If the doomsday device is ticking, Batman taking away the device is taking on the responsibility to save everybody, and being pushed by Bane to do so - especially if Bane's the one to arm it close to his own death. There is no other choice for him in this situation either. Sit around and wait for it to destroy Gotham, or act. Batman doesn't know he's going to walk away from it alive. He doesn't have to be flat out dead for him to become a legend. But he can be assumed to be.

I guess I can see it from that perspective too. I just wouldn't want it to be all Harry Potter-like, it's sort of anticlimactic in my opinion. But if Nolan goes that route and pulls it off, I'll have no qualms about it whatsoever.

Christ, that would be a nice bit of script writing if the Nolan Bros. went that far with Bane's boldness that he would actually go after Gordon's son and that's how the info leaks about Dent.

Yeah, I never heard of him being cast either. Well if we assume that he was 12 in TDK and this is 8 years later, then Jimmy Jr. is off at college. Ipso facto, no Jimmy Jr.

As absurd as all the John Blake conspiracies flying around are, this one could be the most logical. Highly unlikely, but logical all the same.

I haven't heard of any of the family coming back but that's not to say they don't.

On one hand I can see the end of TDK ripping the Gordon household apart. Barbara REALLY wants to leave Gotham but James can't let himself leave Gotham because he feels responsible.

Well...on the other hand I can't see her staying at all, honestly.

The thing about John Blake is that he is someone who looks up to Gordon and he may be of similar age to James Jr. so it wouldn't be surprising if Gordon took a liking to him because he misses his own son.
