This is the classic Hollywood agency game. Happens all the time, it's just rare that it involves such a high profile client and project.

Anybody disappointed that Nolan couldnt give us atleast 4 movies out of his Batman series. Not that I didnt like TDKR, but I wish they could of continued the story straight from TDK. A story that would have him running from the cops, and Hugo Strange helping the GCPD to try and catch him. I dont know I didnt like how it started 8 yrs from TDK and all of a sudden the League of Shadows felt that it was a good time to attack Gotham. Oh well what a bummer, heres to JUSTICE LEAGUE!!!

I would rather 3 cohesive stand alone movies making a nice complete trilogy that are nicely tied together in the end than something that starts to sag and bloated becoming a poor imitation of its former self and something you hate rather than love.

Yeah of course more films of these three's quality would not be unwanted but all good things must come to an end and you got to know when the best time to leave is as there is always the chance things will get worse rather than stay as good as they are.

Man, I'm dreading Justice League. The good thing about Avengers is that the run-up to it gave each character a chance to be fleshed out before they're thrown together, I can't shake the feeling that Justice League will potentially come off as ham-fisted and not seem like much more than an Avengers rip-off.

That's probably because it will be. I mean... jesus christ let's just look back at it for a second: Bale-Bats is specifically EXPLICIT about the fact that "vengeance" and "justice" are two different things, and moreover that justice should be opted for when you're superheroing around. The Avengers sort of DON'T GET THAT. Not bashing on them or anything but a JLA that rips off Avengers and keeps Nolan's Batman in it would be just poor script writing.

I recently watched some Batman: TAS episodes to build up to watching Batman Beyond, a show of which I saw some episodes back in the day but not thoroughly. However, I forgot about The New Batman Adventures, the series that ran between TAS and Beyond. It has quite a different animation style. Is TNBA worth watching, or should I go straight to Batman Beyond?

New Batman Adventures is definitely worth watching. They have some GREAT episodes. It's note quite as consistently good as TAS and it's lost the appeal of the atmosphere, but it's still the same great story-telling.

My biggest gripe with that show what they did to the Joker's design.

Yeah I agree--though I loved the Joker design from ROTJ and later in JLU. That blended in with the TNBA and BTAS designs so well it was genius. As for the show itself, YES -- Batfan wise it's got some of the best overall tones you can imagine. It's darker in content and has the same grim atmosphere that later made the best BB episodes. You have this impression that these characters have gone through a lot when you watch TNBA, and it's just a powerful tone of things that was never there in other Batman shows.

Must-see episodes for my taste would be Mad Love, Holiday Knights, Over the Edge, Joker's Millions, Old Wounds, and of course, Legends of the Dark Knight.

It arguably has the best Robin design ever animated, next to the best Conroy Batman design ever animated. The streamlined art just embraces the dark-deco style from the previous series and really meshes with Superman. As a kid, I remember going nuts for not being able to watch it and had to wait for the DVDs to come out. Good times.

Yes and no. Batman has a wealth of material to pull from that conceivably they could have made another film. That said you could already see people being tired with this series of films and 3 is a good time to end it on a high note (at least to me).

The one thing I did like was that this story was about bruce wayne, when you start to extend it, the films become more about the villains. Looking back at the first 4 films they were only about the villains and fell into a story telling abyss. Bruce/batman never really grew as a character.

My sources estimate the money at stake from Nolan’s deals between October 2005 and February 2012 (and possibly well into the future on these movies) is 10% commission on a minimum of $250 million. And include Nolan’s involvement with Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises as well as Inception and Man of Steel and its hoped-for sequels, and perhaps even projects not yet made public.

I don't necessarily agree. The build-up to The Avengers didn't exactly pump me up. Iron Man 2, Captain America and Thor were 'meh' comic book films to me. I applaud WB here for at least taking a bold route (even though DC's Big Three are more popular than Marvel's Big Three). Making 3-4 introductory movies (in itself) is risky simply because one of these films could miss the mark and hurt the overall product. Granted, a straight-shot is possibly riskier but look at it this way from a business stand point:

WB isn't seeking to invest 750-850 million within the next three years. They rather spend half of that and see if it's worth the investment to branch out.

If Justice League fails, then WB could always go back to Superman and Batman solo films, and once every five years try an obscure title/character.

In my opinion, Justice League could still be successful if WB makes all the right moves but they can't half-ass it, and throw money at problems to compensate for ****. Green Lantern, hopefully, was a colossal lesson for those studio heads.
