I think Bane is simply going into berserker mode. No anesthetic, and he's lashing out.
I agree. It can make him even more dangerous to be around if he connects, but also at the same time, if Batman keeps him head and remains steady and composed, Bane's fighting style would become loose and erratic, leading to his defeat.

I can see it being like a bull fight with Batman being the matador and Bane being the bull.

Personally, I really hope Blake doesn't take up the mantle of the Batman, because to me Batman is Bruce's journey, and his alone. Only he can end it just like he started it. While I understand that Batman is a symbol as well, I feel it'd be a more strong ending if the legend of the Batman inspires Gothamites to clean up their city by themselves. As long as Nolan keeps this in mind for the ending, I'm good.

thats what i want Ra's said bruce could be a legend but bruce wanted to be everlasting. If bruce dies and the people of gotham notice it was the millionaire playboy sacrificing himself to make gotham better, he will leave that image stained with the gotham people and truly become everlasting even in death

See, that would be the difficult ending for the audience. That would be a great ending by how it's executed.

A passing the torch ending would be way too easy and really wouldn't be any different from what Bruce was trying to do with Dent.

Totally agree.
Bruce became Batman to inspire, once he meets his goal and the people are inspired, Batman is no longer needed.

the inspiration could be provoked by his death, thus batman is no longer needed.

If Blake dons the cowl, it will be while Bruce is in prison. IF, I said, for the snarky detractors that post various laughing smileys when someone suggests that as a possibility.

This movie will end with Gotham no longer needing a Batman, and Bruce focusing on helping the city to rebuild. He can finally fulfill his father's vision of Gotham.

Sure, or faked death. But regardless, The Legend of Batman Ends with Bruce Wayne, any alternate Batman would cheapen that arc IMO.

What if Bruce just leaves his stuff to Blake in the end, but not necessarily with the intention of Blake becoming Batman?

I think a Gotham not needing Batman anymore is what will make Bruce happy since that means that he has finally done his job.

oh defiantly when i say i want batman dead it is not because i want a passing of the torch new batman, id rather have gotham inspired by the heroics and the everlasting image of batman saving gotham be the inspiration for the public to clean their own city and no longer needing the Knight.

That would be incredibly cheap IMO, these movies are Bruce's arc, and a "In case the day ever comes...." would instill a sense that this story isn't over.

I do think there's a chance someone else might be operating as Batman, when Bruce is recovering though, giving Batman a sort of "superhuman" persona.

Exactly. [/fullcircle]

This is my hoped for ending. The legend of Batman ends and the real legend, the greater legend, of Bruce Wayne begins.

Bruce has it wrong thinking symbols are incorruptible. Symbols are empty and can be filled with anything; they're highly unstable. But a man, a man is real flesh and blood and when it stands for something, it lasts, not like a symbol, which can undergo a change in meaning

Case in point: Harvey Dent.

Bruce will realize his mistake and that his only chance to help gotham is as man, with will, with fire (the fire rises for man, not a symbol).

That will be the end of batman. The legend ends. The real hero begins.

I've always imagined the final shot being a sort of "Gangs of New York" style ending, showing Gotham rebuild, clean up, and flourish.

This.

Nolan has crafted this story to be about Bruce, and his mission. Bruce's goal in this has been about galvanizing Gotham so that it would no longer need someone with a mask to lead the city into better times. If batman is still needed by the end of this and Bruce was forced to hand the mantle over to Blake, then it would be fair to say Bruce failed in his mission.

Gotham found peace with Harvey's death but that one was fragile and built with lies. This time around, they'd find peace based on solid truth and that would be longer lasting.

I dont' get this at all though, Batman Beyond does it, and I think it's just fine. Batman's legend goes on, Bruce's may not. The symbol of Batman no matter what never dies, just like a lot of symbolism in the world.

Speaking of the ending. . .

[BLACKOUT]Has anyone debunked/proven the supposed Raganork/Rocketman ending yet?[/BLACKOUT]

No because Gotham is not going to be safe for eternity, that would be foolish to think so. Bruce is creating a symbol for the good to rally behind when things go bad, and have something that people will fight for, and continue to fight for. Bruce is a man, not some magician that will magically make it where crime never rises up again. Evil always does. If there is the everlasting eternal symbol of the Batman for the city and good citizens to rally behind, Bruce has succeeded.

I'm still curious as to how the secrets behind Harvey's death are discovered by Bane?

Batman dying and all of Gotham finding out that it was Bruce would be a fitting ending for me. The symbol he talked about wanting to become would be more impactful if you it a face to it. Especially someone with the last name Wayne mixed in with the fact everyone thought of him as a billionaire playboy.

Awesome post.

Possibly through Rameriez, and she could be spreading the rumor and easily someone finds out like Bane. She is still alive, Two-Face let her live.
