they were not destined to gain powers, mutants on the other hand do not well at least in the public eye.

I don't believe that Legion is part of the MCU.

^Biased...

Not biased, just really disappointed.

Fox managed to rape every X-Men and FF character there is to rape.

As a huge X-Men fan ever since the 90s, I just hope Fox reboot the X-Men and FF and work with Marvel via a shared deal like Spidey.

Establish X-Men in Genosha perhaps, just like Wakanda or Atlantis where no one knows what is going on in the country.
