From my viewing experience featuring highly intelligent characters, it's not so much about quantity as it is presenting the inherent traits consistently from scene to scene. It's how they talk, how they think, how they approach scenarios. You could feasibly have zero scenes purely dedicated to detective work, and it would still be possible to showcase Bruce's acumen with relatively little effort.

What's obvious in Nolan's films, as with others, is that the comic book depiction of Batman being so mentally gifted and a thorough tactician, has not been deemed a priority. Which is fine, but I would not say it is for lack of sufficient time or purpose within a narrative. To me, that just lacks imagination if anything.

If there was any one statement to effectively end progress of a discussion while definitively stating an opposing view is invalid and has no possibility of providing a legitimate alternative; this is as good as an example as any.

If you want to validate that opposing view, go ahead and try.

I don't think the divide is there. Batman could still have his gadgets in these film and keep the 'realistic' tone.

Whatever the reason Chris has kept the gadgets out are his own, it doesn't personally bother me. I still feel that Batman is Batman in these films

Agreed. I still would like to see some more stealthy Batman in this last film and the use of more smoke bombs and batarangs though if possible.

This Trilogy is going to be great watching each movie back to back and then formulating opinions as we string everything together... Yes I know, I'm already looking forward to the Bluray release!!! lol

There's a good reason for this now too, particularly at the beginning with Batman being on the run. He'll have to operate quietly rather than being accepted out in the open like he was in TDK. I hope we get to see it.

I don't need to. The position that completely dismisses all avenues of possibility in a fictional and artistic context, is an illogical and unreasonable stance.

I just hope that if he uses smoke grenades, that The Final Countdown is playing in the background. I mean, would a guy in a $8,000 batsuit do anything else? Come on!

Then Bane faces off against him with Randy Orton sparks flying from the ceiling as "Rock you like a hurricane" plays.

the first comment was why does he hate batman? come on guys.

its just a movie.

Well he hates the Batman Nolan films, that's for sure.

Its a fine question.

I think some of Faraci's enthusiasm has been sucked out of him as the past year went by judging by his blog posts he's written. I kind of had some of the same reaction, just not nearly as much of a drop-off.

look he doesnt like movies that are hyped and that make money. he hated Avatar just for that. you can see it now when he talks positive about Scorseses 3D and how he likes the facial motion capture from Planet of the Apes.you can see it wit hInception. he liked Inception because he thought it would underperform.

is it fair? of course its not. but he is a guy writting about movies.

You're getting defensive. I don't know the guy all that much or the history of his website. I was curious. You're saying he hates popular things. My question is answered.
