The white eyes make him look like he's having a seizure. No offense, i just hate the lenses in real life.

I still think some sort of GL/Daredevil/Rorshach route could work.

ignore the white eyes if you dislike them. It was originally intended to look as close to the comics as possible

Nothing a little ms paint can't fix

--dk7

You did that in MS Paint?

No no, originally done in photoshop. I just fixed the eyes in paint (copied and pasted from the left model)

Personally, I just feel the rounded cowl gives Batman a feminine look.

It wasn't so bad in BB, but in TDK the cowl got so round. And (I know the neck allowed him to turn his head) but the separation from cowl to neck looked EXTREMELY FEMININE. Especially silhouette shots..from the shoulders up it could be mistaken for Catwoman.

I said this before, and it's a bizarre idea. But what if they did the mask with prosthetics? (sure in the movie it could just be a mask, a cowl, something he throws on over his head)

But behind the scenes, (in the real world), it would actually be prosthetic.

Allowing him an extreme amount of movement in the mask? And to get even stranger...maybe even slight expression through the eyebrows?

Always thought it would be neat to see the mask work the way it does in comics and cartoons.

But I guess that would work better in a more artistic version...like if Zach Snyder got to do a stylized Batman

It would be tough mainly because of the folding due to the flat clean look, but it isn't impossible.

They could just make a real cowl that reaches down to his jaw, and a cape from the same material. Then just CGI the neck and put the two together giving Batman the cowl-cape combo from the comics. No mobility issues, no clasps, no pads, no creases.

On a visual level it would work, but using the same material for both the cowl and cape would kinda tricky, it would either be too rubber looking which would be heavy and hot or to fabric looking which would not help define the sculpt of the cowl. Either way I think it's something that most fans would want to see on film.

I like the comics mouth opening you implemented there. Its a pity they screwed the up in both cowls.
I think the comic mouth opening doesn't work with Bales slimmer jawline.

They want Batman to be able to turn his head?

Here's a crazy idea.

Make a cowl that isn't rubber.

If you like Pencil-Neck Batman, then yes we did.

And if the neck part was made of fabric or whatever, he'd look exactly the same.

No point to it.

No, because his head wouldn't have been made bigger due to the rubber helmet.

And if we got a cowl made out of a flexible material that fit tighter to Bale's head (thus making his head smaller), then his neck wouldn't look so scrawny.

Ah you're right. Let's have more of the same.

Bulbous rubber cowls for the win .

You can't get any tighter to his head than a helmet/mask made specifically for him.

That's just bale's head.

Look at a picture of Bale in the suit without the cowl.
Then look at a picture of him with it.

The cowl makes his head look bigger. Or am I to believe that Bale actually has a head that large?

It was specifically designed to be like a helmet, which adds size to your head. If it doesn't add size to your head, then it isn't a helmet.

It was made of solid rubber. That adds thickness.

Yes. Solid rubber probably...half an inch thick IF that. Maybe more like a quarter.

Sorry, not buying it.

His hair adds volume to his head and balances out the size and shape in a good way.

That IS Bale's head.

No, helmets refer to headgear with rigid structure either for protection or decoration.

Compare the distance from the top of the head (taking hair into account) between the two pictures.
