I think, on balance, the film doesn't deserve either to be praised as some kind of visionary masterpiece, nor attacked as an affront to the genre. I do think it is easily the weakest of the three films, and that it feels unnecessary, much like The Godfather III. But, treated on its own terms, I find it more interesting that the majority of shrink-wrapped CBMs.

I think discussions on its merits become highly polarised because there are individuals determined to be blind to all of its failings, and other individuals determined not to acknowledge any of its virtues. Both extremes have an air of unreality about them, to my mind.

This.

Actually I believe there are things in The Dark Knight Rises that are worth talking about. I thought Bane had a tremendous screen presence and was probably one of the more memorable villains in recent memory, and that's saying a lot seeing as he had to follow The Joker. Furthermore, the scene in which Bruce climbs out of the pit may very well be my favorite scene of the entire trilogy. I think the build to it could have - and should have - been better, but that's an amazing scene in and of itself. If only it were in a better movie (and maybe handled by a different director).

Like I said, there are good things in it... but when viewed as a whole from start to finish I just don't think the film holds up.

Have a quick question, How did batman break Bane's mask? In the second fight compared to the first fight. In the first fight batman took a lot of hits to bane's face/ mask but never broke it in anyway.

One of the gauntlets blades caught the pipes and ripped them from the mask.

Yah, Batman's gauntlets were a life saver for all three films.

They were the only part of the LOS uniform he kept, right? :funny:

Yah, but Lucius upgraded them to react like shurikens, so Lucius kept it ninja-appropriate, lol.

Oh wow, he's been banned! Was he in a heated argument with someone somewhere? Didn't have to be here. He gets around the Spidey and movie forums a lot, too.

Are banned users still allowed to view the forums? His light is green...

Sometimes people put "Banned User" in there as a joke, which is why I'm asking. :oldrazz:

His avatar is gone. When you click on his profile all his features like sending him a PM or leaving a visitor message are gone, too.

I think it's for real.

If you are on a probationary ban, you still can.

About a week ago he posted a video that was taken down cause it had profanity in it, so maybe another mod saw what he did and banned him.

He seemed like a nice fella... but he was never great in civilized debates.

He always became far too snippy and difficult with anyone who strongly disagreed with his tastes.

He was however getting better, so it's a shame.

I thought he was civil but yea he did seem at times to be abut cocky... The thing I didn't like was how he defended TDKR to the death, it's not defending it's just he continually posted RT user scores to prove it was better than most films like BB,TASM,IM3

So while I am reading all these posts about Anno being gone, my brother is coincidentally playing sad music on his piano. :csad:

Anno, I'll really miss you man. Despite our differences, I always enjoyed having discussions with you. Believe it or not, you were one of the people I enjoyed conversing the most with on these boards. I really mean that.

And I'll always remember you when I see the TDKR score on RT. :oldrazz:

Damn Anno was banned? That's sad news. I don't agree with him all the time but I enjoy his posts.
