I feel a bit left down after that BOF Batman Beyond story. Then BOF posted a big paragraph this morning about how there won't be a DC Universe/Batman movie announcement at Comic-Con this year. Now that paragraph has mysteriously disappeared from the site...

Thought they were going to release MOS2 first? I am excited but I feel this is too soon. Did WB force this?

Maybe they were disappointed with MoS boxoffice and to a lesser extent reviews (I liked it more than the pro critics). Solution: Throw #1 cash cow Batman immediately into the follow-up.

It's got great user reviews. I don't see the box office disappointment. It's great, especially for a reboot!

Can't say that I'm surprised but I wish it wasn't this soon. A new Batman just 3 years after the last one is a bit too fast IMO. They should've just concentrated first with a MoS sequel with just Superman.

I find it a bit funny though that Nolan won't let them touch his Batverse and yet he has no problem attaching his name to a movie that will have the new Batman. :oldrazz:

Jett has retracted his 'facts' many a times... Oh BOF, lol.

I guess it really is the end of an era now... I'll miss Bale in the role (His tenure as Bats isn't completely over until the new guy is announced) and honestly it's a shame Nolan couldn't be a little more open-minded about things.

I'm still very excited but this is without a doubt a bittersweet moment.

Even though I didn't think MOS was great, I did enjoy it enough to be intrigued with the idea of a sequel. I know Nolan is suppose to be the executive producer again but I still don't feel comfortable with Batman being in the hands of Synder. Oh well, let the speculation begin.

But this Batman will ultimately be in the hands of another director in his solo adventures.

I just want Snyder to bring the visuals and stay true to the character.

Yeah I'm with you. Now that the excitement has worn off, I'm a little disappointed Bale isn't coming back. Especially with Nolan involved... though he's only an "executive producer" this time, which basically means WB is just paying him to use his name.

I'm disappointed we won't see Bale in the cowl again since he brought so much to the role, but it's the right decision to move forward with someone new.

From the press release:

The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.

Thomas offered, “Whilst our ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction. His vision for Superman opened the door to a whole new universe and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters.”

As much as I would've loved to see Cavill face off with Bale, I must admit I'm breathing a sigh of relief for the sanctity of TDK trilogy right now. I'm willing to sit back and see where this goes.

TBH that part irks me a bit as much as I love Nolan. He won't let anyone use his Batverse (which I completely understand and highly respect) and yet he attaches his name to this new one because of what? Money?

That totally sounds like Nolan has moved on... WB are definitely paying him for his name now. He's probably doing it to benefit Syncopy.

He doesn't want to godfather any more superhero movies. He helped WB get Superman off the ground... the rest is up to them.

Onwards and upwards for Mr Nolan I guess.

That's just my interpretation. Aren't executive producers usually the ones who help finance the movie too? It could be his choice, but I get the feeling that Warner Bros. per$uaded him to attach his name.

I got the same impression as you too.

He'll be as involved as Michael Uslan and Benjamin Melniker has been involved in the Bat-movies over the years. Which is minimal (if at all) to say the least. Your just names on the credits.

This move helps his production company and he gets a nice profit at the end.

So basically he's doing this for money and as a favour to his friends at WB.

HAHAHAHAHA oh Jett...

No Batman Beyond announcement either...

HAHAHAHAHA

Eh, it was always pretty much assumed that Nolan and Emma would be on board as producers for the reboot.

If Spielberg can be an executive producer for crap like the Bayformer movies, I can give Nolan a pass for taking a paycheck here. Any money he makes goes right into Syncopy, which is only a good thing IMO. I expect to see a lot of great movies coming out of Syncopy in the coming years.

I cannot wait for a new Batman. I love what Nolan did but I'm eager for something new... just watched the Burton films two nights ago and I NEED MORE BATMAN!!

Nolan has Hollywood bending over for him... he didn't need the money, so he could've had a clean break if he wanted.

This is definitely a favour and a good deal for Syncopy.

And I know it probably isn't likely but if Jim Caviezel were cast as Batman my brain would probably EXPLODE

My thoughts.

God, Batman is going into the hands of Snyder. Ok, I have not see MOS, but I'm not excited about him putting his hands on Batman.:csad:

This will be a disaster!
