The Rebooted "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) Thread - Part 8

You know what I find fascinating? Foxphiles

Why do these people love Fox so much? The company didn't create the characters they love, and it has been responsible for gross disservice to the great majority of the characters to which they own rights.

Sure a select few have gotten decent development, but if you're not Wolverine, Xavier, Magneto or Raven, you're basically a glorified background character.

Hell, several of these folks admit these FOX movies are not a true or even the best representation of the characters they love, and they STILL show unwavering support for the studio? Why?
I have no idea... But it is fascinating to witness.

He is definitely the last one. Althought i found a guy in youtube the other day calling Daredevil the movie a masterpiece and the show "trash" so it might the same guy....

I doubt it. I think that guy is probably in a padded room with a shatterproof padded laptop so he can't hurt himself, but it does go to show you that there are all kinds out there......I just didn't think there were one of those.... EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the poster....I'm talking about the YouTube guy/gal.

Fant4stic > The Godfather :woot:

If we go back in time to the point that Josh Trank had been announced for FF, but we knew nothing else, I was willing to give Fox a chance.

Since Marvel consistently spends more than Fox on their films and since Marvel consistently makes better movies than Fox and since Marvel is putting together a Universe of all the characters that used to interact in the Marvel Universe when I was a kid reading the comic books, my preference would be to have Marvel do it.

But when Josh Trank was announced, I knew Fox was going to make it and I was stuck with them. That was a bummer, but I knew that if they invested to make a good film, they were capable of making a good film.

Unfortunately, they rarely devote the resources necessary to make good films, so I can't see any logical, objective reason to prefer them over Marvel if given a choice.

Giving them a chance I get. But how many chances are they due?
For you Willie I get how Fant4stic was the nail in the coffin, since the 4 are your favorites.
For me, FOX has lost my good will since The Last Stand and Origins Wolverine. Everything since then has been okay, mediocre or bad, with the exception of Deadpool. But even with the good stuff, there is the realization that these characters would be better served elsewhere. With a studio that cares more about storytelling than making a buck and perpetuating rights ownership.

Because X-MEN will never go back to Marvel unfortunately and I'm a die hard X-Fan. So there's nothing I can do but anticipate the next release and hope it gets better.

Just like people grew up being die hard Batman or Spider-Man fans (Avengers honestly feels like a new wave never met anyone as a kid who was just die hard over Avengers until after 2012 or liked Avengers comics till Bendis added Wolverine n Spider-Man) but X-MEN's my jam. You dance with the girl you came with etc etc

Because MCU characters from the comics can't compare to X-MEN character's from the comics imo and those are the characters that resonates with X-MEN fans so we like X-MEN movies better. It is what it is... MCU movies are great but I'm not invested in those characters because I never liked them growing up.

That depends on when you were a kid. For those of us over a certain (ahem) age, the Avengers were a Marvel flagship title back when the Uncanny X-Men was on hiatus. The Celestial Madonna, Bride of Ultron and Korvac Saga runs stack up with the best of the mutant stories.

Last time I checked, the inhuman poisonous gas is still killing X-Men. Don't deny it and joke it's only a conspiracy because we've had enough with this kind of denial in politics.

Why are x-men comics and tv coming back? maybe they realized movie fans didnt read comics and they needed to make more money after X-men readers had left Marvel for DC rebirth.

I wouldn't be concerned. Comic book deaths are rarely permanent.

The relationship between FOX and Marvel has clearly improved since FFINO left the theaters and the TV deal was announced. Both sides appear to have reached a mutually beneficial agreement that has yet to be fully disclosed.

Yup. I grew up in the X-Men dominated generation, but these stories are every bit on the level of Claremont's great stuff. A lot of the 'X-Men generation' seem to forget that Marvel Comics had a rich history of classic stories before anyone cared about the mutants. And the Avengers were often a top 5 title even at the height of 'mutant mania' in the 80's & 90's.

So its........................."I know it's a Cobra but I can only hope that its venom isn't as potent as last time" then?

Yeah, I won't be taking anyone claiming to be a "Die-hard Marvel Fan" of any kind seriously if they know the real owners of said franchises are getting screwed just as much as the fans are.

So since there's no gun pointed at my head. Fox can shove it! Revert back to Marvel! And that's it!

I honestly don't get the animosity for franchises other than the X-Men.
I grew up enjoying BOTH the Fantastic Four and the X-Men -- among other properties.

I want to see good movies that represent the best of the comics from BOTH franchises -- but from what I can see, the producers at FOX could not care less about that.

It doesn't really matter if people here want X-Men to fail or not. It doesn't really matter if Marvel wants X-Men to fail or not.

What matters is that is that IF Fox is even considering Kinberg to write and direct they're not putting an effort into making the X-Men succeed.

Simon Kinberg can do 1000 times more damage to X-Men than any of us or Marvel can do.

POINTS!!!

I grew up in the 80s and 90s. Avengers, West Coast Avengers, Fantastic Four were the comics I mostly grew up with as a kid. I read X-Men, but I din't love them as much as I did Thor or Hawkeye or Ben Grimm. And as I grew older and the 90s came along with the FoX animated X-Men series, I was already more invested into Doctor Strange than the X-Men ever managed. And judging from the other kids at school at that time, I wasn't alone in that regard

That's fine

I honestly don't get the animosity for franchises other than the X-Men.

I don't have any animosity I've routinely said throughout this thread MCU are the best comic book movies.

And the only thing I really want from Marvel is for X-Men to be included in Marvel vs Capcom 4 (Since X-MEN started the genre) and a new animated series not that much to ask.

And judging from the other kids at school at that time, I wasn't alone in that regard

Everyone has their own taste and that's good

A lot of the 'X-Men generation' seem to forget that Marvel Comics had a rich history of classic stories before anyone cared about the mutants.

I didn't forget I just didn't read any of it. Obviously there's fans who are die hard avengers fans growing up the same level as my x-fandom

Never say never. Many people used to say it would be impossible for Spidey to ever be part of the MCU. Yet here we are, with his own MCU movie coming out in a few months.

I will not lose hope that my X-Men, who like you, are my favorite characters, will someday be back in the hands of the company that saw them come to life. The only company which I believe will give enough resources, time and care to actually do them justice.

I will not settle for whatever FOX decides to throw at me and just say "hey, at least it's better than The Crap Stand".

How is this latest terrigen poison plot any different than Stryfe's legacy virus?
It isn't.
The deaths will always happen and the resurrections will always happen, if for no other reason than to make sure no other company can make copies of said characters (they can if a character is out of circulation in print for an extended amount of time). The arguments about them analyzing fan reactions do factor in somewhat, but I suspect not as much as what I previously mentioned: legal ownership of the characters.

Alexei Belyakov? Is that you?

If they decide (as they did with FF) that they're not going to hire visionary directors, and they're not going to get good scripts and they're not going to invest the resources required to make good films because fans will see any crap they put out, that will have an effect on the X-Men franchise.

A couple weeks ago, I would have assumed they recognized the value of the X-Men and the importance of continuing to invest, but the Simon Kinberg rumors make me question if they really are going to go the cheap route (as they historically have with most of their superhero films).

Everyone thought that the poor reception for both X3 and X-Origins: Wolverine would effect the entire X-men franchise but after nearly 10 years, it's still going strong. Sure, FOX may have hit a road block with Apocalypse but recent word of mouth says that Logan will be another critical darling next to Deadpool and DOFP. As for Simon Kinberg, he himself said that it was never announced that he will direct X-Men: Supernova and that someone made a premature statement about his role in the series so we shouldn't believe anything until FOX says otherwise.
