IF they hire Kinberg (and it seems it's still just a rumor at this point), I think the strategy will be: Continue to make movies that look similar to previous films to get money from fans who will show up to any film that calls itself "X-Men" and looks similar to what has come before, and do it as CHEAPLY as possible to reduce risk.

If they hire Kinberg, I think it will be the Michael B. Jordan "They'll see it anyway" strategy.

I'll be there the first available showing that Thursday

Yeah should be a good year next year for X-Fans Deadpool then New Mutants then cap it off with X7. I'll probably see them each 4 or 5 times. Big X-Fan

I thought the costumes at the end of X Men: Apocalypse were awful. It was like they took the same awful designs used in all of non First Class films and spray painted portions of the black leather.

This reminds me of those FFINO fans who would lap up every bit of information they could get about it, say how great it was, and would cap it off with the standard response "I'm going to see it 10 times!"

I'll take anything over Black Leather or Flight Suits. I'm not a fan of Marvel characters like I am X-MEN would I rather MCU costume designers were doing X7 sure I would but it ain't happening

Never a FF fan but 90's X-MEN is my childhood I'm definitely going to be there smiling from ear to ear hopefully they'll play the theme song. My son is going love it. But would I prefer a reboot yes! But FoX won't do it so we're not getting a top notch candidate. It is what it is. No Mystique No Magneto No Wolverine means I'll finally see a proper team of X-MEN for once.

Simon Kinberg is going to analyse what he thinks worked about the previous and best entries of X-Men, and he'll conclude that he must bring back black leather flight suits and stories all about Wolverine, Magneto and Mystique. :o

I think it's the opposite especially since it's rumored those 3 won't be in the movie.

And he can try and pass 90's X-MEN off wearing Black Leather if he wants. The reaction will be more negative then Apocalypse's reveal.

This time it will be Wolverine in black leather with springs, Magneto with a big massive speaker on his chest and Mystique wearing a trashbag. :o

Fascinating....

I'm a big X-men fan as well, which is why I don't give Fox a single penny.

As I mentioned, if they hire Kinberg instead of a real director, that means the mantra will be "cheap". And if they're trying to do it cheap, they won't have high- priced actors.

For anyone who wants X-Men to return along with FF, I don't think there could be any better news than Kinberg writing and directing.

Wow! Had to catch myself. I tried to "like" your comment. Forgot what site I was on. Good post! I don't give Fox a dime when it comes to their Marvel movies. I will wait until it goes to HBO or Netflix. The sig is real!

Just so happens Apocalypse premiers on HBO on March 4th. But I still haven't bothered with Fan4stic yet. Guess I'm just not in that much of a hurry to watch something I know will only p*ss me off. (Just pay to watch it and then judge my @ss!)

That "Everything that's Wrong with in 20min" Youtube video gave me the jist of it anyway.

I'm not one to really bash movies(heck, I liked BvS)but F4 was the biggest piece crap I have ever seen. I think even the Rotten Tomatoes score it has now is to high.

There are plenty of bad films out there, and most of them can at least be fun in some ways.

Fant4stic is so incredibly, inexcusably bad in such annoying and indefensible ways that it goes from being simply bad to downright offensive.

And by all accounts, Simon Kinberg was the one, single person more responsible for Fant4stic than anybody else.

Each break in the time line brought with it a measurable drop in quality.

We meet L'il Reed and Benji! - Fun in some Ways

Grown up Reed joins the Baxter Institute and makes terrible decisions! - Simply Bad

Reed on the Run while Ben kills lots of folks and Victor returns for reasons! - Downright Offensive

It's like Trank got more drunk and out of his mind as he filmed it. He started off with some enthusiasm, took a break for the weekend, came back to find the dogs had eaten that apartment and began to stress out as he came back to work on Monday to film the next era. Then he pressed on, worried about the situation until the next weekend where he found out he had been fired from Star Wars and returned to work the following Monday performing even worse than before as he started on the final act.

:funny:

And from what we know, the presumption is:

First part of film: Trank + Kinberg

As the film progressed, it became all Kinberg.

So the third act of the FF film is what we can expect from a Kinberg X-Film. :hehe:

Between the 1st and 2nd acts I fell asleep for what I thought was only a few minutes, only to see the words "seven years later" flash across the screen. I was surprised this movie was still on after all this time and that I slept so long but still felt so tired. I decided I needed to get more sleep but tried to stay awake. Then between the 2nd and 3rd acts (if you can even call it that) I nodded off briefly again, only to see the words "one year later" on the screen again when I woke up. I wondered how long this movie was, because despite years of sleep it still was on and hadn't progressed very far in the plot.

It's like they're really making good on their promise that even if you fall asleep, you'll still see it anyway!

Anyone thinking Kinberg is the 'go to guy' for the future writing and direction of the X-Men under Fox should maybe take a peek at his resume. Hint: The only hits on that list are when he wasn't working alone.

The man wouldn't even be in the same galaxy never mind on my radar for a suitable candidate to take the helm.

When they hired directors for FF, look what they did: they hired Tim Story and Josh Trank - young directors who didn't really have any experience or clout who the studio believed (wrongly apparently in Trank's case) would do what they were told and create inexpensive films the way the studio wanted.

Kinberg is the ultimate company man, so Fox execs probably trust him to do as he's told and make the film the studio wants.

Despite my feelings about Fox, I still hope this doesn't happen because the X-Men are characters who deserve better than this... but if it is Kinberg, I think Fox will be sending a clear message (and making the kind of mistake they've been known for with most of their superhero films).

And X-Fans will get a taste of what we've been dealing with all these years.:csad:

Well, that depends on which X-Property we're talking, because I'd hardly call the likes of Logan, Deadpool, and especially Legion mistakes, even though I know a lot of folks, even some here, would easily call Deadpool- which was still Tim Miller's first film- and maybe Logan happy accidents or lucky results even though they had talented folks writing and directing those projects, especially with Noah Hawley's work on Legion, though that's a TV show with more freedom...though I'd easily put Legion above any other comic adaptation on right now.
