In Nolan´s world he cannot be perfect, he is like a commando, has to do a little bit of everything, he would never be the best martial artist ever, he can adapt to do stuff but hand to hand he would never defeat a fighter who trains for that all the time...

Then we don't have Batman. Period.

And I, for one, can't understand how this is acceptable to a true Batman fan.

I feel that the essence of Batman is in his drive to save Gotham, and his focus on his mission. He doesn't have to be a genius or have god-like smarts for him to represent the role. In fact, I do feel that sometimes the comics go overboard with the level of his intelligence. There is charm with not being the best in all aspects, but searching for other ways to achieve what needs to be done in each situation. That's why Batman will always hold a special spot in my heart over other heroes with superpowers.

It's always been my gripe about these films, as much as I love them. The Begins fights were cut too quick, and TDK fights used longer cuts that unfortunately made it all look very slow and staged. It's always been the weakest link in the franchise. It's like Nolan doesn't have much in the way of ideas for it and just says, 'May as well just elbow him again.'

From what I've seen of the fight on the steps, the problem is still present with the technique in TDKR. What I don't know is how it will be cut together this time.

No...It's the heavy suit that makes it slow! He can't even chase a guy down in that thing! Ever see him run a long sprint in the last two movies? BB's fights were cut for that reason....HE CAN'T MOVE LIKE A FIGHTER SHOULD.

And you're right.....it is the weak link. That can all change if we get kill the ghost of Tim Burton FOREVER! He started all of this armored mess....

The coolest thing about this suit was the cape....I like the leathern look over that bath towel he clips on now.....:awesome: Other that that, ditch the rubber suit. Give this guy more speed and agility.

Not to derail the topic, but to me Keysi always looked like Wing Chun Kung Fu as taught by a really bad teacher. But it is from Jeet Kun Do and Bruce's first stle was WC so you can see the lineage there.

As for its use in the films, if they don't look dynamic enough, that's Nolans thing. Even an ugly brawl between unskilled opponents can be made to look good.
i want to see sambo escrima and wing chun
these are styles best suited to the batman
and they can look awesome onscreen... KFM=Boring / incomplete

and why is this going on in the batsuit thread?

And that's where you, respectfully, miss the boat. It is for the very reason that he DOES NOT have god-like powers, that he feels that he must know more than everyone in the room. Hence the "Brother Eye" thing he created in Infinite Crisis or the protocols he invented to take down each JLA member in Towel of Babel. He has no powers. But his mind and body are his edge. His contingencies have contingencies....Did you read the Black Glove story line?? Even when someone is screwing with his mind, he had "mental" safeguards that helped guide him back to sanity.

Dang! :wow:

So he needs a suit that will allow the mobility and the use of the body he trained so hard to be faster and strong than his opponent!

Yep...

I don't know about being an absolute kungfu master, but Batman absolutely should be a genius. While fighting is important it is important that Batman be the greatest detective, which we absolutely have not seen.

I love that episode from The Animated series where (I think, been a long time) The Mad Hatter? has Bruce sedated and in a dream that is being presented to Bruce as real life. Bruce only realises he's dreaming because he can't read - something that is impossible in dreams - pretty deep stuff for a Saturday morning cartoon.

I'm not talking about slow-motion punches. The first fight scene in TDK, for example: Guy steps up, Bats positions himself, elbows, stands there... It's very stilted and the action has little flow. That kind of slow.

^You're right. I thought the fights in TDK looked way too rehearsed, like one was waiting for the other to throw a punch.

I thought Nolan's take was about his first few years. So his skills are suppose to be develop over time. Just like it was explained how his begins suit was too heavy and he needed to be quicker hence the new suit.(pay attention people and stop just trying to hate). I have no problems with the current suit but then again I'm not the insane like most of you on here.

In comics the only thing Bruce lacked in Year One was experience doing what he wanted to do. He had the martial arts, he had the smarts complete with forensic science and detective training. He just hadnt put it all together for the role he was to take on and the tactics he was going to use. Working out those kinks is one thing, not actually having all the skills is another. And honest critique is not "trying to hate" just because the criticism rankles you.

I am so glad they're not changing the bat-suit for this movie. Keeps visual continuity. Plus, it's a bad ass outfit. Looks great even in INTENSE light as seen in the Interrogation scene in TDK. I'm glad he's not turning this into Burton / Shumacher and changing the suit every movie just for the sake, or to sell merchandise. If it is to be changed, the story would need to require such change. As it should.

so....from what we've seen so far......the TDKR suit is pretty much the same as the TDK one?

Yup! :awesome:

And im really happy they havent changed it..so far atleast. But i do suspect there will be a change somewhere in the later half of the Movie.

Guys, has a new batsuit been revealed? I havent been checking in a lot and all i've seen is this new plane thing which looks like ****.

Not so far, no. But there is supposed to be a big surprise for us in the coming hours. That will make everybody happy. Possibly a new suit.

I've heard nothing about a big surprise coming today. If you're referring to subaru and Rag's scoop, they said to look for it soon.

Out of Nolan's Batman context, I couldn't agree with you more. Batman is recognized as one of the most formidable fighters in a universe where other people have powers, coupled with an almost genius I.Q., inventive and detecting mind. Not too mention an expert marksman who refuses to use a gun.

There two aspects to Batman's capabilities. Naturally, physical and mental. Physically: Master of most known martial arts, Olympic level athlete. Mentally: Inventive mind, one of the world's best detectives and of course his will. The Batman, if not never, rarely quits or gives up. Batman isn't a *****

The last is true but all the other atributes seem almost inhuman, almost like superpowers.

It's unfortunate, I wish we got TDK suit through all three films from BEGINS to TDK Rises.
