I am with the majority I really don't like the Nolan cowl bat ears they're too short and stubby.

Short and stubby? I would say that of the 1966 Adam West Batman cowl, but not Christian Bale's Batman cowl.

I'd like to see them even shorter. I'm a Lee/Mazzucchelli guy, myself.

That might be too short. I prefer the medium length to avoid looking like Adam West.

Nolan should move toward that cowl and cape design. I'd like to keep the smaller ears, less curved though. And the boots too.

What's wrong with the curved ears?

I don't know how else to describe them, I like the ears to be sharp and sculpted. With some angles the BB and TDK cowls look good as far as the ears go but at other angles they just look plain bad.

Meddle, will you be making the armor plates out of urethane? The Brotherhood of the bat will have good advice if you want, I've been a member for a while now.

Like all of the suits, the majority of the suit will look urethane. I'm aiming for a Batman Returns suit that would "work" in the Nolanverse as if they decided to take the Batman Returns suit out of the closet and decide to update it for the new films. The work on the cowl was something I quickly did, it'll look more accurate.

Planning to do the entire suit as well.

That is so badass! My very little complaint with the TDK cowell was that it didn't look "batman" enough. I don't know if that makes sense, but that Cowell is great.

Does anybody think that the classic Batman symbol (:ybat:) would fit in or look right in Nolan's bat-films? I guess if the suit aims for practicality, then Bruce would not wear it because it wouldn't be stealthy enough.

Actually, it would be pretty cool if there's a scene where Bruce is considering a new symbol for the suit and shows a sketch of the classic symbol, but then prefers the black symbol. :yay:

I don't think that would be cool, I think it would be insulting.

Really? I love the classic symbol, but I guess it could come off as insulting. Do you think the classic would be plausible in Nolan's Batman?

Well the suit already has that great big gold belt, so I don't think plausibility is the problem. I'd say the yellow symbol is inappropriate for the Nolan series, as it makes Batman more like a superhero, which Nolan's Batman certainly is not.

Right?! Why wouldn't Bruce paint his belt black? But maybe in the next film franchise we'll get the classic bat symbol...

I don't think it works very well as a symbol. One of the coolest things about Batman's Batsuit (to me), even in the comics, is that, out of all of the superhero costumes, its design makes the most sense to me, especially with black. The yellow oval doesn't really work with that, and to me, because it amounts to putting a bullseye over your heart where everyone is going to be aiming.

I had an idea for designing the suit that recalled or gave nod to the bright yellow chest symbol (and the aim-here-the-armor-is-thicker rational behind it) that could be kind of cool. Maybe not bright yellow, and when not in use probably wouldn't look too interesting at all, but it would still be the first place you look. It would conceal a large blinding apparatus, like a camera flash or flash-bang grenade. So he jumps down in front of the thug with the gun, and they're all staring at him for a second. He triggers that thing, blinding everyone, disorienting them, while Batman slips around behind or to the side and does his punchy kicky thing.

I think it would work with a nice gold colour instead of a matte yellow.

Exactly. I think that would look very bad-ass.
Same here. I'm ASSUMING they already made a bran new armor suit for the third film. Why would they? Trust me, Nolan will come up with a good excuse. Like in every single Batman movie ever created (including Nolan's films), I'm assuming they want Batman to have a fresh appearance. This would also call for an opportunity to change the emblem if they're up for it. I want to see it because I like the idea of finding ways to give Batman a different look in each film. Change is good. Some people think it'll look too cartoony or too Superman-ish but there are fine costume designers that could make it look good on the Nolanized version of the Batsuit. There is no right or wrong answer, it's just a personal preference.

if the yellow symbol was done right I would be ok with it, as long as it was the nolan bat symbol being used I just don't see nolan using the classic bat symbol for any reason.

With Batman becoming the hero Gotham deserves in the next films finale and becoming a symbol for Gotham, it would be fitting if he wore the yellow symbol so hes sort of a bright symbol hidden in darkness

I think it would be great if he wore the yellow symbol so the bat symbol stuck out more, then when he's hiding in the shadows and a criminal sees the symbol first they can start crapping themselves before Batman even does anything

is it wrong for me to want the bat ears on the cowl to be long and sharp like the Keaton cowls?
