Exactly. I've always said that if one were to go off of the assumption or belief that Bruce Wayne might be Batman, it would be extremely easy to figure it out. The fact that was gone 7 years, then returned around the same time as the emergence of the Batman. The fact that he actually has the resources one would need in order to be Batman. The fact that he became a recluse soon after Batman was accused for Harvey Dent's murder and went missing.
I think he actually became a recluse after the energy source thingamajig was proven to be too dangerous to use. Didn't Miranda say something to that effect?

This is true. I'm actually glad you brought that up, cause that line opens the door for Batman being secretly active for a while until the Dent Act is passed, or at least keeping an eye on things for the Batcave. Couple that with Alfred's line, "You haven't been down here for a long time" (which shows that Bruce had at least been down in the new cave at some point, which meant he was doing Bat-stuff post-TDK) and it becomes much harder to believe he immediately gave up on being Batman after TDK. It was probably more of a slow realization that he wasn't needed as Batman, so he then tried to help as Bruce Wayne and failed, and that's when the bitterness and frustration hit him and he fell into limbo.
Batman disappears for 8 years.
Bruce Wayne becomes a recluse for 8 years.

And at the same time,
[blackout]Bruce Wayne dies[/blackout]
Not to mention the only person who could afford all of Batman's tech is Bruce Wayne.
Yes. It's very obvious. Everybody in Gotham should know Bruce is Batman.
Bruce was not a recluse for 8 years. He was active sometime working on the energy project at Wayne Enterprises. Then after it "failed", he became a recluse. When exactly he became a recluse is not known but it was not for the entire 8 years.
Yeah based on his conversations with Tate, he was working on the clean energy project and then when Pavel published his paper about how to use it as a weapon (3 years ago), Bruce shut down that project (and claimed that it wasn't working) and became a recluse.
We don't know though if he kept making appearances as "playboy Bruce" during those 5 years before he became a recluse or if he just kept to himself and locked himself at WE working on the project.
3 years since the events of TDKR.
I think he stopped the appearances as "playboy Bruce" because they existed only because of Batman. And I saw him working on the project like a way to do for Gotham the same his father did years before, but with the train. He became totally recluse after shut down the project maybe because he thought he failed in all the ways he could in help the city.
Honestly , reading some stuff in here makes me very surprised. Its like some people didn't even pay attention to the movie. Bruce wasn't recluse for 8 years. That is a major point the movie makes , regarding his actions as Batman vs Bruce. The exile is a response he makes after the failure as Bruce , and not being able to come back as Batman (because he wasn't needed). The whole exile gives so much about the character. Beautiful and subtle writing by the Nolan bros. If people dont get this , how the hell can you enjoy Bruce development through the movie ?
t:Some of those details might make you enjoy the movie more.Yup. It's time some posters got some fresh air and started paying attention to the details.t:

This forum makes me appreciate the TDK trilogy more more each day![]()
