WB is greedy. And with Potter and Batman they are King.

With Potter decimating so many box office records, would it really be surprising if Warner Bros made Nolan convert the film to 3D? I personally would hate it because that means all IMAX showings would be 3D and I loathe 3D. But I wouldn't put it past the Brothers Warner either.

I don't know why people really care if the TDK records is beaten by Harry Potter. Every films records are beat eventually.

WB is rather cool on the 3D thing. They didn't do Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 1 in 3D beacuse they didn't want a inferior product by rushing the 3D in post production.

There are other studios that wouldn't give a rats ass and be happy to put out a poor 3D job movie

Is it a certainty that Harry potter will crush TDK's weekend record?

if any movie could this year... it's Potter IMHO... having seen just how rabid the fanbase is at the Midnight showing Thursday.... i wouldn't put it past them pushing Potter past TDK records

Yes, but it likely won't beat TDK's admissions. Right now it's getting an 11% boost from 3D ticket sales (3D is currently accounting for 43% of the gross). It will probably make $180-185m for the weekend. But when you take out the 3D boost it's around $162-167m. TDK's weekend adjusts with regular ticket price inflation to around $175m.

There's always a trade-off between price hikes and actual admission, so I don't think the 3D is too much of an x-factor. Evidently people didn't care about the increased prices, so it is only fair to count the numbers as is.

The music industry doesn't use dollar gross. The movie industry uses it because it's the only way they can keep breaking records every year so they can use it in their marketing campaigns.

The Lost World has the longest status as Opening Weekend #1, which is 4 years.

It would be epic for TDKRises to be the first film will to take away TDK Opening Weekend record.

Potter is taking it this weekend. I don't think TDKR will have the same demand as TDK, so it will probably be slightly ahead of TDK's 2008 weekend gross but not as good as TDK's adjusted 2012 weekend gross. I'm predicting $162m for it.

Neither method is particularly ideal because it can never take into account the outside factors that affect sales. As an example, the movie industry was changed with the introduction of home theater. As was the music industry with the advent of digital. Yet measures of gross remain consistent.

It's a fairly complex situation altogether, so I think it's best if people just take it for what it is, rather than break it down. It's nigh impossible to accurately consolidate all that information into one cohesive formula.

lol, it is the most anticipated third film in a trilogy (that will actually be good, if not great) since ROTS or maybe Matrix.

It's going to be huge...

$162m would be huge, just not as huge as TDK adjusted for 2012 prices.

people are always pessimistic about Batman's box office. not a lot of people thought TDK was gonna make more than a billion dollars (i didn't). I guess its good to have low expectations

Hell, look at the pessimism on Inception...

A Nolan film doesn't need Ledger to kill the BO.

Batman can do it all on his own. Especially being his first third film in a remarkable trilogy evah, coming after two films everyone loves and regards as greatness.

But didn't Warner Bros make Clash of the Titans...!!!:cmad:

The thing we've never seen before in a Batman film is where Batman is physically matched to his foe. We've never seen Batman backing away from an oncoming enemy like Bane in this trailer. The fact he seems scared says a lot. I love it. We've never really seen Batman genuinally scared by a single villain in a film. Anyone else love that? The Joker doesn't scare Batman, but what does is what he's capable of, as much as he underestimated him. Here, Bruce could very well fear Bane himself, not to mention what else he's capable of.

It's kind of funny Bruce will be caught off guard again. Bane is the complete opposite from the Joker. One has no rules, the other one does. And the other can beat the **** out of Batman. Bruce is fighting someone who's a lot like him, yet isn't. You'd think Batman would be on the look out for more threats like the Joker, but Bane isn't like that. That's why I think bane is such a great and logical next step after the Joker.

but batman didnt look scared so why do you people keep saying that? yeah it sounds good but its not true. he simply looked tired like he was fihting, he wasnt backing up. i say bullsh-t

A qucik question my friend ask me...Is TDKR being filmed with a Imax camera again? If so is it the entire film?

All scenes apart from dialogue based scenes, someone correct me if im wrong.

I believe there were rumors of Nolan and Pfister talking to IMAX about producing a camera that was alot quieter, not sure if the rumors were true or not.

This was before people started saying he was more tired and people were actually seeing the movie yesterday. Not to mention this is what it looked like from the bootleg. I happen to agree with them now since I've seen it for myself.

im sure it would of been more of something to talk about if he was backing up but to bad thats not the case.

I really think the idea of Bruce being scared of Bane is a poor one. Fear was a major theme of Begins and to make Bruce afraid of Bane simply because he is a physical threat seems to me a retreading that will pale in comparison.

In fact, i think the whole idea of Bane's importance being the physical threat he represents is a step in the wrong direction. The past films have been about conflicts of ideas. Revenge vs. Justice Order vs. Chaos Can Batman stop the Joker without betraying the moral code that made him who he is? To assign to Bane the significance of Batman's first real physical challenge is a major letdown and something I don't think Nolan would do. It doesn't fit with his M.O. of making the thinking man's blockbuster.

Bane is also a master tactician and strategist. He's not just muscle.

And since he's the MAIN villain in this movie, and not just a henchman, that's more than likely how he'll be portrayed.
