The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 6

Lukewarm reception to Apocalypse, yes. But that wasn't the case with Deadpool and doesn't appear to be the case with people's reactions to the Logan teaser, more so with it being Jackman's last performance.

Meh, they loved 4stic's initial teaser as well and since the last 2 Wolverine films weren't that great (just like the first 2 FF films weren't either), I wouldn't put too much stock in that.

Oh and Fox doesn't get credit for Deadpool. If it was up to them it would still be in development heck collecting dust. Tim Miller and RR get credit where credit is due but even that franchise has run into some problems apparently. So don't confuse a one off success with Fox actually turning a new leaf unless Channing Tatum has some epic Gambit footage that's about mysteriously hit the net. If not then Fox has some ongoing issues.

Correct. Fox got really, really lucky with Deadpool. A small part of me wishes the footage never leaked so their Marvel slate would be that much weaker.

How do they not get credit? They produced the test footage.. They produced the film regardless of how you feel about the circumstances of how they did get around to doing it it did happen. That's like taking the Ant-Man film being successful away from Marvel as they were dragging their feet for years making that.

Sometimesthis thread is petty and ridiculous. :whatever:

It's still weak. DP2 lost its director. X-Men franchise is going downhill. Gambit is already more dead than most zombies in Walking Dead. The only shining light is Logan. Which doesn't look like a Wolverine movie. It's a movie that does not look as if it can match the box office success of a MCU movie. Legion looks like crap anyways.

As a X-Men fan, I'm happy with all these misfiring from Fox. Gives me hope that FF and X-Men have a shot coming back to Marvel.

Have you not watched the FX Fargo? Noah Hawley, guy who wrote that, is involved with Legion, and given Fargo's critical acclaim, it's a given that Legion will hold up as well, effects or not since, hey, when have special effects made the show? Stuff like Legends of Tomorrow and SHIELD can look pretty crap at times, but their appeal isn't through their effects- it's the story.

Do we really have to go over this again? I'm not going to give Fox credit for something they were essentially forced to do and never believed in. Giving Deadpool a shoe-string budget that they cut even further right before filming all but seals the deal. All of the credit should go to Miller, Reynolds, and their crew, not the incompetent executives at Fox.

Marvel made Ant-man when no one was asking for an Ant-man movie. Fox only made Deadpool when the internet was screaming in hysterics for a Deadpool movie. This analogy doesn't hold up.

Agreed on all counts, even though I'm more hopeful than you for Logan it seems.
Nothing about the Fox/Marvel movies have me all that interested save for Deadpool 2. I have a feeling a majority of fandom feels the same. Seriously, does anyone want an FFINO 2? Or a Channing Tatum Gambit movie? Or another X-men movie where they'll rehash the same themes they've been stuck on since the Clinton administration?

I'll give Fox credit for staying out of Miller and Reynold's way and letting them make their movie. That's as far as I'm willing to go.

They should do that more often considering everything they interfere with usually turns to crap.

Yeah, to those who don't know any better perhaps. One major difference being that Marvel was still making back to back hits with their time.

How many people would've preferred another X-men film that's been sitting on the shelf instead of Kinberg and Trank creating the mess that was Fan4stic?

All good, valid points!

I think I like it here.... :woot:

Few excuses for what fox does to their Marvel characters/films do.

I'm not even looking forward to Deadpool 2 anymore. Miller is gone. So is the movie.

My exact sentiments. Not everything has to be about burning Fox to the ground sheesh...

Doesn't change the hypocrisy just because they happen to be your rose tinted glasses mon frere.

No, I actually wear contacts, so there's no excuse for not seeing things clearly when others grasping on to Fox-Marvel's dwindling relevance don't. And the fact is that I'm looking more forward to Ant-man & Wasp than I am Deadend.

Excuse me, I meant Deadpool. :cwink:

The first 2 episodes are getting an IMAX release. I'm excited.

Wait a second......how the heck can Marvel and FOX do a deal involving a character packaged with the FF rights when we all know that Constantin is the real power player?
That's what I would like to know
Ego was with the FF property too? Too bad all these awesome characters just sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Reversion cant come soon enough.
Probably Silver Surfer was its own package with all the cosmic characters in it.
Marvel should have asked for a more awesome FF related character (No offence to Ego fans). I am guessing Fox turned down some of their more preferred choices.
Well, it's a sweet deal, Marvel got a character in exchange of letting Fox change Negasonic's powers (no new propery for Fox, yay!)

It says the movie is abandoned, and that this isn't the movie (as it's a brand new project instead of a change of media, not that the 2 project will co-exist or anything)

Ah, gotcha.

And therein lies the truth that betrays that lie. Constantin have zero power. The deal Marvel made post Corman with Fox taking over production let Constantin keep a co-producer credit, but that's it.

James Gunn talked about this swap on his Facebook page and in the comments. He said that this kind of thing happens occasionally and is nothing new.

Refusing to give Fox credit for not screwing up a movie is apparently a desire to "burn them to the ground".

Who is being "petty and ridiculous" again?

Hmm... if Fox needs Marvel's approval to change characters, that would imply that Marvel approved Barakapool.
