The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 6

Whether Wasp's appearance in Ant-Man was an Easter egg or not, it wouldn't have made any difference if she were left on. No-one would've thought she was in Ant-Man necessarily. They would've just seen her as part of the original Secret Wars artwork where she was on in the first place and no-one would've thought anything of it.

Why was She-Hulk left on?

And the Inhumans had been shelved temporarily until recently (this month). I doubt that T-shirt is so up to date from the last few days after the Inhumans series announcement.

Michael Shannon on refusing to do a Marvel/Star Wars movie:

"No, I’m not really looking for that. They called me recently about some iteration – I won’t say – but some version of a movie that’s been made already countless times," he revealed. "They were gonna give me a lot of of money, but I was like nah. Big movie, too. But I have to think it’s an interesting story. If I don’t, I can’t do it. I won’t do it."

I think it was Doctor Doom lol

Michael Shannon would've been good as Maximus the Mad in the Inhumans.

Who can say really? The cut/paste artist was probably given a list of characters to add and those they could drop, so they cobbled together some character poses from the comics and fit them into a useable image.

So yeah, you could argue that there was bias against female characters for that one shirt image.

That image WAS from months ago, so the inclusion of an Inhuman was probably direct result of the announcement of a future Inhumans movie, but there really were no details about it at the time the shirt graphic was designed/approved.

That's certainly an interesting statement. What movie has already been made "countless times"?

I'd have a hard time guessing what Marvel movie that would be - unless he means the idea/concept has been done countless times and not the specific character.

Might well have been Spider-Man. There's been 5 movies so far with him. Osborn/Goblin done a few times in one form or another.

Bearing in mind Superman had 5 movies prior to MOS, with Zod already being done, it does some an odd comment to make, unless he feels like he's done with trying any more do-overs.

Remember how people wanted this version of the FF to crossover with the X-men? Good times.

I can only imagine. You can't find any of those types in the CBM Facebook Groups who'll admit they were for it these days.

Now they're just clinging to Deadpool's success trying to avoid grim death as if that box office win didn't come with an asterisk attached.

I thought that too at first, but I highly doubt it. I'd bet a lot of money that Marvel wouldn't offer a high profile role to Shannon only two years after he had one in MoS. That would be unimaginative and lazy. It was likely Star Wars.

Yeah, I could see him playing a decent Governor Tarkin or one of those other Empire guys in charge of a huge ship. But I don't think they'll make Reid and Victor that old if/when they do get them back and put the to use in the MCU.

Something I found interesting in an article that details the rise of the MCU:

Arad and Feige spent much of their time trying to persuade executives making Marvel movies at Fox, Sony, and New Line not to screw them up by deviating from the original source material. They cut up comics and created guidebooks to get their point across. “I was like a preacher,” Arad says. “I would go in and say to these people, ‘Look at the comics. You can cut the panels, put them together, and you have a beautiful storyboard.’ ”
They were pleased with director Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies for Sony Pictures. The films did wonders for sales of Marvel toys. Arad and Feige were less happy with other films.

The bolded is in no doubt reference to Fox's numerous pathetic movies, maybe even including the X-men given the context of this article.

You can really see this on Spider-Man and the Marvel characters.

It's not just that the costumes and production design are very close to what we had in the comics, but the way the actors stand and move

It's not that difficult. It's not a secret that needs to be decoded and deciphered. The images are right there in the comic books. That's what these films are based on. That's what they should look like. That's what people want to see.

... and then we get this: :wall:

This looks more classic than anything done by Marvel Studios. It is the utter epitome of classic Fantastic Four covers. In fact, even more classic than the covers themselves. They should replace Fantastic Four #1 with this pose and with those costumes and looks. :o

That effin Thing didnt even sound like Thing. At least Micheal Chiklis version talked like Thing would talk. This dude was just sad and depressing.

HELP ME REED! HELPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

This Thing was complete pants, which is more than can be said for his attire. :o

I can't see the last pic, but I'm guessing that's probably a good thing...

Its from the scene at the end of FFINO, when they walk up to take a look at their new lab. Pantless Thing walking like a PS one animation....straps and coils dude... Speaker grill man... Bad wig woman...

lol

love the descriptions
but yeah, don't need to see that garbage

Partnering with FOX is an impossibility because both the rights to the FF and the X-Men have clearly reverted to Marvel. Woo Hoo! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Not that Marvel Studios or the MCU a. needs the X-Men and Fantastic Four or b. there's a large number of people clamoring for them to be in the MCU. Well, less so X-Men and more Fantastic Four, I suppose, since they haven't been done well outside of The Incredibles.

LOL

Well, joking or not, this is something to keep in mind.
Feige is a smart guy. He listens to questions carefully and is even more careful about the wording of his answers. It may well be that the impossibility part was referring to the section of the question about doing with FOX what they did with Sony, not so much about being able to make MCU movies with those characters.

Agreed. "Impossibility at this juncture" tells us a whole lot of nothing.

He might even only mean at this juncture today, but not necessarily tomorrow.
