It just dawn on me (well a few weeks ago) that Bruce Wayne died twice in the trilogy. One in BB and in TDKR.

But is Bruce Wayne immortal?

Kinda full circle(even if saying it is so cliche now with this trilogy) because he left Gotham and "died" for the wrong reasons in BB but he left Gotham and "died" for the right reasons in TDKR.

:applaud. Well said sir

Yeah exactly. People ***** about the story because they have certain expectations in their head, coming after TDK. It's as if they already created a story in their mind and it didnt match what so ever, so theyre dissapointed. A lot of posters here are like that quite frankly. They wanted Batman to keep going after TDK, or to keep going instead of passing the mantle. Those stories happen constantly in the comics, and are quite boring imo. We'll probably get that with every Batman series for the next 100 years on film....this will probably be the only time where somebody gives Bruce Wayne a happy ending after all the crap he's been through. And probably the only time when we'll get a compact telling of the Batman mythos, in just 3 films (beginning, middle and end) where he's not fighting every rogue in history. Just for the sake of him going through a 10 or 20 year career.

I know exactly what you mean. The chocies that Nolan made are very bold and I like that. I'm said many times that Batman has been my hero every since I was ten. Heck, I was a Batman fan when it wasn't "cool" to be a Batman fan. I've never meet a bigger fan than myself and I always believed that only Bruce Wayne could be Batman. Nolan changed the way I thought and anyone who can do that has my total respect.

People should at least appreciate Bruce's emotional journey in this movie and stop nitpicking.

Agreed.

I cant see this franchise going into the emotional depth that Begins and Rises went through with Bruces character. Ever again actually. We'll probably get cool Batman movies but i cant see them focusing on Bruce as much as Nolan has.

Not according to someone people on the internet. You should read some of the nonsense that I've read. It goes something like this:

"The next trilogy will make this one a memory."

"The next trilogy will be better than this one."

"Nolan's trilogy will be easy forgotten."

and my favorite:

"Nolan's Batman films won't have the same impact to furture generations."

I say it's pure envy on their part.

^^^ One of my favorite parts... its like Bruce is letting the 'bat' take over... hes unleashing that side of him... wonderful

That entire sequence mainly involving him, Harvey and Rachel (from the moment Bruce arrives via helicopter) is great because it shows those three sides of Bruce's character that Bale talks about in interviews: first, we've got playboy Bruce (the facade) when he arrives with those babes, then we've got the private and real Bruce when he's out on the balcony with Rachel and then we see him slipping into Batman mode when the Joker and his mooks show up. And to cap it off, we also have that badass moment when he disarms that one mook and takes his gun apart.

All in all, a great sequence and Bale just nails every aspect of the character.

Do you think this was intentional with Nolan having an idea of making Bruce retire from the cape and cowl or just added to this when he started working on TDKR?

I doubt he thought that far ahead. I'd say at the time he was just being realistic. Someone who fell like that would have a leg injury. He just played that up in TDKR like a battle scar from TDK.

It's like a Father and Son Joker.

Yea, Bale really doesn't get enough credit for essentially playing 3 different people... one could argue its 4 because of his interactions with Fox and (sometimes) Alfred. But with Alfred its more of the real Bruce with Rachel.

It's true, that's 3 sides of the character in one big scene at the Penthouse Party. THAT'S why people need to shut the F up when it comes to Bale!

we needed ONE scene of Bruce doing his Bruce voice with the cowl on. :wow:

Absolutely. Bruce hitting the goon with his own gun and then him dismantling it like a boss is one of my favorite Bruce moments. So badass.

Technically it's 3 but yeah sometimes I feel like it's 4 with the "real Bruce" split into 2 - the side that he shows to Fox/Blake/Rachel/Selina and then there's the more vulnerable, almost child-like one that he shows only to Alfred or when he's all alone.

Yeah at least a few i can remember were when he talks to Rachel in the cave in Begins, when he says "He's safe" to Rachel in TDK, and right after Talia stabs him in TDKR. I think the rises one was my favorite. He sounds so helpless and shocked. "Miranda.........Why?" Love that one.

Yeah and my fav is a very short one but after Bane gets blown away. He says something to Catwoman in his Bruce voice.

eh those are in his calmer batvoice IMO.. i mean moments like in the batcave in TDKR where bruce has his cowl off... i wanted that bruce but still in the mask.

Isn't it the 'Bruce voice' being used when he's talking to Blake before they save the cops?

maybe i have hearing problems.. but ive never heard him sound the same as normal bruce at anytime with the cowl on.

He was never going to sound exactly like Bruce Wayne with the cowl on though. I don't think Bale was even able to sound like himself while wearing either of the cowls in BB or TDK, so something less of a growl was Bruce's voice.
