The more I hear and see of this film, the more I think this is going to be No Man's Land + Knightfall + Dark Knight Returns with a unintentional thematic dash of Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader.

I approve of this.

I think the cast pulled a fair amount of wool over people's eyes, and it wasn't even one of the better performances from Pacino/DeNiro. And there's no 'confusion' on my part, quite the opposite as I see the weak story and characterization as what they are.

I absolutely dont agree with you, I think the story and especially characterization are amazing.

I have nothing against you going against the "popular" opinion, quite the opposite, I really respect that. I am the same about some things.

For example, I absolutely hate Dostoyevsky for reasons that are irrelevant to be discussed here. But when I hear somebody talking about Dostoyevsky, or reading on some forum how someone loves Crime and Punishment I will not tell him/reply "You like dostoyevsky :huh:".

I recognize that I am the one with the opinion that is completely opposite from the general from both the critics and the public. (it wont make me change or hide mine btw)

So when you say, for a movie that has been criticaly aclaimed, loved by many, being loved even more as time goes by (you can find it on best of the 90's lists now), loved among other people by Christopher Nolan who's fans we all are here, I'm just confused that someone would say to me about a movie like that

"" when I say I like it.

Because I do recognize what other people love about dostoyevsky and I realise he is loved by many and you seemed confused by the fact that someone loves Heat. Which is honestly incredible :) (and kinda weird...you didnt know that the movie is in genera loved?)

p.s. forgive me on my spelling etc mistakes, english not first language :)

I tried that excuse with my cable company when I got flagged. They didn't go for it and threatened to suspend my service. Apparently it's illegal. Who knew?

torrents are ghetto

and maybe a dash of son of the demon?

So that Chinese review of TDKR...he watched the dubbed version, right? Cos' those are never that good :o

Maybe. Not sure yet. Definitely possible. But I definitely can say with certainty that this is going to have elements of Knightfall, NML, DKR and some probably unintentional themes from WHTTCC

The HK trailer was in English unlike the other foreign trailers so it could have been the original voices.

I personally loathed Black Swan but I would never in a million years call it a bad film - it's really well made with great performances but none of it grabbed me in a satisfying way, but I understand how it worked so well for others.

I wasn't name checking Nolan as someone who could magically reverse an opinion, just someone who might be able to shed a little light on the fact that it is far, far, far from 'bad'. On an emotional level it might not speak to you, but as a fan of film I feel it should be at least respected, not passed off as rubbish like something Ratner or Bol tossed off (same goes for Tree of Life)

I respect and agree with that.

I'm pretty sure he does the horizontal bop with Tate. now whether or not she turns out to be Talia..that's another thing altogether. and I'm not going spoiler hunting to find out either.

Chinese reviewer was at the LA screening so...no.

I will say, being Chinese myself, that we have our cultural quirks. :funny: Many of the native speakers I know (ie, the ones who are still "Chinese" enough to write that well) are simply on a different cultural plane than the very Americanized Chinese-Americans such as myself.

Yes. Confucionism is on a totally different plane ideologically compare to western thought.

Yup. The soundstagey feel of BB is a huge contrast to the scope of TDK's locations.

Which I in universe explain with Gotham being so big and having so many different parts and areas.

I like how you can notice the monorail in the Nokia trailer of TDKR.

Makes sense.

No, really. My mom has a very hard time keeping up with The Colbert Report even though she's very intelligent and very open-minded and has been in the US for 35 years. It's just that satire is not a Chinese thing. It simply doesn't exist in the culture.

Not that TDKR is satire, but just an example of how different cultures can think differently.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I know what you mean.

Which I absolutely disagree with, but okay.

I'm not looking specifically to be 'against the grain', as I agree with plenty of other things that both the public like and dislike. But this, I feel, is not a very good film creatively. I actually find it quite funny in ways it's surely not intending to be.

So when you say, for a movie that has been criticaly aclaimed, loved by many, being loved even more as time goes by (you can find it on best of the 90's lists now), loved among other people by Christopher Nolan who's fans we all are here, I'm just confused that someone would say to me about a movie like that

Was not finding it strange that someone does like it, just disagreeing that it was good...and it's a case which I find the critical acclaim to be dubious.

Because I do recognize what other people love about dostoyevsky and I realise he is loved by many and you seemed confused by the fact that someone loves Heat. Which is honestly incredible :) (and kinda weird...you didnt know that the movie is in genera loved?)

Again, there was no confusion...quite the opposite. Hope that no longer confuses you.

But yeah, it's too off-topic.

I have a feeling TDKR preview during Falling Skies will be a clip. It's about the right time to start getting them too.

What's everyone most excited to see in TDKR?

Hmmm that's pretty intriguing.
