Don't break my heart with truth and facts Pfieffer Pfan... :csad:

So early its hard to judge. My own opinion is I wished WB would just focus on making really good solo movies as their primary goal. IF they wanted to have a world's finest or JL, fine, but I'd rather they set about establishing their universe. I might be the only one, but to be honest, I don't even really care about having a World's Finest or JL film over having really really good Superman, Batman or a Wonder Woman films.

Imagine if they had MoS 2 (titled whatever) and the Batman reboot (with a new director, writers, and musicians, etc.) in the same year! I'd be so hyped. Instead we get them sandwiched together with the same old names thrown about for the production.

Oh well, guess I'll just keep watching this new Batman cartoon until it's cancelled.

I'm sure later I'll be cynical about this, but to be honest right now I'm just excited.

I think Michael Keaton was like 40 when Batman Returns was released... and that's the oldest anybody has properly played Batman in live-action.

Except for Dick Gautier or Bruce Thomas who may have been like 41 when doing their commercials and Adam West when doing that little live-action thing in the late 70's when he was like 51 or something.

I have to say, it's interesting that the Bat-logo they chose so closely resembles The Dark Knight Returns logo. It would certainly seem that it's gonna be a huge showdown between these two guys at the heart of the movie. Not gonna lie, even if the movie ends up being complete garbage I'd happily pay 15 bucks just to see Batman deliver Superman the beating of his life. :hehe:

I kinda feel bad for the hardcore Superman fans especially for those who don't care for Batman. I mean, they won't even get a proper MoS sequel. :hehe:

They can still get more MOS solo films down the line... I think we all went into MOS knowing it was going to set up a shared universe.

Yeahhhh...haha.

I mean, arguably though even if Batman ends up stealing Supes' thunder in this one, you could say Joker kinda stole Batman's thunder in TDK.

But yeah, no way around it. Superman will be the second most popular superhero in his own movie :funny:

It isn't just Supes' movie though, is it? Its a team-up film.

I don't think we know yet. So far it's just being said that Batman will be in the new Superman movie. No word on whether it will be called World's Finest or MOS2 (whatever that would be called). And no word about how much screentime Batman would have. Certainly the logo could be seen as a hint that it's going to be to be a 50/50 thing, but that could've also just been to generate hype.

Can only wait and see at this point.

I was thinking on the next Batman movies. I mean, the new Batman will be introduced in MoS 2, a version created by snyder/goyer, so, the guy who will directing the Batman films will use this version? without creative freedom as had nolan? or snyder will direct the next batman movie too?

I doubt Snyder will direct Batman. Goyer should stay away from the solo movies too, only as a consultant, that I don't mind.

New director.

There's no reason for a new director to not have creative freedom. So what if he's introduced in World's Finest. I mean, they just need to use the same actor (if he stays) and not contradict anything, then do whatever the hell he pleases. The story, the villains, etc...it's all free for interpretation after that. I just hope they go with something close to Arkham Batman. I want that Conroy approach. Grey and black suit and all!!

Many people don't like him, but ...

Still though, it's not quite the same. When Nolan decided to take on Batman the guy was building clay Tumblers in his garage. He got to build his Bat-universe from the ground up.

With this, a director will inherit a certain costume, Batmobile (most likely) and actor. All of that stuff will reflect a certain vision for the character. It's not that it's inherently a bad thing, but the next director will be playing in a larger sandbox rather than creating his own sandbox. But that's all part of working within a larger DCU.

True but I don't mind this time because it's different than the Nolan approach. Im a true believer in changing up the approach of this character every single time it gets reinvented.

Yeah I don't mind either. If they want to have something in 2015 that won't get blown out of the water by Star Wars VII and Avengers 2, this is the way to go. Business-wise it makes perfect sense. And as much as I'd have loved to see a solo Batman film first, TASM showed that people don't always take too well to reboots if it's too soon. Putting Superman and Batman together is a great way to slowly introduce the idea of a new Batman while giving us something we haven't seen before.

Definitely does feel surreal that only 1 year to the date after the premiere of TDKR, we're officially exiting that era of Batman on film and moving into the shared universe era. And that's a little nerve-wracking, but it's very fun too. The marketing potential for this movie will be off the charts, I can just see it now. "Whose side are you on?" type stuff.

An embarrassment of riches folks, that's the era we're living in as fans of this genre.

Jett has retracted his 'facts' many a times... Oh BOF, lol.
:lmao:

Bale said many a time he didn't want to come back, that he wanted to pass on the mantle. I love TDK Trilogy and always will, "but the war on crime goes on."

It is crazy how much things progress in a year. A year ago on July 20, the final chapter of the Nolan Batman franchise was released. A year later, a rebooted Batman is announced to appear in 2015.

I have to be honest that I do not think a WF film for 2015 was the best decision to take. It may be a good decision financially due to all the competitions in 2015 but it is by no means a good story decision. It's not a bad decision but not exactly a good one either. I don't even know what story they can possibly tell. The only thing I can think of that would bring Batman and Superman together at this point is if one of their respective villains goes to another's city. Superman practically has no introduced villains at the moment (Zod is dead) and the only Batman villain I can see running to Metropolis is the Joker. Another possibility would be Ra's al Ghul coming to Metropolis to go after Superman, possibly teaming up with Lex. Or maybe they're united by a villain that doesn't belong to either of them. I don't know but I do think it will be hard to pull off this story without making the film feel released prematurely.

Despite that, I am still very excited and optimistic. No matter how bad things look, I can't really say that I am not optimistic or excited. Since Batman and Spider-Man are my favorites, I always had a soft spot for them. I never want to dislike any film with Batman or Spider-Man. I always walk into a movie with Batman or Spidey trying to be as optimistic as humanly possible regardless of how bad things look.

That being said, I wish this film the best and I really hope everything works out. I am cautiously optimistic, but optimistic nonetheless.

Make no mistake, I think this was a decision made 1. as a business strategy, and 2. because Snyder and Goyer are fanboys who were probably chomping at the bit to do this (I'd bet both of them are actually bigger Batman fans).

That said, I think there's definitely a good story to be told here if they mine for it. Making this a teamup film would be a huge mistake IMO. This should be about Superman VS. Batman. The fact that they made the announcement via the quote from TDKReturns leads me to believe it'll lean more in that direction. I almost want Batman to be seen as a villain in this film. With Lex involved, I could definitely see a relationship with Bruce there. I could see both of those men not trusting Superman and wanting to come up with a way to control him (enter Kryptonite).

I don't think any Batman villains should be in the movie. Save those for the solo Bat-films. Just my thoughts atm.

Yeah, I'm surprised we're seeing Batman on the big screen again so quickly. Just a 3 year gap... that's less than the wait between TDK and TDKR!

They could use LA CONFIDENTIAL as a story model of sorts:

Two good guys who despise each other align as the true identity of their adversary is uncovered.

Would leave plenty of opportunity for good Batman detective work everyone is hungry for, too.

One of my favorite tweet reactions to this news this afternoon was "Geez WB! The body of Nolan's Batman is not even cold!" :funny:

There were only 3 years between Keaton and Kilmer...
