The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion & Speculation Thread - - Part 19

The dialogue itself still seems quite cheesy to me, but honestly? The context of the lines themselves like Bane making the city his prison, stealing Batman's "weapons" (Tumblers), Batman being "away", Bane unleashing armies... could any of that have been guessed at the time this was posted? How long ago did these quotes originate again?

Both of Nolan/Goyer's previous bat-movies had (awesomely) cheesy dialogue, and based on the teaser trailer -- "Now, this evil rises..." -- so will this one.

The man behind Batman is definitely a Bane mercenary. If it would be anyone important, it could be Josh Stewart's character.

Something about it being winter(it snows here a lot) and the holidays mixed with the trailer just worked so well.

I'm looking forward to getting that feeling again. I'm looking forward to watching TDKR trailer on a winters day. I know it's going to give me that holiday feeling just like the TDK trailer did.

For me, the excitement may be two-fold. Watching the trailer during winter time and then hopefully watching the Blu-Ray release during winter time too. It will feel so magical.

So are they done with filming?

^ No. They're filming until Sunday according to Paul Franklin.

The dialogue a page back sounds good to me, besides the obvious grammar stuff.

It's got the necessary gravitas, but it's also definitely delivery-dependent. Then again, so is a lot of the dialogue in Nolan films. Fortunately, the Nolan/Goyer writing team is good at tailor fitting dialogue for specific actors.

If they're fake, I'm sure will get something along a similar vein regardless.

I always figured the film would end on something like "and whenever Gotham City should fall, the Dark Knight rises." or something else suitably poetic in that very Nolanesque way.

I'm inclined to agree. However, that person what was behind Bane in the hood caught my curiosity; I know Bale and Hathaway wore them on set, but I'm not familiar with that particular gentleman from the photos last Saturday, I believe it was.

Just Batman's stand in. Nothing more.

Speculation for an average day in Gotham:

Wayne is taken to a secure location for protection/questioning by Blake around the time of the Stock Exchange Biker attack.
That night, Wayne *escapes* the secure location and goes to talk to a hospitalised Gordon, who convinces him to bring back Batman.
Batman tracks down and deals with the biker gang, and manages to escape capture by the police.
Bruce switches back into his suit and sneaks back into his secure location as if nothing had happened!
With Batman still at large and the biker threat over, Blake releases Bruce the following morning and drops him off at Selina's house.

Very cool! I like where you are going with that. It could also explain certain trailer pushups...but probably not considering It looked like Bruce had a beard in that scene...

Speaking of dialogue, I remember back in the glorious viral marketing days of TDK, there was this line I came across, "You never know what a man is truly made made of until you peel the skin off his face a layer at a time." It was supposed to have been said by the Joker & I thought it was awesome, but never showed up in the film or script that I'm aware of.

Where is that dialogue coming from? If true, then that's a good enough Joker reference for me.

I think instead of breaking Batman's back in the film, Bane will break his leg/legs.

What do you guys think?

I think it'll be his back. Ironically enough, the title Batman Returns seems to fit this film more then the Burton film .

I don't think the back breaking will happen but he will be beat up so severely that it required him to recuperate and have a limp for some time.

Reading her posts, she is completely delusional. She said "and if you need proof of this you can check her official website!"

uhh...

Katie Holmes has fans?

Ok, random speculation here. Tags just in case...

The movie will be based partially on the French Revolution. Bane and the League will encourage the lower classes to rise up against the "aristocrats" of Gotham. Bane will initially use fear to gain control (e.g demonstrating what the machine is capable of at the Football game).

Bane will expose Dent's crimes and the subsequent cover up. This will cause people to lose faith in the police force.

The upper classes and the police will be overthrown, exiled and forced to hide underground.

America will turn it's back on Gotham and it will become a No Man's Land.

The fact that the Mercs are actually the League of Shadows will be a surprise for those not in the know i.e the general audience.

Catwoman will represent a grey area, but ultimately she is the definition of what Bruce hoped to inspire in the previous films. She is a criminal but not a villain. Think of Bruce's line in BB "The first time I stole so that I wouldn't starve..."

A lot of lines from BB and TDK will be referenced visually. Alfred's line about "freed slaves" being secretly transported in the tunnels will relate to the exile. Ra's line about standing in the way of "true justice" lines up with Batman being stabbed by Talia.

That's all I've got right now.

God I hate Katie Holmes as an actor. I can't believe people who prefer her to Maggie. It's like lightyears apart when it comes to talent.
