The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR Batsuit Discussion Thread

Uh no, we're probably for sure getting a new suit. Both movies have introduced the idea of Wayne constantly needing change to his suit to adapt to "said" situation so we'll most likely see a new suit in TDKR.

Not only that but as much control as Nolan has WB reigns king in little tidbits like that, they'll most certainly ask him to include a new suit based on toy sales alone, thankfully Nolan is a very smart director/writer so he includes these changes in costume quite naturally.

Plus it gives us more time with Lucious Fox which is never a bad thing.

This one by R teest gives a pretty good idea of what we might be getting. I would be fine with something like that only with fixing the neck to remove the ringed look but still allow movement. I'm sure they can come up with something.
In keeping with the separation of the cowl with the neck (which I thought was a great concept) they could widen the plates, going from three to two or even one. They could also lower the neck line of the cowl a little to compensate for this, and you have a neck that's thicker and less segmented but is still mobile.

I don't know why everyone likes that suit so much--if the suit is going to be so much like the TDK suit, then you might as well use the TDK torso anyway, since it looks better than the BB torso does in that manip. Furthermore, that big BB torso plate is just as overdesigned and mechanical as the TDK torso, so no improvement has been made, and the added flexibility of the TDK body has been sacrificed.

Bane made a number of neat tweaks to the TDK suit (like the neck, legs, and gauntlets), but putting the BB torso on there doesn't improve anything at all.

Would be interesting if the suit appeared to look like armor as seen in the Arkham games, but revealed to have cloth above it...

I love that suit, the ears are a little extreme but everything else about it looks awesome.

That's how it's mostly portrayed these days. Armored plates covered by cloth woven with kevlar fibers.

Yeah, I know. When I look at comic art, it always looks like your standard non-armored look that most superheroes seem to have. But, then I look at the actual Arkham games, I always get the impression that it's armor with no sort of cloth covering it.

Just thought that something that appeared to be all out armor, but wasn't would be interesting. Just an idea.

I agree 100%!
Maybe if the neck and head blended a bit better. As it stands now he looks like a Batman PEZ dispenser.
Nice! :woot:

Agreed.

Robo gauntlets and boots aside, yeah the AA suit is great.

AA boots and guantlets make perfect sense.

finger may be getting screwed out of credit, but that doesnt dis-credit kane's role, which was integral to batman existing.
The only thing that can be said for certain about Kane's "integral" role is that he was the one who presented the 'Batman' sketches to Vince Sullivan; anything (and everything) beyond that is open to debate. Hell, even the first image of The Batman the public saw, i.e., the cover of Detective No. 27, was a swipe from another artist's original work.

They do? Please elaborate.

Well for me, they make sense from a protection/weapon standpoint. I guess some people don't find them aesthetically pleasing or too bulky.

When I look at an MMA fighter or martial artist, they wear protective gloves and shin guards. When you punch someone in the face or deliver a kick, you take a fraction of that damage as well. Your hands can take a beating, hence the protection to absorb that damage.

In Batman's case, I feel like he would need that added protection when he's in an alley beating up 10+ goons because it takes a toll. The extra added armor could also work as a weapon in conjunction with his guantlets to inflict more pain on criminals. Think of brass knuckles.

Not really advocating that Nolan Batman beefs up his guantlets/boots anymore than what they are, but AA Batman's look and gear makes a lot of sense to me.

I love it.

No matter how clunky as people constantly criticize it for being he moves so damn gracefully in the game despite it all.

I honestly forget about it due to the fact of the brilliant movement. Anyway its a great costume regardless IMO.

His whole suit is discreetly armoured. I dont see why his boots and gloves need to look like Ironman's. I mean, what's wrong with his gauntlets in Begins?

He'd break some bones in his hands every other day, that's what's wrong.

Do these 'gauntlets' look like they absorb anything of the punch?

I was referring to the gauntlets, not the gloves. I'm guessing you meant the latter. I wouldnt mind knuckle protection but i dont think its necessary. At the end of the day i think you re being way too interested in real life logic and practicality when it comes to a comic book character. I could make thousands of arguements about the impracticality of the cape, exposing your chin, not wearing a gas mask, and so on.

Its Batman, he should look cool first and practical second.

Are we gonna see real like abbs this time?

TDK suit abbs are too robotic.

I would like it better if the suit didn't have the yellow bullseye thing in it. It would look kind of silly.

The only thing I don't like about the AA Batman is his face. I sometimes mentally remove the cowl to imagine what Bruce Wayne looks like underneath and I start to giggle. Looks like Ron Perlman.

I really would give anything to see a suit similar to that in the next film, but I won't be holding my breath on that one.
