That Begins suit still looks so damn good.

Gawd damn.

Bale was such an animal inside the suit. That picture makes me want to watch BB now, lol.

I loved how bulky the suit looked. It made Bale look massive. If he had worn that in TDKR Bane would have peed his pants.

Anno got Banned ? I am going to miss his posts.

I defend TDKR all the time I am in Batman boards.

Begins suit really makes him look like a beast. How cool it would have been if he had to resort to this suit in the final part of Rises (the others had been apprehended , or lost during the siege , or something).

I would **** bricks if i saw this guy in an alley at night :woot:

I wouldnt be scared...especially if he says 'Im Batman' in that gruff voice he uses...just reminds me of Sheldon Cooper :woot:

Although saying that he was a lot more toned and bigger in the first film...he seemed quicker...dont know if that was Nolan's plan for him to look slower as the films progressed but he was in his peak in the first.

I would **** my pants if I saw that in a alley. Bale also nailed the voice for "Im Batman" more than Keaton ever did. Keaton's was cool as hell for the time but weak in comparison.

I wouldn't call it weak. I'd say its more subtle. Keaton's Bruce focused on the otherworldiness of the Batman to strike fear into criminals more than his brutality or yelling abilities.

I find the BB suit to be far better than the TDK/TDKR suit but I still think we haven't gotten a good Batman suit in live-action yet. I'm getting really tired of seeing Batman put in heavy rubber and heavy armor material. I hope the reboot takes the suit more to its comic book roots by having one made out of fabric-like materials (yes, Batman wears fabric in the comics; not spandex).

I agree completely Shikamaru. There are more and more light-weight bulletproof materials these days. It wouldn't be unbelievable, and the actor would be able to move much better.

I really liked all of the suits in the Nolan series and the '89 suit. I think there are some scenes in TDKR where the suit just looks fantastic and is put in great scenery. The sewer, the final fight, etc.

Just watched TDKR for the first time on my parents and 60in TV and the face that Bale makes during the final fight when Bane is approaching him on the stairs is just pure Batman. Had to rewind it like three times and it just made me so happy for some random reason. Can't believe I didn't notice it until now.

There are moments in BB when the suit looks too much like thin rubber (because that's what it is).

The TDK/TDKR suit is much better IMO.

I"ve always been partial to the Begins suit. In particular, I loved that old armoire that he stored it in. It was as if he was unleashing a beast when he opened it up. I didn't mind the TDK suit, just didn't find it as menacing as the Begins suit. The cage in tdk wasn't bad, didn't care for the plexiglass one in tdkr.

Yea, that picture would freak out most people in a dark alley.

I think the TDK(R) suit is a better concept, but that it looks terrible.

When the Begins suit had the right lighting, angles and a slimmer Bale in it... it looked glorious.

TDK's is perhaps my least favourite Batman look in any movie (And I'm including nipple-man here).

Nolan and Bale always talked about their Batman being "animalistic," and the BB suit reflected that. Then they turned away from that with the TDK suit, which had a more tactical / complex look. Even the animalistic growling Tumbler was ditched for the Bat-Pod (and the "Bat" was a set back to that animalistic bulk but not as intimidating for some reason). Its interesting that there seemed to be a definite shift from the Bat-like predator imagery of BB to some sort of special ops tactical warrior in TDK and TDKR.

That transition goes back to what I'm always saying about the first two Nolan films, which is that BB and TDK were taking Batman and transitioning him from an inexperienced angry rookie "animal" (for lack of better term) to a more cold and calculative Batman like the Batman we know. If you look at Batman when he first debuted in BB and compare him with how tactical he looks and feels in the sonar scene at the end of TDK, you can really see how much he has grown and changed. I don't see it as inconsistency; I see it as character development.

And then TDKR came along. :waa:

Practically, the BB suit was hard to use. The neck limited motions Christian Bale could do and caused him headaches, it was extremely hot which caused Bale to sweat a lot and the sweat was damaging the suit, it wasn't very durable and it could only be lit in certain ways to hide the materials. At least, this is what they say in "The Art and Making of The Dark Knight Trilogy".

I'm actually surprised Nolan even approved the BB design in the first place... I remember reading that alot of the budget was blown on the tumbler so they couldn't rethink the bat-suit from the ground up.

Hemming designed it and (most of) the usual gang from the previous 4 films made it.

I heard that he wanted to redesign the suit in the first place, but pre production run out of time, so he couldn´t re-think it as he wanted it to be, the way he did with the TDK suit.

At least Nolan says that in a BonusFeauture from TDK.

Your right... still I did miss the suit, despite it looking and seeming more cumbersome than even the Burton suits.

ME too, it looked just more "Batman" to me, than the TDK one did....

I agree. I think a lot of that is the shape. The thick neck / shoulders gave the sort of silhouette that is reminiscent of how the character looks in cartoons, etc.
